I have been reading through these posts and have been seeing thing about using "crappy" resources as opposed to using "good" resources. How can you tell the difference. I also heard someone say something about "OQ" or something of that nature. Would anyone care to explain?

You can determine the stats on a resource by examining it via the radial menu. Of course, at the moment, you'll have to get a sample first to determine the stats.
I think for the vast majority of meds, overall quality(OQ) is the most important, followed by potential energy(PE). So 900+ for OQ constitutes a good resource for medicine. For advanced components, you usually have to take what you can get, but otherwise, the quality of your meds is directly related to the quality of your resources.
