Thread: Affect of OQ and PE on ALS
I just saw a thread on the Starsider board where several people were claiming that when making an Adv Liquid Suspension the PE for the Dantooine Berries affects the power much more than OQ does. If I remember the schematic correctly it stats 66% OQ and 33% PE for power. I have only worked with 2 different types of Dant. Berries and the stats on these do not allow me to investigate this issue. So the question is...
Does PE really matter more than OQ for the dantooine berries in an ALS?
This is all in the math...
Look at it this way.
The Average OQ of your water and your berries will account for 66% of your total possible effectiveness. So you can make up for a low OQ Berry by using a high OQ Talusian Water.
The PE on the Berry makes up the 33% of your total possible effectiveness. This is becuase the water will never have PE.
Here's some simple math examples.
Water = 900 OQ
Berry1 = 200 OQ and 900 PE
Berry2 - 900 OQ and 200 PE
For Berry1 combine you would get 36% overall effectiveness from the OQ and 30% overall effectiveness from the PE= TOTAL Effectivness of 66%
For Berry2 combine you would get 60% overall effectiveness from the OQ and 7% overall effectiveness from the PE= TOTAL Effectivness of 67%
There's a simple formula you can do to tell you what resource combination is best for the item you are making.. Follow the link below to see how it works in detail...

If you do the maths you will find out that OQ and PE on the berries affect equally the power of the ALS.
Mainly because the OQ is averaged with the OQ of the water.
So in the end you get something like this :
( OQ Berries + OQ Water)/2 * 0.66 + PE Berries *0.33.
Which gives us :
OQ Berries *0.33 + OQ Water *9.33 + PE Berroes * 0.33
which is :
( OQ Berries + PE Berries) * 0.33 + OQ Water *0.33.
So as yousee all that really matters is the total OQ+ PE on the Berries....
