Thread: One Doctor's Experience (or lack thereof)

You seem to be really resistantto changing your play style. I don't know what to say then. If you don't want to enhance your partner and don't want to adapt your playing, then you will have voluntarily frozen your med xp. Plenty of us had become Master Doctors without healing pets, it is still quite easy to do. As with the entire medical profession, your level of advancement is directly related to the number of players you can help. I believe that the change to pet xp was valid not only because of the benefits it provides to BEs but also because it encourages us, a support profession, to actually go out and help people. The way it was before, a quick trip to Lok with a Gurreck could net you several Doctor boxes in a single try. Even changing it to a fraction only increases the time by that factor which still was worlds faster than helping actual people.
Yes, I have voluntarily frozen my medical experience (all my experience really since I only log on to keep a factory running to make meds for friends now). My reason for doing so is because I don't wish to resort to silly tactics to make sure I get a fair shake in the exp department. Sure, I could go out and find more melees (has anyone noticed that most of the nice folks are entertainers and artisans?) but I don't really feel it is my responsibility to adapt my playstyle to deal with the bugs and nerfs any longer. I've alreadly adapted a certain amount to deal with the massivenumber of bugs we have to put up with, and this is that proverbial straw that broke the camel's back for me.
At this point, I feel like the game has a lot of potential, but my philosophies diverge with those of the developers to such a degree that the game has lost its fun factor. I'll give it another month, maybe two, and then I'll find something better to do with twelve bucks a month.
Why should we be forced to exploit to level? They need to realize that the tide has turned and that most groups are mostly pets tanking. SWG tends to nerf to fix things and I understand the reasons they do this....but they really overnerf.
I went hunting with my husband for 2 nights using 2 different tactics. The first night we went to Yavin 4 and did missions and we used our cowardly gurreks for tanks. After 3-4 hours of hunting gackle bats and some klicknics I had gotten about 5k medical XP. He was getting about 3k PER KILL!!!!!! in pistol XP. Needless to say I was a bit discouraged......even though I had fun playing with him. The next night he often didnt send his pets in until he was in trouble and tanked the bats himself. Of course I had to heal him a lot more instead of the pets. This made it a bit of a struggle at times to keep him alive but at the end of the night I had gotten almost half of a doctor skill.
Why are we forced to exploit or use stupid tactics to level like any other profession now? I personally am getting tired of paying for the exploits that some people seem to lose sleep over thinking up every night .
I think they should bring back pet healing....but not at full XP. I would think 1/4 the XP would be fine...and make it so healing your own pet gives no XP. This is the nerf that should have fallen....not the whole building that fell on our heads.

This would be beautiful. I would have made master doctor already. I use stim d's on my pets and I would get huge xp even at 1/4 of what it was. I spend most of my time soloing with my pets so med xp is non existent for me. Even when I am in big hunting groups I dont get much xp because my pets take nearly all the damage.
getting a med driod and wandering around populated towns is a good way to get some xp as well. It's more interactive than camping the cantina/med center (therefor less boring) and you'd be surprised how many people are walking around with significant wounds. You can also buff people and get some extra xp and cash.
Good places to check for wounded people are bank, starport, and crafting stations.
