I plan to finish up with my last crafting block tonight. The 10k a buff sounds good to me.

This is interesting. I totally oppose price fixing. I personally had been charging 10k for a full set of buffs. Recently I've been working on TKA in order to become a TKM/MD mix and havn't been focusing on the sale of buffs. At the end of every night i will go to the starport and flash my Master Doc sign and wait for the tells (i stay there for 10 minutes max and then log).

I'm not rich yet and only have about 600k on me (i buy brandy to support my TKA habbit), and have started charging 20k for a full set. To my delight, they have been selling about 70% of the time. I get the occasional F* off or you're nuts, but i don't care if they go to the other guy, my profit margins are HUGE. And with the demise of any class4 on my server I don't know when we'll have the resources to make more. I'm going to continue to charge 20k and am happy if i close 50% of my deals rather than 100% at 6k/buff. I still get more /tells than i can handle. Look at what chefs are charging for their new products not to mention a 6k mind buff from a dancer or musician ( that would equal a 36k full doc buff and ours are stronger).

Talk about price fixing all you want, i'm going the other direction and raising my prices. All you Sams Club Docs out there, more power to ya, i prefer to work smart vs. work hard.

I am about as anti-pricefixing as you can get. I dont even have a fixed charge much less a fixed charge that matches other. When asked "how much for a buff". I smile and say, tip what you think the buff is worth to you. It is so funny to see thier response.

I have tried many other systems and this works the best for me. Here are some reasons, data, and observations

- As a doc I want to help folks. If I wanted to kill them I would be a different prof and if I wanted to make cash I would be a different prof. If someone walks up and says "I know the going rate for a buff is xxx but I only have yyy would you mind buffing me and I will pay you more when I make some cash" my reply is always "pull up a chair". Yes, I do expect to get paid and paid well but I want most is to have a good time.

- I would say I get far more than the average doc. Not a brag just letting you know that this system has not driven me to a Wal-Mart prices.

- I have 900+ packs. This magnifies the range of the buff. So some get great stats and some get good stats. By letting them pick the price thepay more closely for what they get.

- People love the concept and will wait in my line just for that reason. You might think that the nebie players with out much cash would be the ones to jump on this but they aren't. Many of my customers are the uber players and they tip a ton because they like the idea. I get 20k+ tips all the time which more than make up for the lower end of the spectrum. By fixing a price you may bring up the low end but may also chop off the upper end.

- Things may change when static buffs come into play. Since I will be able to tell folks up front what they will get I may go to a fixed price. I think, however, I may keep a set of low grade buffs around for the freebies for newbies.

- The biggest cost in buffs is the docs time (harvesting, crafting, and buffing). Who is to say what that time is worth? Only the individual doc in my opinion.

- Each person should charge what they think the market will bear. Every surver has different economy and that economy changes (inflation).

Just my thoughts.

When I can buff the exact same buff every time I will be charging 1cr per point buffed, 2500 buff will cost 2500cr.

Right now with the stupid random buffing I charge 10k a set.

Price fixing is just too communist for me, this is a free market and everyone has the right to charge what they will.

Who's laughing now?

Look at what has come about to all of those people who were like, no increasing prices doesn't work etc...

NOW try and find a decent buff under 12k.

Peace.

I just became a master doc last week and love it. At first I was charging 12k per buffs, i had descent buffs, and I sat out at a remote location to save poeple the time from traveling to the popular buff spots (coronet). I was making a lot of money fast, and everyone was super happy that I was there for them... it didnt matter what I was charging. Some people gave me 15k or 20k just because I was there.

Then it seemed all of a sudden, docs were popping up everwhere charging 5k - 6k and telling me they were doing it because they were tired of spending 10k -12k with their alt. Im alittle frustrated that there are a few docs out there that are millionaires, and are only doing the profession to put the rest of us out of business. Am I the only one that has run into this? Please tell me im not alone and it will get better, lol. I love buffing, and I will even go to people when they need me, just send me (an-du) a /tell .

For what it's worth, the price varies a lot from server to server. For example on Bloodfin right now, the standard buff price is about 10k and has been for months. It often goes up to 12k or higher if they are the only doctor buffing and there is high demand and/or their packs are ultra good (ie +2500 for 3.5 hours or something like that). If one is competing/being cheap the price gets lowered to 8k. I've only ever seen one person buffing for 6k, and they were doing that to get med XP, and because they had less than optimal packs.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Before you post, look a the date on the first post. This thread is very old. It was even during the random buffs.

Marrow, I share your philosophy. I am a doctor to help people, and as long as I am able to make some money, I'm happy to charge as little as I can.

I've been told that my server (Chilastra) has one of the worst inflated economies of all of the servers. I do my best to attempt to correct that. I realize that some people take onthis issue from the perspective that if the market is allowing 12k buffs, to charge what the market demands. Others, like me, take the other side of this. Instead of charging the going rate, we charge what we feel is a more fair, non-market driven cost. For instance, based on my costs, I tend to charge 6k for full master buffs, 1k per stat. 1k covers my costs to maintain factories, buy power, and acquire resources, with a decent profit. I get enough credits to stay in business and can offer a service that helps others.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think it's wrong to charge a going rate. I simply think that when an economy inflates to a point where goods cost tens and hundreds of thousands of credits, that something is wrong and I personally try to not get into the credit frenzy.

On Kauri, 10k seems to be the standard for buffs right now, but I am seeing more and more people buffing for 12, and i haven't heard a lot of complaint. i also notice that players are more informed about buffs in general and they will ask a doc his buff stats and ARE willing to pay more for what they perceive to be "better" buffs, and are a bit more leery to go to the guy buffing for 6-8k. I also notice docs on the remote planets buffing for around 15k, which is most people dont like, but the alternative is to buy a ticket, wait for a shuttle, wait in line for a doc to buff you at a starport (which is usually full of people,) buy another ticket, then finally get back to wherever you were going.

Ugh why did you revive that old thread? You are wrong anyway... First, buffs are still 10k on my server for the most part, second lots of people still charge less than that... So yeah, it doesn't work.
