"Personally I think that the drop rates for everything should be dropped. Would possibly make crafting a little more challenging."
This wouldnt make it a challenge. This would mean you are either part of a few elite near monopoly providers, or you collect your own. The elite would offer enormous amounts for avian if it were much harder to get, and a few people would control the entire supply of buffpacks. Prices would quadruple overnight, as these 2 or 3 people figured they would price fix.

3hrs for 5k, that if used wisely will last a new doc for a couple months and/or make them a couple million credits, which fuels them to hire people to harvest for them at market value.
Or to put it another way, there isn't anything wrong with the system, other than the people that can't stand to be challenged a little bit.

Err most certainly disagree.
But if you care for an explanation check the other thread about this.

I'm well aware of the other thread. And I think your confusing something being intentionally difficult, with something being "broken." Quite simply, if the devs wanted us to be able to have more access to the organic component for buffs, instead of retooling the avian drops, they could simply change the resource required. The fact that they made it a rare resource type would seem to indicate the rarity of it is intentional. Considering that, your free to ask for more avian till you turn blue in the face, but its not going to happen because the devs don't want it to.
Then of course, you'll have to consider that the cry for better avian drops, if it went away, really wouldn't go away. It'd just transfer over to a cry for more good class 4. More good herb meat. More good dant berries. And so on and so on, etc... Resources are the part of the overall challenge in the crafting game. Its designed to be difficult. You're free to disagree, but it does not change the facts.
I agree or why have rare resources like dolvite iron and petro 4 in making buffs? they are intentionally hard to make, so don't fix whats not boken

As far as the top 5 thread issues is concerned, I don't believe they were talking about fixing the problem iwth good avian meat.
I am pretty sure they were more focused on either A) increasing the amount of animals that drop avian meat to begin with.... or B) increasing the amount of avian meat each animal drops when you harvest it.
As far as minerals stats are concerned no one says that you have to create buffpacks with 850-920 power, i mean its nice but you don't have to. The stats are random, (at least for the most part), and they're not going to force good product to make doctors happy, so I'm really sure that they are concerned with avian quality, just quantity.
3hrs for 5k of meat, maybe.... if it was on Lok, yeah, perleks are a dime a dozen, but on Naboo, kaadu only drop like 8 to 14 meat a piece, and you can't get peko pekos to spawn on missions, at least I can't.
and yes, with good enough products, you can turn 5k of meat into a couple mil.... if you have good gas, and good components, and lots of them, then you can. but if you're a new doc, 5k of good avian meat could mean nothing if you have nothing to go with it (i'm gonna be making another post for this shortly)
anyway my point is avian QUALITY is NOT borked, its quantity. its too scarce, in general, regardless of how good it is. if they fix anything they'll up the drop rate on animals that already give avian meat.

Speaking of someone who's playing a completely non-ground-combat Doctor/Musician, I have to agree with pircio. I'm not to the point of giving buffs yet, let alone making them. However, besides some very occasional generous tips, which happen rarely enough they can't really be counted on, I don't make enough money to buy more than grinding-quality materials, and only a handful at a time there. Right now, I have no idea how I'm going to start buffing. Once I start, I'm sure I'll make enough to keep going, but getting the start is really worrying me.
Edit to add: Sure, space gives some nice money at high level, but for that character space is just a side-profession, not a full-time thing. I shouldn't have to spend hours grinding in space to pay for a ground profession.
