Why do we have state/poisen/disease cures and res then? Any why were we later given area cures and fireblankets? CM got mostly offensive skills and Doc got defensive ones, you'll have to expalin why you think Doc isn'tmeant forcombat support.

I would like to see any Doctor rez from inside coronet med center especialy if your on talus either that or feild hospital away from the fighting and expect the person on fire to run all the way to you for help.We are also front line healers as such need protection ,if not, combateers will find themselves spending a lot more time in the cloning facilities.

If thats what they want thats whate they will get.

I have half a mind to call a Medic and Doctors strike that sould upset the apple cart. They other half is laughing because it knows it wont happen, but think no doctors or medics ,thats like having no entertainers or architects, weaponsmiths, armoursmiths, chefs, tailors, you need all of us . The others may not be needed in the feild but you need all of us just the same, so please let us do our chosen proffession or just get rid of it because if it is to difficult to do it most people wont bother other than to get the badge.Doctors will be come scarce and if you think the prices they are charging for there services are bad now (i know some do) wait til theres nloy a handfull.

Ok, I gotta say this..........as originally designed? You mean I've been playing a hacked beta for almost 9 months now???

Ok, while I agree that it might make combat more fun, what about the other half? How about all the roleplayers that suddenly won't have a job, customers, or a reason to roleplay? That's one of the big draws of SWG, and something no other MMORPG has........roleplaying, with a well-established system of characters, the ability to choose what you'll be, how you'll do it, and how you'll play it afterwards. Take that away, turn all the focus to combat, and you lose everything SWG is. You've got WoW with wookiees.....yippee. Personally, us docs have already been fighting with the "here boy, here boy, rez me, that's a goooood boy, here's a cookie" mentality of some players, then we get hit with the GCW "upgrade" that makes it difficult to heal, now this........I'll say it again, I didn't get into doc for the money, and in fact, when I started doc, I had no intention of buffing in starports, but I'm glad I did. Contacts and friends are nice to have. This will remove that aspect of the game as well, we as docs (and other non-combatants, as well) are being forced to fight, or risk losing everything we've worked for.

Yeah, it's just a game, I know, and if I quit, no hard feelings. But, I've also paid $15 a month, $150 total, to play this game, not including the $60 for the game itself, plus another $30 if you buy the new expansion. That's alot of cash, at least for me, RL, only to have everything I played for get nerfed, to match WoW.......nice.

*note* I expect to get banned soon............... *

The closest I have seen to roleplaying in the last year is "R U a TKA?"

I certainly haven't seen any RP docs.. though some people think sitting at a starport shouting prices and being mad te can't heal PVP players counts as doc medical ethics...

(No I don't play on starsider).

You haven't seen it, because RP docs don't sit in starports.......

You're right, in some respects........but there is a core roleplaying group out there, and I can tell you the one thing other players see about docs..........rich macros. When I started as doc, no real macros had been in use, and certainly not in public places. In the last 4 months, if I've wanted to sit in a starport, buff, and talk (gather info, so to speak), I've had to compete with at least two macros......and people wonder why Doc is getting killed. In defense of the devs, if I were sitting in their chairs, and I saw that 80% of the docs on any particular server weren't even players, just accounts with a macro running, I'd start to question the validity of the profession myself. Couple that with the sheer number of "how can I macro this" or "somebody give me a macro for........", and I'd probably nerf it myself. Nobody's using it, anyway.

As far as RP docs, there's a few, more than you think. For my part, I have my main house outside the MOP, and when I get a request for a buff, or a heal, I ask the person to come to my med center, and I'll take care of them there. I don't do random housecalls..........most do, get a bit of fun out of it, count it as a trip to the local clinic for a pick-me-up. There's many docs who pick and choose who to heal, based on faction, or only choose to heal/buff in their own private med center. There's quite a few who wear their title proudly, and try to stick with the RL Hippocratic Oath, as best as SWG can allow.

I stand by my view......us docs who don't run macros for cash, don't sit in starports for days at a time, and actually TRY to play doc, are roleplayers, and I firmly believe we're being penalized because of a few who chose to abuse the profession. Same thing happens in RL, I guess.........the richer the doctor, the less likely he is to be a GOOD doctor.

* Short term buffs will modify this health value no more than 20%.
* Long term buffs will modify this health value no more than 10%.
* Species modifiers will affect no more than 10% of a base statistic.

Does this sound worthless to anyone else? What is the point of buffing if you only get at 10 - 20 % increase (3000HP would mean +600 with a 20% buff)? This upgrade could very well kill the Doctor and Musician/Dancer professions. I certainly wouldn't pay anything for a 600 pt increase in my Hit Points. This raises the question though: If Doctor buffs are going to be obsolete, what is that going to do to the player driven economy? Seriously, one of the major ways Scouts and Rangers make money is to sell resources to Doctors and Chefs. If the changes to food are as damaging to the Chef profession then that section of the player driven economy could well collapse. Try and find a Doctor or high-level Entertainer or whatever once they discover that their profession is redundant.

I am not looking forward to this "Combat Upgrade" for these reasons and some that were listed above. One of the things I like about Star Wars Galazies is that it is not (totally) combat centered. I thing the "Upgrade" is moving the game in the wrong direction. I have 3 accounts right now... I wonder how many I will choose to keep after the upgrade...

The game has been extremely out of tune for longer than that. Insane doc buffs and 90% armor (added to 400+ brandy) have turned the combat part of the game into God mode. While that may be fun for some for a while, it sure gets boring fast. And it's also extremely frustrating when you have to take at least half and hour to get ready to have fun (buffing and all that).

My point was that the focus of the CU was to make the game as fun as possible. So while SWG is fun now, the improvements will make parts that are lagging up to snuff, thus making the whole game more fun. We'll just have to wait to test it out on Test Center.

Well, I do have to comment: they haven't said anywhere that docs are a non-combat profession. In fact, it's hinted in a few places we'll be useful in combat again. So... if Doctors are considered a 'combat profession', we very well may get the health bonuses of other combat masters.

* Edited because I used too many ellipses.
