I have 1 character who hunts NS and sells loot for money to support getting my doc started. Currently he is 4442 doc, and I would like to create my own buffs. What I want to know is, if I buy all the materials(materials to make components, as well) how much will I need to start making my own good quality buffs? I only have 1.3mil now, but I will have more soon, so please give me a number

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
...and making SWG a better place to be.

Check the FQ thread stickied above. There are links to some buff crafting guides.

You might want totry harvesting some of your own resources. I do all my own harvesting and it has made my crafting a lot cheaper. Of course, it is an investment. You have to buy the harvestor, supply power and pay maintenence for the flora/inorganics. Hunting avian meat is not difficult, especially with all the reptilian flyiers on Dathomir. It takes awhile to gather all resources, but it is cheaper than paying someone else, hunter or merchant, in the long run. Good luck!

oh god... you DEFINATELY want to get some of your own stuff, good stuff. much much much cheaper. making good buffs in large quantities takes a long time, all because of the minerals. if you wanted to make, lets say, 100 of each buffpack, (which I have yet to accomplish at once) , you're probably looking at i'd say about 6-9mil.

here's an estimate of where u're money is going

1) avian meat - 100-200 cpu

2) herbivor meat - 50-150cpu

3) reactive gas - 10-50cpu

4) c4 liquid petro - 5-15 cpu

5) lokian wild wheat - 5-15cpu

6) tat fiberplast - 5-10cpu

7) domesticated oats - 5-10cpu

8) dolovite iron - 5-10cpu

4-8 you'll need a LOT of, like 100-200k should be good to start, 1-3 you can get away with like 25-50k, but that's good because meat is the hardest thing to get bulk quantities of, and especially kinds you can afford.

hope this helped

Its hard to say, If you want to be successfull you will need to have a steady supply of Avian meat. Since good avian isn't always in shift you need to spend around 30 million when it is in shift to have enough for 2 or 3 months.

If you want to get into the buff crafting business to sell completed packs....

You need to start out as a buffing doc (due your very limited credits right now) then move into crafting. Harvest some avian/herb meat and sample for the rest of what you need and see what you come up with buff pack wise.

Then goout and buy some buff packs and buff at MO/cnet etc. With the money you make buy harvesters, enough of each type to use all the lots you have access to, so if you have access to 10 you get 10 flora/10 mineral/10 chemical/10 gas/10 water (10 fusion gens will be nice too but you can wait for them, chances are all your lots will be used for the first 5 or 6 months anyway so find a cheap source for buying power for now).

Harvest the named resources and any uber ones you can use for non planet specific. Start making Stim Bs and wound packs to sell and generate income butonly use non uber resources for these. If you have an awesome spawn of a named resource keep it for buff packs only as you never know how long till the good stuff comes around again. You can sell other med items cheaper to compensate for lower stats but generally you will find that the market for buying buff packs is only interested in the top end stuff.

If you have a great Lok Wheat for example then some even better stuff comes along you still have to get on it with everything you can because you know every other Doc out there will be so you will be competing with it sales wise for 6 months or a year. When you do harvest something better you can move your previous best from being used for buff packs to Stim Bs for example so making that product better.

Lots wise to give you an idea I have 4 medium houses (8 lots total) I use for storing resources only. 8 factories (16 lots so far) for production. 1 medium house as a shop in my PC (18 lots so far) and another medium house I have just set up so guildies can get buffs when they want them (20 lots in total). If possible get friends/guildies to help you out with these as it is easier for you to put down harvesters (I currently have 20 harvesters placed) one day on Lok wheat then pull them up the next day when the uber Dant berry you need spawns in and you have to switch focus. Remember though that your resource house will end up with 10's of millions worth of resources so be careful of people leaving game etc.

In 3-6 months you should be in a position to buy the SEAs (unless you are a lucky looter) you need to get the extra 2 experiment points and you will also sleep with 1 eye open and fixed on SWGCraft.com!!!!!

If you just wanna buff yourself and want high end buff packs I would seriously just buy them....

You can always gather a bit here and there as you play and craft some for fun. Of course if you aren't fussed about having the best buffs, just want to buff some friends for non high end PvE then just check the FAQ and enjoy.

I was on Lok picking up the very last resource from my harvester to finish making extremely nice buffs ... on my way back to Talus, I was getting emails stating that my factory was at 94%, 25%, 11%, 4%, 2% and this all in the matter of 10 minutes. My factory was stocked with high resources, components were finished andI just got the message that the action buffs were finished. By the time I took all those shuttles, hopped on my speeder and arrived at my factory .. it hit 1% ... as I brought up the radial to pay maintenance ... the factory disappeared.

In short, it cost me a little over 8 million credits to replace resources with almost or the same stats as what I had in the factory ... and no (for all of you who may ask), a CSR could/would not help me.

1.3 million credits will not buy you what you're going to need to make "good quality" buffs. I found a resource vendor by chance that had almost all of the same resources I had lost ... I made that girl pretty damn rich as I spent all of my credits in one vendor.

moral of the story... don't put resources or items you can't afford to lose into factories for storage, but put stuff not so important in them

but seriously, was this after the change in SOE's policy?? now the items in the factory (but not the factory itself) can be replaced after an investigation

Unsure of when this policy came into play ... this wasa couple of months afterI first started out (March of '04) and had acquired all my resources myself through harvesting. If it were AFTER the change in policy, the CSR completely refused to reimburse me the items .. I just got the "cut and paste" version of how to pay maintenance. I just felt it was extremely odd that I received all the emails within 1/2 hr .. and this was when the shuttles were a 10 minute wait.

i had similar, i dont store stuff in my factories for storage, but i do often leave stuff in output hopper for as few days

i had no emails telling me my factories were coming to a maintence end, and as a consequence lost 200 sets of buffs, 905s too
