Thread: Doc Buffs (Not a rant, but an idea that just makes plain sense)

Heya MyT,

Not quite sure I understand how making our buffs into group buffs would change anything with buff bots. People with a 2nd account can drag a bot doc along with them now, and even have them set macros to target them, /follow and buff.

If you think about it, if they made the buffs Area Effect (not just making them buff our group), it would kill buff bots business anyway, as people could just be standing idly by and catch the bot's buffs anyway.

My main problem is, buffing in the field is NOT fun as it is. The buffs don't last long enough to make it worthwhile for the doc to miss out on up to 60 or 70k experience while she runs around trying to buff each of the other 7 members in her group.

I am assuming you understand what I said about the entertainers buff bots. What I meant it exactly what you brought up about alts. And see I can deal with someone bringing an alt with them, thats not what makes me mad. But think about it, how hard is it to make a macro that does everything afk? Not difficult, it is however mildly hard to select group members with a macro that actually works.

By making buffs AOE (and I assuming you mean only group AOE), you just make it easier for people to put those of us that play the game out of a group. As many of us found out with entertainers, is it was "easier" to find AFK buffers and auto-invite bots, then it was "deal with" atk players.

How long does it take to run missions? It takes my guild (8 people) roughly 43 minutes to run 16 missions. which is roughly how long buffs last. Now think about that, and tell me AOE buffing is not a bad thing. Again, I would LOVE to see AOE Buffs, poisions and diseases in the game. However, the AFK fact is far to great imo, which is why I highly doubt this will happen.

I have never had a problem buffing a group of 8 people on "Breaks"...even in high level area's like the corvette or the black scale compound which have pretty strict timers. If you choose to loose the XP by buffing, then that is your choice, but I have never lost XP on a mission, hunt, etc. It's really all about the people you play with and how organized they are.

I do appologize for being late on this reply, I've been busy with work lately. Boo. Anyways, this is just my opinion.

Read the part of my quote that i bolded and colored blue for you.I said an AE that was a true AE (not just effecting our groups). That way, anyone standing around a buff bot gets the buffs for free anyway, thus killing their "business". So why pay them.

No big deal, but this would in no way effect buff bots other than taking away from them the ability to earn credits while AFK by setting up an auto invite buff macro. With AE buffs, why would someone invite an AFK buff bot to get buffs??

But the point of my post was not to kill the afk buffers, but to make it more enjoyable for docs in fast paced groups than it currently is. As of now, I do not enjoy it, and if I don't I'm sure there are many others that do not either.
