Thread: AFK Tumblers
You forgot to read the rest of the thread. You know, include the part that's actually from a developer and not a community relations person.
The designers are working on ways to make AFK entertaining less desirable. I'm not sure where they are in the process.
In the meantime, I agree with most of the posters here. Don't tip AFK entertainers. If you have a choice, watch/listen to a non-AFK entertainer instead of an AFK one. Whenever possible try to role play with Entertainers. It keeps you both engaged and is a good way to learn about local news/legends.
The true purpose of a cantina is a meeting place where you will more than likely run into other players and learn from them or start groups with them.

Apparently, the dev's don't like it either.
Thank you and good day,
Nobody said anything about grinding resources. AFKing makes professions very easy to get and doesn't weed anyone out. More people then drive the prices of the resources up, are use them and waste them on Tumble Monkeys so they get max XP. Nothing about it helps the game in any way, shape, or form.
AFKing completly ruined the Entertainment profession. Ask one of them about it.
I wish people AFKing would just lobby SOE to let them play Jedi from the start, instead of defending this ridiculous style of play. You don't want to play the profession, I don't want you to play it, we both would be happy.
As far as people who "have limted time and want to get the most out of their playing time" well I have limited time and have been perfectly happy working my way up at my pace learning about the game and world I play in. If you think a Doctor is boring at Novice, it will be boring to you at Masterbecause you are doing nothing any different. 3 months in and I've mastered nothing, and had fun every minute of it until our "December Gifts" and I had to start running around in a world of zombies.
The only reason that people want to level fast is for Jedi, or to have "Uber Bad Mamma Jamma" Character in a day so they can go hunt Krayts, Holos, or whatever people are doing this month. I feel the amount of time actually spent "playing" the game should be what levels you up. Period. The fact is, casual gamers will eventually catch up to everyone, which is what's brilliant about the system. If someone puts more work in (time spent playing) then they should be rewarded for it. If someone plays 24-7 and survives on Jolt Cola and pixie sticks, then they deserve to be a Uber Character and I do not. It would be selfish of me to think I'm entitled to do the things they do playing 30 minutes a day. I think respect, honor and work ethic should mean something, no matter what you are doing, entertainment or not. AFKing is a poor work ethic in general, and if people can't grasp that concept, then I think there are a lot bigger problems than this game.
How bout that for an answer.
Less desirable does not equal against the rules. Sorry, but them not liking it and it being against the rules are two entirely different things.

I will let the TOS speak for itself.

So choke on that.
I'll choke on it as you as you find an SOE rep that says the in-game macros are against the TOS. I've already found one that says itis NOT. Suck on that.
LMAO @ you. Community Relations Manager isn't a community relations person? What a freakin retard.

Why does the choice of another player to stand somewhere you most likely will never be or meet again doing something you personally chose not to do, make you unhappy?
If your happy doing your thing - get on with it and let everyone else do theirs.
Starting threads knowing that they will cause arguments or flames is called trolling, please do not do it. Some people will agree and some disagree, and thats fine but to keep bring this up over and over just to "gloat" in someone's face that its not technically "wrong" does not help the issue either way.
