Same problem here. I can use the crafting station but no matter how many batteries I feed my droids the medical component of the droid just will not work. Everytime I pull my LE Repair it says "The customization of your droid has faded completely away." I fed him 8 batteries and it still says it. My 3PO droid doesn't say it when I pull him but the medical aspect still won't work.

I have seen similar problems with my droids. As we're seeing quite a few issues here, the specifics are:
1) Advanced MSE droid (F/C crafting/55 Med module) won't let me heal unless I charge him before every wound heal in the field. Bonus for artisans making battery crates! The crafting module never fails to work, and the little fella rarely shows the low battery message. When he does (ie after a 'follow') command, it's as it always used to be.
2) R5 Med Droid (65 Med module) seems happy to heal all the time with only 'traditional' battery failure.
3) 2-1B Surgical droid. Patchy healing when in the field, similar to MSE or worse.
I also tried stuffing my full of 4x3 charge batteries the other day. Within 10 minutes, I had to use another battery to get it to heal.
So, it seems like a bug linked to battery power, but the fact you can't tell how charged your droid is (let me know if I'm wrong!), and the apparent requirement for a battery even when the droid is charged (I can't heal, but the droid happily follows) leaves me without any clear ideas. For those who are saying that their droid never charges, it looks like you got hit with the hard end of the bug stick.
Me? I just love standing next to a 2-1B, having just fed it a crate of batteries, and still being told that I need to be near a surgical droid.

Forgot to mention how much I love running outside the med center to get my crafting droid out! Big thanks to SOE for caring about my character's cardiac health.

Mine was working fine for awhile last night and crapped out when I moved to heal another person. Got the "customization has faded completely" message. An R3 with a 110 Med module.

Yeah the droid system is all borked up atm. When you start healing for low amounts pop in a battery and it should work again the right way. They definately need to fix the battery thing, Droids run out of battery power faster than cheap no name batteries in a childs playtoy.
When you get your Droids customization has completely faded away, I believe thats a bug related to droid engineers being able to color the droid. That doesnt work right either.
