Zarlor, thanks for the quick reply. You're doing a great job.

And I do currently use a nice steel for my action enhance packs, but I can only use reactive gas as the inorganic in all the other enhance packs. As a result, my action packs last 2-2.5x longer in duration than all my other enhancepacks.

You are very much right on the mark when you speak of getting better access to collecting our own resources. Not sure the best way to do it, but making the /medical forage command at least usable would be a good start. The part about interdependency upon different classes is absolutely correct too, but the part of the equation thats missing is that the medical profession is a dirt poor profession too. Thats two strikes which make it a very hard profession. Artisans can get there supplies, make there items, and then sell them to make money. Bounty hunters and Smugglers get high dollar missions and can kill quickley, which means they can buy anything they need. Other combat types can do harder missions and make good money too, buying what they need. Now I am not whining because I love the healing aspect of games, because its a blast to keep groups going but it sure would be nice getting some help to do it. Before missions, they need a gun. We need stims, wound packs, state packs, enhance packs, disease packs, poison packs, etc etc. I have maybe had/spent 100,000 credits in the game (and that is a big maybe) while my BH friend just spent 100,000 on 2 guns. And that has been like the 5th time he's done it (he tried commando too). I am just sick of haveing to mooch money just to get to the good places to help out. Well that rant went a little longer than I planned and I am too tired to get into the fact that my medium house says I am over my limit at 80 items or that my factory is broke. I'll leave with this, remember to RAK! Show Random Acts of Kindness throughout the game, entertainers and healers need your money!

While I agree it is is possible for a Doc to turn a good profit, I also think that overall the economics of this profession are such that as a general rule Doctors are likely, on average, poorer and have less income theough the methods of being a Doctor than any of the most Artisan or Fighter classes. It's one thing to say that Docs have some of the skills to make money, it's another thing entirely to take a look at the economic situation in the game and to be able to really sit back and see who is making money where in that game as a general standard.

I've mentioned in many previous threads that overall MOST Doctors I know (and I have met a lot, mind you) do NOT make a lot of money in the professsion, amd most do try because it is what they want to do. Instead those that do find finacial stability and, in a few cases, prosperity are generally relying on non-Doctor skills to do so. Or they are some of the lucky few who can get those damned factories to work reliably for them.

Of course anything in my own experience is strictly subjective. I would love to see some objective numbers on the situation, but even those could be fairly misleading. Many Docs I know will have a close group of friends who use /tip not as a normal method of payment for medical skils, but simply to give or loan money to the Doc. I consider myself very lucky to have several close friends who have varied skills in the game enough that I've been able to get a lot of my needs, including factories, housing, harvesters and weapons (no armor, 'cause I'm a wookiee, but I could get that too) from them for free.

I've posted many times that in my experience (remembering that again that is stricly a subjective phrase) those few who have decided to take up the surveying profession will rarely get goods that would be considered truly acceptable and useful for good meds by the Doctor community because we are not a lucrative enough market to cater too. And in those few instances where they are offering a product that both a Doctor and an Artisan could use the product it is almost gauranteed the Artisan will outbid the Doctor every time.

The only exception, and I'm not really sure why othen than some kind of support class sympathy, is the Scout/Rangers out there. They normally tend to make the most money on Hide/Bone, but they often enoughstill ask medic-types what resources we could use (normally Meats) and I have often seen them sell to Docs at what would be a reasonable price for a Medic-class or even just as a form of tip for medical services. Then again, if you ask me, those guys are getting gipped out of their rightful worht BIG because thier resources are much rarer and harder to com by than the usual artisan resources you can grab with a harvester, yet they tend to sell for no more than the very standard 3cr/resource.

So IMHO, and I have stated this many times on this forum, Doctors simply do not, as a general rule, have the means to compete against Artisans for the resources they need. The economics of the game virtually require a Doc to have some level of self-sufficency in resource gathering. (And truthfully, as a Doc/CM, there's no way I could even consider being fully self-sufficent just becasue of lot restrictions if nothing else and the massively different and precise recource requirements I have to make all the medical supplies available that I woudl like or need to make.)

also fight for chef buffs..

Chef is the only class in the game 100% devoted to buff but master chefs can buff for +200 stat for 6 mins.

I mean the chef should be at master buffing up there with the doctor.. I mean its takes a ton of exp to get too master chef..

The Food and Hunger bar are horrible features in this game because the chef buff lasts 6 mins and fills you up for 20 mins.. so they get screwed in alot of diferent ways.,

Hey, if the Devs give Chefs a food that will buff as well as and for as long as Doc buffs, I'm all for it.

I've said before, I don't care what class gets the answer to the Mind Damage issue, I would just be happy to see an answer from somewhere.
