I came to the same conclusion about advance dispersion mechs(or maybe adv infection amplifiers, I forget which). All the resources were even available on my planet at the time so I started my harvesters and figured in a day or two I'd have all the resources I'd need. Couldn't figure out why the schematic number wouldn't work for the macro until I tried doing one by hand. Turns out thethose schematicshave the same problem that harvesting mechs had a while ago, the schematic won't load, it'll just sit there with the downloading bar moving but never load. It's a bug they need to fix since CM's use those in their meds.
