The 'surgical droid' term is misleading. You need a droid with a medical module with a rating of 110 for the best result, but it can be any kind of droid, surgical droids are just one of the kinds of droids that can be made. I wish they had fixed that message really, I know I got really confused at the start too. After that, price varies from 5k to 30k or more depending on the kind of droid you want.

ah ha! that clears things up alot then, I was just looking for those surgical ones, and have passed a few places with R2 units that have medical capability ratings of 110.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Med modules can be made in 45, 55, 85, and 110 power as I recall, and I only ever knew one guy who could make a 110 rated single module - which means that most any droid with a 110 rating will be using two 55s or two 85s (110 is the cap).
There are a few chassis that can hold more modules than others. I choose an Advanced R3 (which can hold 6 modules) chassis with:
110 med rating (usually two modules)
F&C crafting station (one module)
10 item storage (also two modules)
Droid Repair (one module, repairs the -wounds- of other droids, not damage and cannot repair itself)
For a total of 6 modules. Usually runs 20k-30k. To go lowbuck, you can get a MSE with 110 rating (I think). The rating DOES affect the power of buffs and treatment. Try doing buffs with a 110 droid and then try doing them inside a med center without the droid. I think the med center only has a 100 rating which is why the buffs will come out lower.
(Also, I always get comp armor on all my droids cause you just never know...)
