I am not yet an MD, so my buffs aren't MD quality, I still get my fair share of tells (I guess people don't realize Master Surgeons aren't the same thing as MDs [nicer title, though]) for buffs. Since they aren't the best, I let people name their price, and usually end up with between 3K and 10K for a set (H/A C's, secondary B's). Once I hit MD, and I'm close, I'm probably going to use the following structure:

10K for the set (or more, I haven't figured out an appropriate number), up front. For every buff that hits below a certain number (1000? 1500? not sure) I /tip back 1K. That way, people only pay premium prices for premium quality buffs.

On a somewhat related matter, what is an appropriate price for ambulance service? By that, I mean you hop on your bike, ride out into the hinterland and rez the fallen. The lone request for that service I've received I responded with 5K to get me movin', 5K when I get there, and they balked. If you ask me, you're already paying about 5K for cloning and insurance, and you still get hit with 1%. On top of that, you have to insure again. Isn't the avoidance worth at least 10K?

Oh ya... And save some low level buffs (500 or lower) for the whiney jerk who finally pays for a buff after yelling and screaming all around the outpost what a rip off you are.

my buffs will always remain 5k no matter the buff effectiveness . to some in this game 10k can be a bit steep and it sure as heck doesnt cost us near that much to make em

oh and before anyone replies with my buffs effectiveness they are 919 13100 actions and 800? 12700 rest until i get better resources . duration is what counts since i can hit up to 3200 with junk buffs . the effectiveness is totally random . average is about 1800 - 2200

None of this is necessary. I totally oppose setting a fixed price for enhancements for a number of reasons. First and foremost, what we have to offer is in many ways priceless. A doctor can cure every state, revive slain players, and can relieve any DOT save flames...and that in itself makes a doctor one of the most important professionals in the game. We are in demand. How we handle that demand dictates our image to others, and the value placed upon the services we have to offer.

The execution of stat enhancement is not a stable thing. It varies so much that I have decided, for myself, that it is a gamble in probabilities. A Weaponsmith can produce an elite carbine that will solidly deliver damage within a specified range each time it is fired. An Armorsmith can create protection that offers definite resists that prove true every time the wearer is hit. But a doctor, on the other hand, takes his chances each time he uses an enhancement pack. The only guarantees you have: you will never hit below the base of the pack in question, and the enhancement will always last the same amount of time from the same pack. Yet stat enhancement can enable a player to go far beyond what is ordinary and normal, and there really is no way to place a fixed value on that.

I believe pricing is best left to the discretion of the doctor. For some, resource gathering is difficult. For others, like myself, it is not. Over time I have established a network of friends that keep me supplied with those resources that I am unable to gather myself. In return I am only too happy to offer them the services that only a doctor can provide. I rarely station myself around starports to buff. When I do, I never spam that I am there to buff, nor do I yell out prices for my services. Instead, I merely activate my title above my head for all to see, and have my medical droid called out and grouped with me. Players do indeed come to me, and because I haven't been spamming I am at liberty to choose who I buff and who I won't. I have from time to time spotted a new player trying to make their way through their first week, and will send them a message to come over to me for a surprise.

My general rule of thumb is 1k per stat enhanced. Even with a 22 charge pack that I didn't do so well on, that's 22K I make for it...and it cost much, much less than that to make. My buffs seems to average between 1800 - 2300 regaredless of the pack I use...and my all time high hit, 3275, was with a pack that had a 760 or so base.

It's my belief that what I like to call "buff peddling" is actually what hurts us (ie, spamming at starports). A doctor's prices should be up to the doctor himself (herself or itself), for our enhancement packs costs each of us differently in some way. I have never lacked for business by simply sitting on the ground with my title up, and droid out. In fact I have had to store the droid and the hit the road after 15 minutes because I was buffing like mad.

I've been charging 10k for a little over a month now. Not very many complaints on the price. I have had a few people somewhat skeptical tho. We come to a compromise on the price. Most recently : they pay 6k if 2 or more hit below 1000. None did and they paid me 10k and then some.

I have also found that there are still some people who are completely clueless about buffs. One guy was calling me nuts for charging this much then they asked well how long do they last. 2.5-3 hours, I say. They were dumbfounded. They thought they only lasted as long as spice or food!

I was thinking of trying this, when buffing, is charging 1credit per point buffed this will cover all ranges of doctor levels plus the occasional under 1000 issue...so if you can buff consintenlt at 2200-3300 that would be a fair range of 10K + to 15k + this way it is a win win situation for everyone....So it would go, first buff 2150 they tip 2150.. etc...Just wanted to get some feed back

This is a decent idea, but can be a pain overall for adding up the variable buffs each time. I kind of take all this in consideration and just charge a flate rate fee of 1K per buff and 5K for all 6.

It might be worth a try though. I also use 1cr per wound as a base ratefor healing as well, so it all sorta fits together nicely.

I cant believe how you master Docs are god.. Ive had blinders on to this lol...

Harvest your own resources! Real Simple.. you will save yourself a ton! Dont group together in some Doctors union as I for one WILL NOT join this and will continue to charge my usual 4k a set!

I have the same or better quality as all of you... I can hit a little over 3300 with my buffs and they last for 3 hours almost.. so its not a matter of quality vs cost.
