Thread: Whose going to want to sit at a med center healing people when everyone has got there med exp?
i only stop by when i need to tend my own wounds or my group members, or the rare occasion I feel like taking abuse in there. Since I worked my way up doctor, if I go to a med center I only stay a few minutes. I also require payment in advance for healing wounds. I generally charge 1cred per wound.
If they dont like it they can wait the hour it takes for a medic to heal them. I believe its worth my time and theirs if they want a 3 minute heal instead of an hour.
For those that cry bloody murder....../addignore is a blessing. The last guy that screamed at me for 5 minutes before I asked for payment in advance bragged about making 18k his last run and took him less than 2 hours. Then he cried about me wanting 1500 creds saying i'm a horrible doctor. His loss not mine, 1500 creds is a drop in the bucket.

As soon as I hit Master(Tuesday or so) I won't spend a single second in the Medical Center. If I get a /tell asking me to heal, i'll reply with a "How much are you offering to pay?"
Am I callous? That's for you to decide, but the fact is, my medicines cost me alot of money. I'm always poor it seems and just today managed to scrape up enough extra to buy a cheap no-socket Doctor's Dress that i've wanted for the longest time. The fact is, people don't tip. When I was a Novice Medic, I didn't care, meds were cheap to make and I didn't heal very much at all.
Now I heal 250-300 wounds a shot. I can clear a Med Center in minutes and get people with black bars out amazingly fast. How many tip? About 25%. And of those 25%, 5% or less tip what I would deem fair considering the speed at which I healed them to perfect status. 1cr per wound is very fair to me. But when I heal someone for over 2000 wounds and they tip me 200, well then that doesn't really give much incentive for me to help you does it?
The fact is, medicines cost money and time to make. Right now the only reason I spend time in a Medical Center is because a 300 wound heal is worth 750xp to me. I have approximately 80k xp left until Wound Speed is done. After that, break out your wallets. Or accept that you're going to have those black bars for a long time.
I enter MedCenter only to heal myself/enhance or heal my guild mates. I stay in our guild GWC base to heal - yes, i consider-it as my duty .
I will not go in a med center to heal before they fix the /tip issue. Patriotic work don't pay the maintnance on hervesters/factoryes/house... I think overall my tip money as doc are around 30k, and i'm master doc / master CM.
Maybe wenn all docs/meds will do a 2-3 days strike - noone in hospitals to heal - ppl will change the attitude...

All in all, I've never liked the Med Center, it's boring and a chore when you start your medic field in the cantina healing dancers. The atmosphere is so much nicer, and there's alot of female Twi'lek dancers to watch...
The people who became medics bacause they like hanging out and healing people will continue to do just that, because they like it.
The question is, are you paying $15 a month for the ability to fill up little boxes, or are you filling up little boxes to take advantage of doing the kind of things you like to do anyway?
I don't understand why the doctors, even those leveling up, don't simply refuse to heal those people who are wounded unless they tip, and tip well. I am by no means rich, but I always tip 20 credits per wound healed, to both doctors and entertainers. I once tipped a doc 15k for healing after a long hunt.
If you never healed anyone who didn't pay upfront, then people would so realize that they would have to pay, or die over and over.
People are rude, cheap, and annoying. When I finally get to the point where I don't need any more medical xp, unless I know you, or you pay in advance, I'll sit there and watch you bleed to death before I heal you.
Is that mean? Rude? Callous? Yes. Just like all those lovely patients have been the past month. I'm tired of spending money on medical kits on people who don't see us as anything more as medi-bots.
I avoid med center altogether since I don't get anythign from being there and I don't need the xp. Heck I stopped going there even when I needed the xp, but since I a did was lose components for stims I gave up on med center a long time ago.
Besides, entertainers tip better. ![]()
I just started a Medic Character two nights ago. Currently I'm 4 boxes from Novice doctor. Last night alone I got 9 boxes of Medic filled. My point is this. I get all of my XP via my guild. I willnever... sit in the medic center. I've known that since my guild's first medichad to start out there. The tips were crap, and did not cover any of his actual costs. Nor were people particularly friendly. Barely a thank you a night. That's bs.
I think the way things are going is a good thing. Once the majority of Medics/Doctors/Cm's hit master, or get all of the xp they want, you'll start to see the actual costs a person needs to pay to be healed, rise. Also, if I were any of you that had to pay your own way through this profession, I'd charge in advance. Find an amount that both covers your expenses on a per point basis, and one that the masses will pay, and go forth with it. Make people pay in advance. You have the power to change the way things work. It would of course be helpful if everyone followed those rules. ![]()
Good Luck and I hope you are having as much fun as I am ![]()

The people who tip well make up for the people who stiff me ... as long as I am getting xp. I may change my attitude when I don't need the xp, as the thread suggests.
I'm getting close to that point so a question for the master docs : those of you who ask for tips up front, how well does that work for you? Has anyone kept track of how often folks pay, choose not to, flame, etc.?
I always tip in the cantina. Even if I am in there just to stim the dancers for xp, I tip a little bit. And if somebody is doing an actual act, even terrible comedy, I tip a few hundred cr. I guess I was stiffed enough in the med center to be overly generous in the cantina.
