Thread: Charging for services

Unrelated FYI, /covercharge is in effect and available to all Entertainers already. It's just that most don't use it. The problem is there's a lot of AFK Ents not using it, so if an ATK Ent puts her covercharge on most customers will just go to the other dance/musician/etc. But it has, in fact, been put in effect,

i do not charge for my services but 9 out of 10 times i get tips from 1k-20k

but my primary income is from my other proesssion wich is master bounty hunter and my alternate charactor

but even without my alt char i make a million a day hunting npc missions ad 180k an hour and with that i get bounty hunting xp which i use to trade in the villiage for the fs xp at a ratio 1:1 and my alt makes about 5 million a week only because i been lazy i use to make that much in a day

my alt is a master architect, master droid engineer master artision and a merchant and a politican.

i agree that docs can charge and should charge or at least accept tips i do not charge but tips are gladly accepted because of the time idea.

but i do also agree that docs should do another profession as docs primary income if alone is the healing and tips is not always good and sometimes you run into situations where you cannot find anyone to heal.

there is soo many other ways to make money in this game which makes this game diffrent most other mmorpg out there the only way to make money is looting and maybe crafting here and their but the income thing is primary through npc merchants which here the devs do not use npc as much as i can tell they try to avoid it all together with a few exceptions of course lol.

so if your a doc and want to make money i suggest adding a 2nd profession would increase your money making idea's

Well, I agree with many of the posters here. I don't charge fees, but tips are very much appreciated. Since I don't expect anything, when I do get something it makes it all the better.

Even getting small tips from new players is nice. I don't give it back, though, as since I don't require it I'd expect what they give me to be something they can afford. Sorry, but many new players can afford the typical 2000 or so credits I average as tips, too. So I don't feel badly about it. I thank a player whether they tip me 1 credit or a million.

I've gotten some very nice tips, too. Usually from vets that realize what has happened to our profession and make a comment about it when they tip. Of course, the kind words mean a lot more to me than the money, as I'm a doc to help others and not necessarily to make money.

That aside, I also agree that we should be able to make money being a doc. I think anyone who says otherwise is full of BS. It's what we do. We've invested time and energy into it, and we should get something back out. Doc shouldn't be delgegated to being a second class profession. So long as it takes up the same amount of skill points and experience to master it as others do, it should be treated the same. It's really insulting to be told that you should be an entertainer to make money as a doc, especially. Compare the ease of mastering both professions, and tell me why entertainers should make money and docs not?

The real problem is, just like with the entertainers with the AFK bots not charging and taking customers away from the ones that truly deserve the payment, we docs right now can get just as screwed by the Jedi healing wounds. If we charge for our services, they'll just move on and find a Jedi that will heal their wounds instantly for free. I've had patients get frustrated at how long it takes to heal 1000+ wounds and leave to find a Jedi. Which is frankly insulting to those of us in the doc profession. And no, I did not and never do charge. On the other hand, if we don't charge for our services, we might get tipped or we might not for this large amountof time we spend doing this. This unbalance should be getting fixed soon, though, hopefully. We'll see.

I generally dont charge for healing wounds but accept tips if they are offered. The vast majority of people dont tip these days but those that do tip pretty well (around 5-10k).

The people who tip the least in my experience are those that have a massive amount of wounds from space and take up more of your time.

Most of the time I provide buffing for free too (and accept any tips if they are offered) but every so often I charge a little bit. Its free if your CL 20 or less, 2k for 20-53, and 4k if you are CL 54+. That way the lower levls get a boost for free and a helping hand when getting started and the more experienced who should be able to afford it pay if they want buffed.

The only hard and fast rule I have is that i wont buff/heal anyone unless they ask me. If i'm sitting and offering wound healing/buffing it's only polite to say hello and say that you'd like healed/buffed. I wont help the people that wander up and stand in front of you and just expect to be healed. If i'm sitting and advertising my services it's because i want to take a break from the usual grind and interact with people a bit more. Thats something you used to get in the med centers but now they are not needed you have to do that some other way. The cantina can sometimes be too crowded for this as there is loads of spam from entertainers and others who are afk.

Honey gets you further than vinegar, but sometimes vinegar is a good idea too...

Yesterday, some guy was in Theed (Gorath) screaming for a Doc. My toon, aMBH, and my buddy, Master Doc, overheard him. So, I shouted for the guy to come out and get a heal at the bazaar, where we were.I told him that the fee was 30k (I was only kidding around and wanted to roleplay a bit). We had an interesting convo; to paraphrase, it sounded like this:

Reggie: My buddy here will get you all patched up. He only charges 30k to boot!

Buddy: (heals the newb's 30 or so wounds...) OK, you're all set.

Noob: Wow, too bad I don't have money. I'm broke.

Reggie: What you didn't pay? After you've been healed? Oh, no, you gotta die for that

(Reggie pulls out his carbine, challenges noob to /duel)

Buddy: Behave Reggie.

Reggie: No man! You should be paid for your services! He knew the price for the heal, now he's GOTTA PAY!

Noob: I think I'll pass... (runs off)

Buddy: lol, you're bad. He did tip me!

Reggie: Oh? Well then, he shoulda spoke up and said something. Almost had to bust a cap in that ass...

Noob 2: I paid for my heals. Are you gonna shoot me too?

Reggie: (after /stare at Noob 2) NO... Not today, but ONLY b/c you paid...

Noob 2: Thank you kind sir.

Reggie: GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE before I change my mind. (Noob 2 exits).

...moments later.

Reggie: LOL

Buddy: LOL

Reggie: I love to tease the new guys, someone has to do it!

Moral of the story: if you're having trouble getting paid for your Doctoring, have a BH rough up your clientele!

Haha!

I'm surprised no one is wanting to add player bounties to the game to cover this. Have a fee for healing wounds, and they either pay up or a BH gets a mission on them.
