Thread: Droids are a Docs friend.
Having a storage/medical/combat droid is very useful. You can put your crates of stims and chef buffs in it, but before you drop them in, drag the crates to a toolbar.
Now, when you click on the crate from the toolbar, the crate will drop into your inventory without you having to call the droid to get it.
I use five different droids, one is my storage/medical/combat, one is my storage/astomech and the other three are storage where I shove my crates of spare armour, cheff buffs, stims, powerupsand tools.
Five storage droinds is 50 extra inventory slots you can carry around. When you have some time you can call your droids and pop the crates back in.
I find this invaluable as the saving in inventory space means you can switch to wearing a bandolier rather than a backpack, and with the BE mods, a bandolier is a lot more useful.

Best thing to get is a Probot Droid with the following features
1. 110 Med Module
2. Storage Compartment (10)
3. Stimpack Dispenser
4. Auto-Repair Module
5. Your other profession (Scout/Pilot or another Auto-Repair Module ((Auto Repair Modules Stack))
First of all the 110 Medical Module works like a charm, it boosts your healing efficiency quite a bit if you're within 100m.
Secondly, the storage compartment is highly useful for storing armor. I use three separate droids for my different armors/psgs (9 Pieces +PSG). Armor inside droids never decay. One droid is for kinetic armor, second is energy armor, and third is my energy PVP armor. Especially since modded armor decays quickly and are irreplaceable, this is a good way to keep it from decaying until you use it. Normally I don't wear armor, as in most PVE and in large scale PVP you don't really need armor. And why worry about decay? Just pull out your armor when you need it. Don't have to worry about decay if you get sent to the cloner.
Thirdly, the stimpack dispenser is your free heals. Buy a crate of stim A's load into your probot. Then use a stim macro.
Macro Name: Stimmy
/target buffbot
/requeststimpack
/pause 60.2
/macro stimmy
So you get a free 150 point heal every 60 seconds. This is useful in higher end content as it helps, albeit a small amount but it does help you.
Fourthly, the auto-repair module helps repair itself overtime and you don't have to worry about healing your probot. I recommend stacking autorepair modules on your main combat droid.
I highly recommend a probot as it has the "stalker" personality trait, it can engage and disengage combat with simple attack and follow commands. It also has a ranged weapon, allowing it to stay closer to you and follow you around. Also a probot since it's hovering has better terrain negotiation. An R3 Droid can stack more modules (Total 6) but it's a melee attacker. +Ranged+ weapon component on an R3 Droid doesn't quite work. I think R-Series droids are a bit more rebellious and seems to have a mind of their own... Figures, so sometimes they do sometimes they don't and sometimes they just attack willy nilly. A probot is easier to control.
its 19 meters, ive tested it. if your at 20 meters, no bonus. i was in the dant mo alone and put my droid in the corner of the tavern when i saw four imps (a jedi, 2 swordsman/stackers, and a ranged stacker) loading in. we fought and i was outhealing them easily because of the med droid. when i was chasing a few of them around i would go out of the radius of effect, and if my health went down then i would just use a stim. then id retreat back to my little radius of effect and heal for 1.6k a bacta shot.

How far away from a droid can you be to stil get the med bonus, for example could you tell it to stay in a house and go outside 100m away in a pvp battle?

As a master BE I would just like to say that stim A's can do much better than 150 points - I have some that heal 200 in my own droid and I suspect it is possible to go a bithigher ![]()
I don't like probots - they get in my face during combat
I must say I was surprised when the R3 that I made went up to the critter and started beating it over the head as it had ranged attack toggled 'On' and pre-CU, my R3 (a different one) used to use this cool electric cannon shot from a distance for combat. Mind you, someone on our forums was reporting yesterday that their pet (kind with teeth and tail) wasn't doing it's ranged attack either so maybe ranged attack that needs to be toggled on isbroken?
I like the advice about the armor/storage ![]()

Quick question though sir: do only stim A's work with this droid?
Madam please
Yes, only stim A's and you have to have medic xx4x to load the stims into the droid (although possibly not to use). This is clearly a holdover from pre-CU when only medics could use stims. I expect that should they ever get around to the DE revamp they will replace this requirement with some kind of magic ![]()
Anyone in your group can /requeststim from your droid as well ... but as it has a slow recycle I'm not entire sure how useful this is.
As for the having to buy combat droids directly from the DE as being placed on a vendor would cause them to lose their combat abilities. I posted about this on the DE forum a few days ago, and received the response that this was true a few publishes ago but it is now fixed so please feel free to buy vendor-sold combat droids with confidence.

So exactly what does a med droid with a rating of 110 do for me post-CU?
How does it affect speed, mind, action and health buffs? (adrenal, seratonin, endorphines, nutrients, etc)
How does it affect healing damage? (bacta shot, bacta infusion)
How does it affect healing wounds? (heal wound or whatever it is called post-CU)

I pickup up a stimpack droid with a 75 medical module. Bacta Shot is a noticably bigger heal with the droid out. I haven't noticed any difference with wound healing, tho I'm just a NovDoc.
i have a pre-cu droid, i tried to have it out while healing in combat on one of my toons, died first shot. got a question, my droid doesnt have self repair

One of the best ways to boost your healing is via a droid.
Take a look at the replies to this thread for some good ideas on your droid of choice. Some key things to ask your DE:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=112540
1. Med module
2. Combatmodule (ie it will not run away if you add one of these mods and it will have higher ham)
3. Item Storage (can never have too much)
4. self repair so it can heal itself if it does catch an area attack
5. Data storage if you like to fly
6. Harvest or Crafting etc
Lots of options.
Med droids have always been a part of being a Doc. There have been some changes to droids that make the options you can get even larger and easier for the DE to make.

can one be installed?
Lol you really should ask the DE's, but seeing as I have the knowledge, the answer is no.
What level is your droid? If you are level 80 and attacking lvl 80's that have area attack, then group with your droid. He will then take on your CL of 80. If you low level and want the extras, make sure you got a CL30 (he gets CL30 from armor or combat modules). Do not group with the droid if you are lower lvl than 30.
Auto repair modules are great, but they chew batteries. Make sure you have a good supply if you use this. Also look at the repair power of the droid, multiple repair moldules will increase the repair it does to itself. Also remember that CURRENTLY you can heal a droid with bacta shot etc. You could save a lot of batteries on a droid if you use infusion on them.

Are the buff durations any longer? Or is the effect of the buff any larger with a droid out?
I remember, pre-CU there were as a formula on how your buffs would come out if you had a droid where in a player city with a medical certification, etc.. does anyone know if this is still the case?
Yes, the buffs are longer with the droid out. I don't have the exact lengths on me, but there is a thread in here somewhere that discusses the lengths.
