Thread: Is it just me or does something need to be done with the med xp conversion/cap???

I think the biggest problem you'll see regardless of what the cap level is set for won't be docs running away from buff lines. It's going to tbe hte 'new' village that springs up outside, where 50 docs heal their tumbling alts all day to trade the xp.

I know the path to becoming a jedi should not be easy. Heck I am the first one to say it should not be overnight. But with a conversion rate of 10 medical xp--->1 FS sense xp point, that only grabs us 8k FS xp per each time we cap our medical xp as master doctors. As 1.2 million FS xp is needed for a complete branch, with only using medical xp as a main source, it would take 12 million medical xp to train just one branch in the heightened senses tree of the FS skills. Something needs to be done about this. Either raise the cap from 80k to something like 800k (still only 80k FS xp mind you) or the conversion rate should be lowered to say 5---->1. Again, this isn't because I think jedi should be easy to get, but rather because 12 million medical xp with only a 80k cap is more than excessive to most everyone you speak with. Also, if Agent001 or the combat medic/medic correspondents could forward this to the appropriate dev for suggestion/concerns, it would be appreciated

Today I was unable to get buffs, there were three Docs with "lines closed" I went to Theed, Coronet, Bestine (completely deserted) and Dantooing Mining Outpost. I do not believe that three Docs all ran out of packs. At least one and probably all three were leaveing to convert their xp to fsxp.

I don't blame the docs, but that is a severe flaw in the system and should be fixed quickly. I have only been completely unable to get buffs once since I started playing about a year ago and I usually play around midnight to 4 am. Today I had 3 hours to spare before work and thought I could get a buff set and have some fun. Ended up running around the galaxy and came out with nothing after an hour of searching. This has never happened during the day before, and like I said itsonly happened once in the middle of the night.

I did not run out of buffpacks nor converted XP.

After an hour of buffing, it get really damn old.

So I simply close shop and go do something else.

Padtai, just one comment I would like to make. When you say other professions have similar caps and a slow grind, take one elite combat profession for example. They only need to cap their xp 20 times to gain the 1.2 million FS xp needed for their trees (this is including elite combat xp and regular combat xp). Us doctors have to cap our xp 150 times, as we do not have the luxury of gaining two types of xp when buffing. Also, people keep saying there are always the "doc in a day" tricks that can be used. However, I am not a grinder, I don't mind waiting, but the way the system is set up for us, I am pretty much forced to grind if I don't want to wait 5 months to train up one branch (mind you 6 are needed to become jedi). As a whole, I have no problems with the trees that allow combat xp to be converted, but the crafting and senses FS trees are getting ridiculous.

Ehh... I was under the impression that they fixed it so you no longer get xp for buffing a pet. I will have to test that later today. Or can anybody confirm this?

And yes, the cap together with the conversion ratio is not reasonable. Every profession should basically have the same cap - meaning that to get X amount of Force XP, each profession should reach the cap exactly the same number of times.

You do not get XP for healing injured pets.

Healing wounds and buffing still gets XP.

All the Devs did was remove an incentive to keep a group's pets alive.

Well, I am glad I sparked a good discussion, but I would really appreciated a correspondent commenting and acknowledging a problem here.

I appreciate the Docs a lot. 100k is a bit much but I have no qualms about paying 25k if that's what the Doc wants. I'm just saying that I doubt it's a coincidence that this situation has NEVER happened before, but suddenly no docs buffing. It's not a fault ofthe docs, it's a flaw in the system that would be easy to fix by raising the xp cap for Master Doctors. There has to ba a cap, but 80k is too low.

Callopo, remember that combat experience accrues much more slowly than the specific weapon experience that people get (1/10th as fast maybe?). So saying its not fair becuasecombat types get two and we get just one, isn't the whole story. Not to mention, I think we DO get two types--medicine crafting and the regular healing experience. And for most of us, crafting accrues much more slowly if at all. But here is the kicker. We can gain experience right in the village, perhaps even get paid for it. People come expecting to find a buffer already at the vilalge and the place has only been up a few days. No other profession has mission terminals or the ability to put up vendors or factories or anything to do what they do right in the village the way we can. So if our cap is shorter, perhaps that is fair enough.

Ultimately I wouldn't care if the dev's raised our cap, but I can think of many things I'd rather have our very busy development team deal with first, so I would not hold your breath on having one of them comment on this topic.

I tell you now, do not ask the devs to raise the cap. SOE has shown how they handle things like that. They would smile and say 'you wanted a higer cap? Done, your exp cap had been increased 300%' Then you would go to a city somewhere, sit down and gather a crowd for some buffing only to find out that they removed healing exp for buffing.
