I just have one question for Chefs...
Can you experiment down the time it takes before you are allowed to eat more food?
I realize that people complain about food buffs being less potent than doctor buffs, but seems to remember that they stack with doctor buffs, plus - unlike enhancements - you can eat numerous items before you get full. I'm not sure if you're supposed to be able to eat and drink seperately, but I think you should... My biggest concern with food has not been the boost value, but rather the fact that I can only eat so much food before I get stuffed, then I have to wait to eat again. Does the food take the same time to digest as the duration of the buff? or are those two timers linked at all?
Can you experiment down the time it takes before you are allowed to eat more food?
This seems to be wrapped up somehowin the stat you use to experiment the duration of a buff - flavor and texture, but it's not called out separately or listed when examining the food in any way, so we're not at all sure how it works.
Also, the "flavor and texture" line of experimentation seems about capped at 50% in almost all cases, as it seems to mainly depend on stats that do not exist in most organics (such as unit toughness). This is, by the way, completely in contradiction to the schematics breakdown displayed when making the food.
Does the food take the same time to digest as the duration of the buff? or are those two timers linked at all?No, you're generally filled up for longer than the buff. We're not sure exactly how long filling lasts on a per-food basis as the stat is not displayed anywhere and the filling bar in the UI is basically bugged.
In addition, it should be noted that the higher level chef foods fill you up more. There are some artisan foods you can eat 7 of at a time, where all the master food/drink fill you up after one serving. It's quite possible by stacking artisan foods to surpass the buffs of some high-levelitems that sound otherwise very impressive.
But food you can sell to people and they can use it on their own time. Many people dont understand the enhancements, and always want to see it in a trade window before they buy it with me. i have to explain the whole process. Chefs make soemthing that ANY numskull can eat and use. but we have to actively be present and apply the enhancements, and there is a delay between each application. I think there is a noticable difference here, enough to make any direct comparisons moot.
As for money... I logged on today and found myself about 100K richer. I make crates of sub components for other doctors to use in their crafting. not everyone has the time or resources to run a factory. So soemone bought a few crates of compoennts and stims... and BAM... I am a happy doc! Now this took me about 2 weeks to get up and running, and this is the first major purchase i have seen. but now that things are in place, i have cash on hand to afford large quantities of better resources, so the income potential shoudl stay relatively high.
This is on top of making 60K just doing enhance Ds hopping form planet to planet for an hour. hehe... yeah, us doctors can do well if you are smart about it.

Actually, from my experiences, my best money maker wasnt benefited from doctor skills at all. I made over 100k in 15mins from missions. I dont have BH or CH or anything like that. Just a few pistoleer skills. Not to belittle your 160k or anything like that. That is awsome and keep it up! Just saying to anyone struggling out there. Missions are still a viable option.
There is no way at all to make 100k in 15minutes from missions unless you found a spot that has 50k credit missions less than 500m away and then the mobs die in 1 hit. I am not saying you are exploiting or anything like that, but the ONLY way I can think of to make that much money was back a few days ago on Dantooine using the mission terminal exploit where the mission would not spawn as tehre was too much stuff around to spawn, and it would just give you the mission complete and the reward.
I was about 50k richer last night after about an hour and a half of running around with 4 people and healing them while they killed things on Endor.
As for surveying make friends with an artisan its that simple. The game is made for group interaction so interact.
"Oh yeah plus he has the ability to gethis resources without taking another novice profession and spending 15 more skill points"
Meat and Hide as well as bone.. And last I looked you dont need artisan to use a Harvester .. Why do you need to spend 15 points again ?? So you can survey?
So sounds like you need artisan to survey not to get resources .. Its easier just to look for a field of one type of harvester and drop yours there then to survey for hours .. Then you can even search the Bazaar find someone who is selling the resource you need and send them a email where they are getting that resource?
Chef has hidden skill requirements
YOu need Engineering its not required but to make all the components you need as a chef your going to need engineering unless you know a master artisan that will remake all your schematics everytime the resources switch.
Your going to need Business otherwise you cant have a vender. Unlike doctor a chef would have to carry a full backpack and a full droid storage compartment full of junk if they wanted to sell things in town . every sell will be one or more invantory space not just using a enhancec pack .
Chef will need Scout , with out scout you would be forced to buy your meat and other organics like hides these are usualy overpriced on the bazaar because they are being priced for Tailors and Doctors , so a chef who is making pennies in comparison would either but the Resources for twice as much as the food will ever hope to sell for or harvest it themself.
food might be portable but it only last for a couple minutes where a doctor buff can last for multible hours . also if you die when you use a chef buff before it wears off you become full and the effects go away for about 20 minutes.
You use one master chef buff that lasts anywhere from 5-12 minutes you become full and wont be able to eat again for about 25 minutes.
Most chef buffs also debuff you stat where a doctor buff never does , you can use 2 master chef buffs at one time . You can use 6 Doctor buffs at once time. Doctor has it alot beter then chef and easier .. Chef is on the same exp table as a Architech and is making foods that grant hardly any exp.
