Thread: Question from one buffer (dancer) to another (doctor)

omg, imagine the cnet cantina with every entertainer with a bot, not very logical, lol! Being a former Master Dancer and always been a Master Doctor, all dancers have to do is dance, or musicians have to do is play. I've seen MANY entertainers, period, have 8 minute macros that go allllll night long without a problem. They just get a quickness buff every 3-4 hours. That's another benefit they have. Master Doc's can't sit and let a macro go. We can macro all we want but not like entertainers can. So there's another plus for entertainers. Master Dancer buffs take 8 minutes as it is I believe. I think 6 minutes is fair to make a good living. Docs make a lot of money, yeah, but there's a lot of effort behind it as well whether you buy your buffs and just buff or you gather your own resources and craft each set by hand or via factory. I still think Entertainers have it good, being a former Master Dancer but never tried since the new foods...

I need my buff. I need it now. I need it fast. I need it good.

I am all for speading up the mind stat buffs. It only helps the TKM side of me.

I am very much a entertainer simpathizer. I make 3.5 hr quickness buffs that I give for free to them as a little extra tip.

IMO dancing is the hardest way to make a living in the game. Sitting in the same cantina all the time with all the crappy spams from AFK holo grinders would be enough to kill me.

It is not like getting mind buffs in any way impact doc buffs. Most docs are also some kind of fight class and a good mind buff along with their self administered health/action buff can make any doc a god.

I dont care about how long entertainer buffs take to apply. What I do care about is the price. On chilly they go for roughly 5k for the dancer and another 5k for the musician. (atleast what i have seen, i dont get mind buffs that often).

This is rediculus. It dosnt take any recources to use entertainer buffs, it doesnt take you all going out and pay rediculus prices for recources, it dosnt take stock pilling of the best recources you can find because never know when they will be available again. Not to mention that you all can buff 19 people at a time!

I would gladly pay 15-20k or more for a dancer's mind buff and musician's secondaries buffs, and have numerous times. As a Master Doc/TKA, I am always thankful and appreciative of an entertainer in the cantina's regardless if they are afk or not simply because I cannot cure my own battle fatigue, nor can I buff my mind.

As a former Master Dancer I sympathize completely with entertainers and can speak from experience that its frustrating as hell, even when I was buffing 19 at a time that it would take so dang long to get everyone buffed, especially before raids or pvp events. The shock and disbelief that it would take "forever" in some opinions and that my time was "not worth" the 10k price tag for a Master Dancers buff was disheartening. Hardcore pvp'ers know that you use every resource available to you to get the edge and beat your opponent. Since mind pool buffsstack above food/drink and spice it can often give you the edge and help you win.

No it doesnt take resources to buff the mind pool. It just takesa slip of an outfit, and a bit of personality tostay in a cantina all night and be friendly. Thanks to the current hologrinding, finding an Master Dancer/Musicsian (at least on Shadowfire) is about as rare as obtaining a GDK scale.

When I started this thread, something completely slipped my mind. Oftentimes, there is a cost related when we buff. Because of the fact that stat migration is so slow, many dancers have to choose to keep their action stats as high as possible at all time, or, if they partake in other professions like TK, will have to keep mind fairly high with a lower action. When someone decides to lower their action because they have other professions they want to play, they will often be in need of action buffs from a doctor in order to be the best buffer possible. Buffing seriously drains your action pool. So, the cost associated with this is both time (standing in a doctor buff line for 10 minutes), and financial. I will often try to get just action buffs for half price, around 5k. Often I'll be lucky enough to be able to. But, then there are some doctors who complain that by doing that they are ruining their ratio of health to action buffs. So, they might charge me a little more than half price (6k or 7k). I've even had doctors absolutely refuse to do it and say all or none. At which point I end up having to pay a full 10k even though I don't need the health buffs. Then, of course, there are travel costs to get someplace like coronet to find the doctor buff. Then, there are travel costs to get wherever you're planning on buffing. Sometimes that's over 3k if you're going to an adventure planet like dathomir in the hopes of finding people out there who might want to buy a mind buff. So, taking that all in consideration. Sometimes I have to sell one buff, perhaps two at full price before I even begin to start showing a profit on my venture. And, I almost *alway* try to get doc buffs (or at least food) when I'm planning on offering my services as a buffer for any length of time. This does two things. First it allows me to make absolutely sure that the mind buff I give will last the full two hours. And second, it lessens the action regeneration time in between buffs to lessen the wait time for the next client in line. So, yes, a great many dancers do have real financial costs associated with their buffing.

dancers and musicians can buff 19 people in 30 seconds, given the right macro and a bit of healing or a quickness buff.

Docs need AVIAN meat. Period. End of story. Give us the sympathy.

Heh...I'm not asking for sympathy here. I'm not saying all the dancers are downtrodden. I'm just asking the doctor community if they would have any real beef or think it unfair if the dancer buff time was reduced.

Besides, there's a new fix in the works. Dancers will no longer be able to speedbuff in 30 seconds. And, a minimum of two minutes of dancing will be tacked on to your regular buff time. So, what used to take a dancer 10 minutes, is now going to take a dancer 12 minutes. Even if a dancer spams flourishes that you don't see in order to reduce the buff time, the bare minimum we're going to be looking at is 7 minutes (5 minute quicker buff +2 minute minimum). The days of the 30 second speedbuff are gone.
