He is looking for a combat profession to add to Master Doctor. The same could be said for any combat class. TKM is as good as any, and at least can make use of doctors good self-healing ability to be a sort of super-tank in PvE (with the right helmet).

Master Doc/TKM, as far as effectiveness, is a wast of skill points spent on Doctor. WHy? Because all you really need to spend the points on is Novice Medic (and maybe a few more for the speed line) and buy Stim Bs, then go get buffed at any old starport. You don't need Doc to be the most effective TKM, you just need the services of a Doc every now and then, which can be purchased with ease. If you just want an uber combat template, I'd spend those points someplace else because putting them into Doc means you cut yourself short.

no what im looking for is an answer. are we crafters or fighters. they give us all the abilities to keep ourselves alive but not the abilitires to kill anything and they give us the ability to craft but not the ability to aquire the things to craft with. You don't get a choice. you either have to do one or the other. if you master doc and do TKM then you get the choice of artisan or scout.. it doesn't work if you choose artisan you have to drop scout if you choose scout you can't have enough artisan

Loving this template. In PvP I am a very tough person to take down and PvE I solo nightsister's. I get bleed's, outrageous dodge, insane defenses, and can use a stun damage weapon.

Skill point allocation is part of the game. If you want to excel in one area expect to suffer in another. That is the tradeoff. This game gives you a LOT of flexibility with your template. If you choose to use a lot of your skill points on a support profession like Doctor, don't expect to go toe-to-toe with a lot of the elite combat professions out there.

At the weekend I was Master Doc/Master Heavy Swordsman, which is a pretty good template for combat, yes you're kind of gimped in terms of ranged attacks, so don't get caught out in the open by a rifleman and you'll be ok.
I've since dropped all of swordsman/brawler to pursue holo Squad Leader (yes, yes I know), but it's a dead easy tree to master - just go up the techniques line first and you can basically go to Talus and solo huf dun missions (and later tortur) missions without even breaking a sweat (seriously, you never see any white space in your HAM bars unless you get hit in the head).
