Thread: Will Docs be buffing right up until the end ?

I, for one, stopped manufacturing buffpacks. I have more than enough to suffice myself (and my guildmates)until the CU hits. I am still selling what I have left on my vendors which is around 10 mil or so of product. Right now i'm in the process of taking all my resources and throwing them into components and making tons of stims, rezzes, and cures. Granted they don't sell for as much but I can make tons and they'll still have a purpose after the CU, the numbers may be different, but a GOOD stim will still be a GOOD stim.

I might not be able to make them after the CU, but i'll be damned if they think they can take them out of my inventory

Well ive been a md since jan 04..both a crafter and a buffer and as of today have stopped makeing any more medicines....i have a huge stockpile of meds that should keep the venders open till mid april, after that ill close them down untill after the cu...i have no intention of giving up md but i dont see the point in investing more credits into resources with the cu on the horizon....guess im gonna have to grind out be crafting now....with the buff packs i have made i will however continue to buff untill theyre gone, but i wont be produceing anymore...

Well, there won't be any grinding necessary, as you get a free template change.

I'll be buffing right up until C-Day, but have never been a crafter. So far, finding buffpacks for sale hasn't been a problem, but I assume it'll start getting a little more difficult as we get closer. I'd imagine there are quite a few crafting docs that have quite a stockpile they want to unload.

Nobody knows the requirements on the new meds. This kinda stuff has a habit of leaking, or maybe they'll lift the NDA before it goes live. I don't think they'll just go... ok its tuesday... WHAM all new system, surprise! I'd expect the schematics to be out / explained before then. Not that the devs haver said so... but that's what I'd do... dro pthe NDA a week or 2 before live and let people get ready.

I'm sure they'll release info on the resource requirements for any new items for the CU--sooner rather than later. In any case, the CU will be on Test Center for a while before live, so everyone will have access to all the resource and component information. Unless of course the devs have decided to change their schedule without telling the public. It's not like that hasn't happened before. lol

There really is not point in changing you Habits right now. We don't know what is changing. Might as well have fun and make some money while we wait. The demand for our product won't drop as we get closer to May, so no need in adjusting your play style until then.

guess it will raise even more, think about combatants who grind now while they can use doctor buffs.

I think this will depend on several things. Mostly if we know what our Packs will turn into, and if we know what the resources are for enchancements.

Enchancements will be a value from 1-1000 much in some ways like buff packs (Yes I'm aware they go higher) so the likelyhood that Enchance Packs will go straight over to some form of enchanter or components for enchancers isn't too bad. In that case, I will craft out the rest of all my resources and sit back and wait for the conversion...

That outlook depends on alot of things like mentioned above conversion and enchancer resources... I can't see them not making them something useful as all docs would be having herds of banthas if something happened that was dumb to billions of credits collectively in product across the servers.

Knowing what we know now, there will be no return on the credits I put out for resources, there's no reason not to grind out everything I can andhope for the best.

I certainly will, if I can find any buffs to use. Made master doctor last night, decided to see how much I'd need to save up for my first buffset, and went searching. Found one vendor with packs of 5 and 10 buffsets, or individual buffpacks but missing some of the stats I'd need for a full set. That's all I found, besides someone with single-use leftovers, in about 5 hours of searching.

I don't understand why people are giving up crafting now, when you still have weeks to go before the change. While I didn't become a doctor just to make money buffing, I would like to get as much as I can before the change, but people giving up crafting is costing both me and them the money to be made in the following weeks. I'm hoping with the new vendor search tomorrow, I can find some.

I have never been a buff bot before but I think I will go on a buffing binge and hope to make as much money as possible if things go sour like many anticipate. :/

We were discussing this last night on my TS Server, and it was very interesting to say the least. There are 3 Doctors in my guild, myself and 2 others.

One person say's that the CU Info todate is enough to make him drop Doctor. The other says that she would like more information before choosing what to do. Myself, frankly I don't care. Weither all of our current skills remain the same by using a hard product to do our job or if our skills are turned into "Magic", I don't care. I will be sticking through with the Doctor Profession regardless because it provides the type of gameplay style I enjoy....Support.

One of the largest complaints last night on TS was (Yup, you guessed it) "Crafting". Strangely it was pointed out, that considering we wont have any product to actually make, we no longerhave that "edge" of charging for a service (Similar to Entertainers and ID's). I don't know how the crafting is going to work, so please don't read it as such. All I'm saying is that with the *current information* that we have....other than time spent, we have no solidreason to actually charge for a service. Thats not to say we wont charge, but now we don't have the "Our skills take resources" arguement.

There are to many unanswered questions running around, but the one I find the most interesting is this. "What if Doctor no longer needs product/resources to do our job?"or "What if all Doctor skills function like /quickheal, where it uses ham instead of a product".

I personally can'tanswer any of those questions, but I for one would love to have those answered. in a Strange way I'm realitivly happy with the CU. I fully understand it is a WIP (Work In Progress), and things are going to change. Stuff will change that I don't like, but oh well I will survive. Honestly this profession means a lot to me, and I would hate to see a lot of you guys leave based on rumors and assumptions.

I'm definitely sticking around, although I stopped at 4-4-4-0 when I read the CU docs. I'm going to wait and see how the profession plays out. Like you said, there's really no reason to run for the hills, given we don't have much information yet. Even when more info is released, I would still suggest it's better to wait and see how it all works out.

There is gonna be soem kinda character respec... I suspect based on SP (it is the only thing i can think of off the top of my head) or soemthing. Even if you don't do doc crafting, i'd use up the SP, so you can shift boxes when they do the rerspec, instead of grinding whatever they turn out to be.

I would still charge a small fee to stop whatever I was doing to perform some function on a patient. That is under the scenario of receiving a tell from someone who sees me running through a starport and asks for some service. I have always stopped to help unless I have something pressing goign on, and I have almost always charged less than market rates for my services because I make my own meds and I don't really care about the money I personally make from admistering buff/wound/cure packs.

I do think the starport buffers would be gone in that scenario since the rate you could likely charge wouldn't be worth it IMHO. I believe that service would be worth nothing more than 1-2k per patient...
