Thread: Doctors nerfed from their OWN buffs?

Figure 2 sets(12 total) of each level buff should suffice as a small, controlled test right?

This is much to small a sample to give any useful information.

I understand the variance in buffs, and I understand the usual 'stealth nerf' cries after a patch. I know that there will be various trends and understand the psychology of remembering the 'best' and 'worst'.

But this isn't one of those situations.

It's something that has been bugging me for some time but I simply wrote it off as being due to the variance. Never bothered bringing it up here because, as has been shown, most everyone else writes it off to variance as well.

But now that I know I'm not the only one to see it, I'll test it myself to see if it really is simply the variance and misperceptions.

Oh! One of each level. I thought you meant just one of each stat type. Nevermind.

I haven't seen it. The last couple of days I've been getting consistent results over 1800 on self-buffs, with the occasional 2800 or 900 buff. Exactly the same as before, and in line with what I'm currently getting buffing others.

Still worth investigating, though!

Hey if you want to buff your self a thousand times for kicks don't let me stop you. Perhaps some of the statistics fellows can pipe up on how many samples it will take to get a true measure on a random variance of 900-2800.

I am curious to see how far people will go when presented with this sort of superstition.

I've noticed this alot lately myself. I'm a 0-4-4-4 doctor, but I make all my own buffs and buff myself every time I go out. (stats are all mind). I dont sell buffs, but usually buff melee teammates. I've notice this alot because I'm always suprised when I buff other people.

From my own observations, the range seem to be the same for any buff, but my ownbuffs average consistantly lower than when I buff other people. I'm can only build C's for secondary stats, when I buff myself i usually get between 450-1000+, usually between 600-800. Sometimes I will get one for 900-1000+, but often will get one for 450. But when I buff other people, I will be getting 750-950 average, with 600 being a lower buff. (almost never buffing them for 450).

I can test something like this out tonight.

Usually for an hour or so a night, I sit in the coronet cantina and offer free action buffs to all entertainers. Unfortunately since I can only buff myself once, there will be a great variance from only 3 buffs. But I should get a good average from the entertainers.

One thing I will say about self buffs compared to group buffs...the results of a self buff stare you in the face for a good 2 and half hours. And usually you (at least I do) focus on the lower ones on yourself just waiting to rebuff for something better. But with buffing others, it's a lot easier to remember that "highest buff". Sort of a physcological thing.

I use the following:
*110 med use droid
*850-860 power action, 720-730 power quickness & stamina (good enough for giving away)
*125 wound treatment (+25 from BE enhanced clothing)

With the above, the range I have hit is 900-3412 typically within 2-2.3k (notice how I remember the highest )

Well, 12 is kinda small. But it's a start. That variability is pretty darned wide.

12 As, 12 Bs, 12 Cs, 12 Ds. 2 of each Enhance pack, usually at 20 charges each. 48 total buffpacks of 4 different levels with 240 charges per level for a total of 960 charges.

That's too small a sample?

This happens to me once in a while, but the way I prevented it was to heal some wounds then procede with the buffs...

Seems the same for me whether I buff others or myself. I kinda feel bad when I hit myself for a 2800 buff and hit a tank for a 985 one
