I am currently master rifles / master doc, a template I settled down on after trying lots of other professions. I like it because with rifles I have a good combat capability, and the doc part also gives me a shot at the crafting side (and is useful in combat, also).
I only have 1 account, and I want to be able to fight and craft (on the _same_ server, because income comes more from looting some times and more from crafting other times). If I cant be fighter / crafter with a single toon anymore, I will feel seriously nerfed.
The biggest fear I have currently reading through the CU stuff is that the millions of credits tied up in my resources currently will go poof from one day to another. I pray for the devs (_AND TESTERS!!!!_) to make sure that the resources valuable to docs now will be as much valuable to other crafting professions in the future, should they really take crafting from doc. I worked my butt off to get to where I am now, and if my resources decrease in value, most of the work I put into my doc crafting career (which is a lot) will be wasted.
I myself wont turn any resource deeds into avian before the CU for sure.

For us crafters, I get the impression of being shafted.
With the addition of BE requirements. Not popular.
Also dislike, the small effect buffs will have.
I've always enjoyed the role of buffs. Both for my income and importance in the field.

No, look peoples, the resources and everything else we have will be worth nothing. All that time and money wasted. The new enhancements will be found looted from a 'Pygmy Gorax' who swims through the sands of Endor's desert. Only one of these will spawn per server, only after server reset, and only once every 3 months. Have fun searching for that one enhancement to enhance a whopping extra 20%....
I have already begun rocking back and forth babbling incoherently. This doesnt look good. It's still early days, so who knows, but from what has been posted I am concerned about all the resources and the like I have that will be worthless.
Think I might try Combat Medic if things suck too much....will go well with Master Riflewook...even if I cant heal much, at least I can throw stuff....

Just to reitterate what others have said about resources, i am concerned 100 million + credit worth of resouces that us docs have worked hard to get and I for one will be very annoyed if they become worthless.

Don't people who become docs have to have medic prior? I read that as saying medics will be able to craft prior to becoming doc. So, my only concern is ... What are they able to craft? After all this time of trying to gather "uber" resources, I have to sit on it or allow a BE to make my buffs for me?

Not much to say here..sigh. Docs are gonna have to relearn our profession after the Cu to see how it will work out.
That's probably the most rational statement I've read regarding the first CU announcement.
There will be more to come before it releases, but you're right. There will definitely be a learning curve, and one that I'm going to take on full steam before I make any decisions about my template.
I like being a doc. Not for the credits, as I'm not a buffmonkey, but because I like helping people. I think that will still apply.

The same is true of pretty much every prof in the CU btw. All the uber templating and special spamming is going away too. The combat players are gonan be in the same boat for relearning how to do everything in their profs.
It is basically a whole different game.

I've seen it called SWG 2.0 by a few people in threads.. probably pretty close to the truth. I'm looking forward to the new changes, and probably visiting the cloning center quite a few times before I have it figured out, hehe.

Yay for no more bags and droids needed for med supplies! Yay for no more Doc crafting! I am really excited that we're going to be real Healers now and not held back by resource collecting and other crafter style gameplay. I'm an awesome uptime healer and buffer, but a lousy crafter and I am so happy that we'll now be able to be the one with out the other.

Uhm - you could do the healing and buffing under the pre-CU system, also. You just needed to craft some ABECs to get to master, after that nobody required you to touch a crafting tool ever again. Why do you even have resources if you dont like crafting? You could just buy from crafting docs.

Just depends on how you see it. I would have to get 0004 (or whatever it will be) in BE to really consider myself a Master Doc.
Does a rifleman have to be a weaponsmith to consider herself a Master Rifleman?

I do get my meds from crafting docs. Usually, other people make them for me and give them to me or other people buy them for me and give them to me. I'm a Dancer too, so I'm pretty used to being "taken care of."
I was also a BE for a while and ended up dropping it because of the heavy crafter focus. Now people who were crafting Docs can just pick up BE instead and the Doctor tree can be based 100% on healer abilities, not crafter abilities. I say again, woohoo! It makes me crazy that I have to have a full line of SP wasted on something I'm never going to do just to be the best Doc I can be. I can't wait till that's a thing of the past.

So if i understand this correctly....
You have to pick one path.
The Practioner = Master Doctor
or
The Pharmacist = Master Bio-Engineer
....Is this the correct assumption?
