Well, to let out a bit of a secret (well not much of one since it's been on our Top 5 forever and you all know that I'm pushing to the Devs because of that.) I am working on getting a dialog going with the Devs on this issue, and the I'm starting by quyestioning the premise, the need, for us to have some kind of ability like this in the first place. I figure once we can establish that we can work on a fitting compromise. I just don;t think they fully understand the problem to begin with and only see part of the solution we've offered, because it seems to be the most readily apparent one.


And that premis is really taht our crafting requirements are very complex and require some very difficult to obtain and expensive components that are otherwise out of the price range of a great many Doctors (or Medics or CMs, for that matter.) Giving us some form of survey to fulfill the basic ability that every other profession has to at least get started in our profession is only one possible solution. Reduction in complexity of schematics with a medical foraging skill that actually gets us the things we need for those schematics could be part of the answer. Changing our schemtics to use a lot more readily available resources, and reducing the amonts of resources and/or components (while maintaining our current capabilities, of course) could be part ofa solution as well. There are many possible anwers, but we have to get acknowledgement of the problem firs, I think.


This issue is easily voted into the Top 10 lists of over 2/3rds of all Doctors who've voted on the issues. For most it is in thier Top 3. It is obviously a huge problem for a LOT of Docs out there, unless maybe you have access to a good PA that provides you with resources or utilze some other skills to make enough money to buy your resources (and usually then it meand you are not on an overinflated server like Eclipse of Bloodfin where Avian Meat pretty much can't be had for less that 30cpu on a good day.)


At any rate, the issue is known to the Devs and we continue to hammer it to them. Every time you guys vote for this issue as one of your Top issues it keeps it fresh and in the faces of the Devs. Every time the respond that they feel the solution we've offered is taking away from the Artisans or that skill point expenditure is part of the strategy of the game, we can turn right back around and try to confront them again wtih the core problem so we can get a response to that.


And that's where things stand at the moment. Once I've gotten through the whole process I'll hopefully have a better response for you guys than the one we've been getting. We'll get another response at any rate, though.
