I personally love beinga Master Doctor. If you solo a lot, which I do, then Master Doctor is invaluable. I have enough resources to sell some wound packs on the Bazaar, that pays for traveling costs. Plus; I have enough to make meds for guild mates, myself, and people I know.

I would have a really hard time giving up Doctor, that is why I am not going "Holo Hunting." I love the profession so much, I dont want to leave to chase the imaginary carrot.

C'mon, FanMan, there's no need for that. This person has some legitimate concerns from their experience with the profession. Just because their experience is different than yours doesn't make their experience any less relavent. If nothing else pleny of folks here have given some good advice and workarounds for some of those issues, but they ARE relavent issues that many Docs have gone through when getting into this professions.

Some of us were pretty lucky in figuring out the workarounds and ways to make money, others have had problems with that and come here seeking help. That's no reason to refer to someone like that negatively. Are you suggesting that nobody has ever helped you out before when you needed it?

Be a bit more considerate, dude. Most of us pride outselves on having a fairly civil forum, unlike some of the others. Please don't ruin it for us.

I made money with Doctor. Well, Doctor/Artisan. I started selling my extra organics. Soon I began specializing in Water, Domesticated Oats, and Berries. I made a ton of money off the other Doctors!!! If you went to the market and searched the galaxy for Domestic Oats (of good quality), you found me. Made a million in six weeks.

I've retired from that. Right now, I'm harvesting and selling avian meat. A good night of hunting can net me 15k in credits.

If you limit yourself, there is only one person to blame.

Well...

I have read the post about what needs to be fixed which I think is only the start of a decent profession. However I would like to say I am very upset at wasting my time on this profession for a few reasons: I am sorry you feel this way.

1. To Create Enhance D's it is quite frustrating to make them decent with all the different things you must do to create them and you can spend up millions just on making a crate of Enhance D's when you hardly make money on doctor. Not sure about millions, maybe if you had to buy every single resource after you started with nothing, but still even that is pushing it.

2. With all the resource changes you cannot always find what you need to make decent Enhances so you make go through weeks before you can make more. This is true, but it is also true with any crafting profession. Try starting out as a new weaponsmith, you wont get far for a long time. However, it isnt that hard to make "decent" stuff starting out.

3. The buffs... I do not like at all how the range vary on these I can buff for about 3k then it will drop to 900.... This can be annoying yes I agree, but is it really something to be mad about?

4. Money... You hardly make any money with doctor because of all the stuff you must pay for to make your items. Hardly true. I operate a small business via email with no vendors at all, it is all about return customers and referalls basically, and I bring in enough to cover my expenses of all my resources, and then some. Also spending an hour in popular places buffing for cash is an easy way if you are short some or stocking bazaar with woundpacks is also good money.

5. Most items require way to much just to make them and with how much you pay for your resources or spending the money on your harvesters you lose a ton of money. If Well, I guess I harvest all my own resources which costs about .5 per. I guess if you bought everything off bazaar it would be this way, or found very expensive people to buy from in bulk. I know on my server resources usually range from 2-5 per after a shift is done. Also check out Combat Medics(my other profession), on Corbantis, Tolium gas spawned for the second time ever, Eleton has spawned only once, and Class 1 radioactive very few as well.

The main reason I am upset is because of the crafting and I have lost millions in a week just on doctor. I think many people will agree with me on the money making issue and the crafting issue. I would like to see changes in doctor or I regret to say I will be taking leave in SWG.

Some things just arent for everyone. I enjoy what I do with my character, and I went doctor to support my other profession and have no problems doing so. If its true that you lost millions, I am sorry but doctor is definately a money making profession when played right. I also dont really see the crafting issue as I pride myself on being able to make *better than average* meds and if everyone made the same stuff, I probably would drop doctor.

The only thing I've managed to lose millions on were my 40 heavy harvesters, rendered obsolete by the new uber mediums.

I make standard Pack D with 25 charges all the time, head for busy Starport and before i can even get to the shuttle i have 6 guys standing around me for buffs, I have been charginf the same price all along 1K per 1K buffed it's an average of 8K or so, multiply by 25 because i only bring one pack of each enh. for others per tripso yeah by the time i m done buffing the folks that are waiting another 5 are waiting to get buffed... so the point is: within 40 min i have used up all my packs atabout 8K per clients thats 8k x 25 uses = 200K in 40 mins wherecan you make that much legit cash?cost waslittleunder40K for set of packs...

I, like many, made Master Doc... Honestly, I did that so I could place a hospital, but after playing with it for a week or so I'm loving it! I planned on being a doc in some capacity anyhow... Even if it was just enough to do small buffs and revive players. I sell stim B creates, so wanted master chemist anyhow... so Doc was the way to go. But after being here for a bit, I have to say WOW. I've never sold a buff (though accepted donations)... and I don't really need to for credits... BUT if I was hard up for cash?? heck!! I've got enough I can buy a few resources off the bazaar... run some small creates and make up a few buffs to sell... I mean really?? even junk buffs are better then nothing.

I did once sit in front of the Theed cantina (was waiting on someone to meet with me) and while there and bored anounced "BUFFS FOR DONATIONS" I only had B's at the time and got many takers... enough in fact that I ran out of enhance packs... in donations alone I made a nice chunk!! Some even tipped the usual 5k (but that was rare) normally reserved for master doc enhancements. most tipped around 1-3k Thats pretty good cash flow for what it takes to make B's

If I'm ever broke. Doc will pay the way!

I had a friend give up doc just a week ago. (stupid holo's) lets just say it was the worse mistake he ever made. I myself range anywhere from 1mill to 5 mill hey I once got to 10. I am broke now due to skill tapes and medical resources. I am one of the most sought out doctors for buffs and medical supplies. I love doc and would never give it up.

I just wanted to say in response to what Zarlor said....I agree. I've been working toward Master Doctor for about 2 months (trying not to grind and let it come when it comes in game). This is the nicest and most informational forum I've seen.

I would also like to say I am never giving up Doctor. It's the best profession in the game for having fun and helping out other players. I am always offered money for my services. Honestly, I think its the poor medics who get rooked out of money for their services. Holocron searching is for the adventure classes, someone is still going to need to be around to heal people of the nasty wounds.

Oh and my tip for making money....buy a food factory and mass produce ABECs....come the Stim D, everyone needs them from a crate. You sell them in crates of 10 for 10k a crate (which is probably cheap), and you will make money. If you don't have a vendor, break them into crates of 3 and sell for 3K on the bazaar. Works for me, anyway.

If you're on the Naritus server and you need med products...look me up with an in-game tell or visit Thunderdome on Rori and buy the Chalice med product line!

Thanks!

I made millions and millions selling Dolivote Iron and Petro 4! That stuff was selling for 40 cpu at one time on my server!

You 'll never make any money healing wounds or damage, but there are a lot of other ways to make money.

1.) Buffing

2.) Selling Stimpak and Enchance pak

3.) Selling Doc resource to other Doc

I made 20 Millions so far as master doctor... and my ressource stock is probably worth 20 millions as well.

:-)

Collecting good ressource is hard but fun...

If you dont want to collect ressources, if you where even buying ressources for 10 credit per units (wich is false because you can get them average 5 cr / units) you would still be making lots of money because you can sell med packs for a value of 20 credit per ressources... and you can apply medicine yourself for much more...

The point is, you can have two professions, so if money is an issue and, like me, you don't enjoy making meds and even less sell them, choose another profession that will help you get some money.
