Thread: Combat medics got heal mind! what did we get?

The mind heal is in ranged healing speed IV.


And it is one hell of a useful tool for groups if a) you have an entertainer with you (the little camp dancing downtime is much shorter than the downtime you usually have if someone gets mind incapped in one fight and then needs to regen his mind back up in his full suit of composite) and b) you have high secondary mind stats (not good to try this in a composite helmet). I take about 40 to 50 mind wounds in all mind stats and 12 or so battlefatigue per use.


If either a or b are not fulfilled, you will hurt yourself and your group more using it than letting people mind incap left and right.


Also it really is not something you will want to use to heal like you do stims. It is simply a tool to prevent mind incaps when things go bad.

OK, here's how I see it. I'm a Master Doctor and Combat Medic (4-1-3-4, I can't seem to give up novice artisan just yet). True, Combat Medics get to heal mind, but at great cost to their own mind. Plus the CM's took a major hit in this patch with the poisons and diseases stopping at +1 now (they will not incap or kill). This effectively makes Combat Medic the only combat profession that can't kill using their professions skills. This would be like the devs saying that Doctors can heal all wounds but the last point. What should have been done with the poisons and disease is for them to go away upon incap or death instead of stopping at +1 point.

Huh, thats kinda weird. I used it all weekend. Several time during a big hunt in a group of 20. and Many times just running around checking harvesters.


During big hunt that lasted several hours(Kimo & stuff), I used it over dozen times. I had about 2200 mind (dancer buff) and everytime I used it, it cost me about 40 which was drop in a bucket which hardly showed up on mind bar which is bad considering it did about 400 - 800 heal. about 3/4 times it was complete mind heal to the group member I was using it on.


And since we camped every 30 min or so and we had dancer with us (which big hunting group do not take a dancer with them?) the mind wound I take was not even a point.


If CM are willing to give this up and let Doc have it, I think most of doc would not object. Start a thread in CM forum petitioning all the CM to give this one to Doc I will thank you for it if Dev actually do it. (Yhea sure I'm Master Doc/MCM so it wouldn't affect me either way but I see myself as doctor first and CM distant second)

thanks for all the feed back...i hadnt really thought about all my range marksman stuff that i just have for no reason. so like some one said i just dropped those and picked up more scout )

Please devs. Give Heal Mind to Doctors.


As a Master Combat Medic, i will never use that worthless command.

Combat Medics are just that..."Combat Medics." They are meant for field work. Doctors are not. Hence the reason that Combat Medics get terrain negotiation and mind healing. They need these things in the field. Doctors can join a group in the field, but they are not well equipped to survive there w/out being looked after by the group. Combat medics are meant to hold their own.


I truly believe that if u are a Doctor, you should expect to spend more time in cities and out at extractors than fighting...it's just our place. Combat Medics, on the other hand, should be spending most of their time in the field seeing that that is where they truly belong.

Well you can believe what you want. It is no more right or wrong than what anyone else believe in.


As for me I don't think that is true.


Doctor have Rez. That sure is for group out in the combat.


Doctor have cure diziness, stun, blindness, cure poison, cure disease. All those thing are needed in the field in combat.


But aside from that, if what you say is true that CM are supposed to survive out there in the field. Why do they get mind heal? it doesn't heal their own mind so it doesn't help their survivability.


And if Doctors are supposed to need group to protect them, then wouldn't mind heal fit doctor better since by default it need a group member to heal?


And it is point blank range like all other doctor skills where as signature mark of CM stims are their range. This skill looks, smells and taste like Doc skills.


I've yet to hear a convincing argument why CM and not Doc beside the fact that some Dev decided that he wanted CM have more healing ability.
