Marc,

Before you bump this thread to death you should know that the idea of a buff bot of various styles, sizes, shapes and colors have been brought here so many times it is not funny.

All have died.

The basic reason they all die is that the game is intended to force interaction between players. Buffing is one of those forced interaction. In fact, it is a very important one.

Each prof has skills that it alone has. Those skills help define that prof from the other prof. The use of buff and cures are what make a doc a doc and not a medic or a combat medic. Replacing the doc with a bot would greatly subtract from that which makes a doc a doc.

If you say that "but you would still craft the buffs" my reply will be that docs are not chefs.

So why don't Armoursmiths or weaponsmiths need personal contact with those that buy their wares? When you are buffing, are you notselling your wares too?

I think this would be a good idea, but only for Master Docs. I would love to have a bot do my buffing as well as sell crafted medicalitems also. Not I would not agree if the bots were able to the same strength as a MD, a reduced power would be ok with me.

Don't like this idea. I know that several player cities have "buff-bots" for the use of their guilds.

To me, the whole point of being a doctor is interacting with other players, if it's buffing or healing. Until the hologrind hell, hospitals were useful and full of people needing heals. Maybe with the new jedi system, that will begin to change (wishful thinking).

It's easy enough for a guild or playercity to set up a buffbot. No need for nurses to take out what's left of the interaction between docs and players.

I totally disagree with this...sounds to me that someone just wants to get buffs and not wait in line....Since when is buffs a right? For a long time people didnt even get buffs until a number of months ago. So for all of us who blow out a LARGE portion ofour sp to bemasters u want any non-master doc to set up a buff bot.

Just level up to Master Doc and you wont have to worry bout buffs....

Buffs are not a "right" but in practice they have become essential to how people
play the game, for better or worse (mostly worse.)

People line up in Coronet to get Buffs to go do high level content or go PVPing.

If there was a way to reflect a doctor's skill in the "nurse vendor" he could put
down then I don't think it would be unfair at all.

I'm a doctor myself by the way, and have it at 4440. I buff myself and I don't really
like buffing others, it's time consuming but occasionally I'll do it if I need a few
extra bucks, or if my guild is going somewhere and we all need to get buffed up.

The idea isn't to mess up the doctor profession, just to enhance it so that everyone
can benefit more from it. You can't tell me Docs enjoy sitting in the plaza of Coronet
buffing and doing crowd control. If you do you're insane

Sorry for the zillion bumps in the start of this thread by the way. I forgot there
was an edit button because I had just woken up.

First this should ONLY be a MASTER DOCTOR thing!!!

2nd the Nurse should not have as powerfull buffs as docs, Say around the 1000-2000 range. That way it doesnt come close to rivaling a master docs buffs.

3rd not enhancing food or clothing can be worn by the nurse...well maybe a nice little skirt or something

Nurse kits would be a cool idea

/agreed

Only a doctor can place a hospital so its only fair that only a Master Doctor should be able to place a nurse in a player hospital.

I don't see what the "buffing problem" is though. Sure, some players are on at odd hours when there are less players available to get buffs. But that problem is present for every player at those times, for every profession. It's not just docs. Those who play at off-peak times still get by, and will continue to do so.

If the problem is that you're too impatient to wait in line for buffs like everyone else, then that has nothing to do with the doc profession itself. It's just part of the game. I admit I've wished at times that the doc trainers in the NPC hospitals could heal our wounds a bit faster if we paid out a few k credits--because there were no medics or docs anywhere to be found (that would heal at least), but that has gotten a bit better as of late.

In any case, I would rather see the end of current buff bots rather than an implementation of further buff bots. It's not good for the game (which is supposed to be interaction with players) and it's not good for the doctor community (which would lose business, no matter what).

You can't get buffed at all times, because a doctor isn't always there.

Meaning you log on, spend an hour searching for a doc, you don't find one,
and you basically can't play the game. I'd call that a SERIOUS problem.

The problem isn't that there is content that is designed for groups. That is the way the game is and should be. There is plenty of content for solo play, and there is plenty of content for group play. Since SWG is a MMORPG, it is essential to have content that requires a group, just as much as it is important to have conent for the solo player. Whether or not everyone in that group needs a buff is up for debate (and certainly depends on the level of the content). So the problemyou're referring toreally goes back to not having doctors available to give buffs, which I commented on previously.

Buffs aren't required to enjoy the plethora of conent SWG has to offer. Sure, it allows you to defeat super-high end content easily, but it isn't required to have fun. Especially if you're in a group, you can accomplish a lot without buffs, as long as you know how to fight effectively. I'm sure the developers didn't envision half of the content in the game to be solo-able, nor did they want it playable only if you hvae a doctor buff. I'm really hoping that with the CU (which includes fixing doc buff strength), reaching that higher-end content will still be challenging--and therefore fun--even with a buff, thus requiring buffs to have fun not mandatory.
