Thread: Ok this is weird and may make me not heal anyone again.

First of all I'm a covert rebel only joined because of the jedi missions. I was healing in bestine with another doctor there. Turns out she is covert Imperial. We are minding our own bussiness when this character named BillyBob Obvious naming violation comes in... He's Imperial non-covert. Now I didn't get into the game for the PVP aspect I could care less about it hence why I'm a doctor. Anyway here is the weird thing. He open fires on the covert Imperial doctor then incaps her and death blows her. Say's "I hate traitors". He then open fires on me incaps me and yells "I hate traitors" then deathblows me. I was completely unaware If I was showing rebel. But this Imperial killed an imperial that raised my suspicions. I telled him and got no response until I finally just asked how did you kill an Imperial if you were imperial? The reply was "She must have healed a covert rebel"

Ok if this is true we have a very large problem here... One I can't tell who is neutral and who is covert.. so if I heal someone that is Imperial that I don't know I'm doing it a rebel with just as juvinile and attitude as "BillyBob" can come and kill me and I would never know why. This means ok I won't heal what look like neutral parties... But wait !! if I heal rebel only then I'm opening myself up to getting killed by Imperials... So I guess that means I don't heal anyone... And that means no doctors eventually... I don't know if this effects neutrals but if it does then this needs to be addressed.

this is a problem and i have suggested that if you will get a TEF on healing that there should be a warning notifying you that you are about to gain a tef and will be open to attack by enemy overts.

But i do not think the faction healing system is incorrect..there have been many posts pertaining as to why neutrals healing overts would become a huge problem. If you are interested in the topic i suggest browsing the boards (CM/Medic/Doctor) for these posts.

so youre saying its ok for an imperial overt to kill an imperial covert becuase said covert healed a covert rebel?

also, neutrals CANNOT heal anyone with a tef...

but ..this whole scenario is just weird, dbing a covert rebel doctor that healed someone witha tef , sure i can see that, but, the imperial? hell ill jsut drop my faction all together, oh wait, that wont protect me from involuntary pvp, uhoh, i said that bad word the devs dont want to happen..

Imperials should never be able to attack other imperials. Either he was exploiting a bug or this story is made up. Ive never seen it happen. Ive never been able to do it to others.

I've never heard of that happening before...but I can say that if a fellow imperial did that to me, well, they would go on my list of people I will never under any circumstances heal ever again. lol

No, it isn't made up. It has happened before. I've been covert imp, healed a reb apparently under TEF, and was suddenly attackable by other imps INCLUDING npcs...yeah, it sucks.

A notification of a TEF for healing should be given to the person healing. Some form of graphical representation that you are under a TEF or someone you may be healing is under a TEF should've been added long ago...

Hmm okay.. so how would this situation come about?

1: Covert Rebel A attacks and kills Imp B
2: CovertRebel A comes to Covert Imp Doc A for healing, and Doc A Heals Rebel A
3: Imp B respawns and comes after Rebel A and can freely attack Rebel A(We already know this can happen). But Imp B is also able to attack Doc A for healing Rebel A.

That how it works?

Pretty much. But don't think the rebel has to kill the imperial to earn the TEF....

Not made up. It happened yesterday 8-03-03 on the gorath server in bestine. I myself have also had run in's with storm troopers in Mos Entha after healing some rebels. I didn't think about it until I saw the Storm troopers as red. I went "huh, that's weird and then it registered they were firing at me and I ran my b u t t off to get out of there."

Again I don't know if neutrals are effected by this but it would be nice to know. It would also be nice to know when a TEF is placed on your or some kind of warning if you proceed you will have a TEF placed on you. We already have a "It would be unwise to help such a patient" Why not expand that. Also on the subject of hidden things on your character and such shouldn't medics and doctors be able to say examine a patient to see if they have secondary stat wounds?? As it is now I have to use the med to see if they have any. The problem here is if I use a B medpack to heal 1 point I wasted a good use on another patient. Medics and doctors and combat medics need to have an ability to at least look at the primary screen of the character to best heal the patient and of course be efficient in our use of medicine.

Ok what happens is you heal a covert imperial that was just overt and got killed. He still has a tef against therebel who killed him and can attackthe rebelwhile covert (I think this is a bug). I'm not sure about this next part but I thinkwhen you heal the imperial you get a tef put against you for that same rebel. What this all means isthat the rebel walking in seesred dots on the radar for the medics doing the healing. Someone should bug this.

In anchorhead I ended up hunting down some poor rebel medic in the basement of the tavern and killing him thinking he was imperial because he had healed one of the imperials I just deathblowed. I had no way of seeing what faction he really was. I felt bad after, but if you're red, you're dead.

What I would like to know ishow the Covert Imp healed the Covert Reb. I have heard many a conversation in Med Centers on why one could not heal someone cause they were Diffrent Faction. But I have known a Reb friend (covert) healing a non medic person who stared talking about being killed by rebels (covert ImP?) Seems ot be a bit of confusion as to what can be done to who by whom.

One way to avoid the situation is to be suspicious of everyone that shows blue to you unless you happen to know them.

Gwenolydd Flurry/Naboo/Theed The Healing and Hugging Doctor/Pistoleer

That's just my point though If I don't heal the blue people and only heal rebel I open myself to imperial attack. I guess I drop the faction totally as I've said I only joined rebel to do the jedi missions, not to do PVP.

I'm wondering if this can happen to neutral doctors and medics as well. If so I'll choose another profession all together and work up something that isn't vunerable to PVP. If I wanted PVP I would play DOD, CS, Quake and all the other First person shooters out there.

I would still like to know if I hada TEF hung around my neck. Instead of finding out about it an have some 13 year old or some 18 and older player with a 13 year old mentality come into the med center and kill me.
