You know . . .

If they implemented buffs overwriting old ones, this whole problem would be solved and the world would be a better place. Ah well, a doc can dream.

Get paid up front from people you don't know. Your good repeat customers go ahead and start before they pay, they have earned your trust. Anyone that rips you off: /addignore idiot, /report idiot (try to goad them into saying something incriminating first), and post on forums as someone else suggested.

I haven't had to ignore too many people, but in the end a few even came crawling back begging for buffs. There's alsoa doc on my server named Neurosis who had a guy offer to pay 50k to get off his ignore list lol.

I find this whole thread silly. I always leave the fee up to the patient, and ask them to wait until I am done so they can decide how much my service was worth. I don't feel so bad about dropping a 680 onto someone that way (happened once, with a buff-D!).

I've been stiffed a handful of times. I was tipped 47cr last night by someone who didn't know any better.

But I also made 500k last night doing buffs for a few hours, going through 3 sets of buffpacks. One guy tipped me 50k to move him to the front of the line.

Are you *really* going to stress about a handful of idiots, and then act like a money-grubbing smeghead to the rest of the population you serve?

Doesn't make sense to me.

When it isn't just a 'handful of idiots' that treat us this way, when it's actually an entire crowd of idiots, you sorta have to end up being guarded about whom to heal/buff and who to ignore.

All it takes is 1 idiot to totally ruin a good gaming experience. I look at the bonus of what someone is getting from a buff. I can't see why even a 2x increase in the stats is not worth 5k. 5k which could be made in less than 1 mission.

Anyone is welcome to charge or do whatever they want ingame. A doctor in real life doesn't ask me how much his thought on my illness is worth to me. They have a set fee. Asking the patient what it is worth to them is just opening up the possibility of them taking advantage of you. If someone is willing to takethat chance more power to them. It would be different if 5-10k is completely ripping people off. But a combat profession can easily make 100k by the time the buff wears off. The regen buffs alone probably cut 20%+ time off for them because they didn't have to heal as much and waste stims that they don't have to buy more of.

Havingone guystiff you for buffs ruins your night? Seriously?

OK, sorry, I didn't realize people took this game so seriously.

You don't have to explain to me why most people tip 6k or more for buffs, I understand their value. But I also understand that any time you get thousands of people together, you are bound to get some idiots in the mix. And allowing them to "ruin" your "gaming experience" by simply not tipping you is bound to leave you unhappy ALL THE TIME. People do far worse in the world, and in this game, and I can't imagine letting such a petty issue get your goat.

But hey, whatever makes you "happy".

Not trying to flame, just trying to add a dose of perspective. You know this isn't real life money, right?

i dont see why we should refund any1 if 1 of the buffs turns out crap, i use packs around 900 and occasionally even some janta blood enhanced packs which can be 950-1000 (1009 being the best i made) and its still all about the random element, although i have never hit under 1k with my packs, the fact is the pack costs money... if the server gives u a crap random number gen not ur fault.

As far as getting ripped off goes... i havnt found that happening, most ppl ask the price and I have a whole bunch of regulars who already know it. I remember 1 time some1 tipped me 3k (1/2 what i charge) without asking the price and i politely said its 6k actually and got tipped the rest.. any1 thinks there getting taken advantage of just stand up for urself and dont take no **edit** and let them get away with it, after all this is how we make our money being crap at combat

Also no1 hits 3k every time thats bull**edit**e, if i ever hear any1 claiming that i think they'll go str8 to /addignor

I've had my share of bad days... being stiffed once on a buff isn't bad, but I've seen rude comments for not buffing/healing out of inconvenience[sp?] to me, being stiffed multiple times and no more than a grunt from those that I help, all in a single night. Sometimes [more than it should be], it's more than just being stiffed once, it's being treated like crap by a general populous who believes you are there to bend over and do their bidding. As I've posted elsewhere, it's getting better, but it's still a problem. As such, many docs [to include myself] have adopted a rather "harsh" way of doing buisness, to prevent being jerked around like we have been in the past and will be in the future no doubt.

Well there seem to be a fain number of you guys that have gotten stiffed at lest once. I must say that I have never been stiffed and as for people being rude I dont see that either. Yes, it does get annoying when everone and their mothers are sending you tells but you can either get rid of the tag or tell them that you ar not buffing.

It seems to me that if people want a buff then they can pay for it. I've never met anyone that could not afford 6k for a buff unless they litterally just started a few days ago.

I sould warn you guys though that giving money back is not such a good idea. Even if you charge 12k which is high for buffs it will e paid and can easily be afforded. If you start to give money back then people will start to expect this and actually hope for buffs under 1k, since even a 500 buff is plenty to keep you alive while attacking things.

I'd just like to add that its not only buffing. When you walk into a medcenter and i heal your wounds, i had to use resources to make the packs to heal you, sometimes VERY expensive resources.

And about half the time I get a thank you, another 48% of the time i get nothing, not even thank you, and that last 2% is people that tip.

Before i was a doctor, when i went into the medcenter and someone healed me i would tip them 1k to start. Once they were done they would get another 1-2k depending upon how much money i had at the moment.

Biggest tip i ever got? 300cr. If i really wanted the xp, i would get a friend to tumble, or go to the cantina. Im in the medcenter to help you out. Make it worth my while or i dont come back.

Oh, waaaaaaaaa. Just waaaaaaaaa! For everyone 1 of you giving out buffs for 6k and getting ripped off, there are 3 Docs selling crap buffs for 10k, and not giving refunds for sub 1k buffs. Yes, we realize that the packs are hard to make (moonlighted as a doc for a bit before I went holonutty), but if you're gonna wear a Master Doc title and charge 10k for buffs, maybe SOME of you shady scrubs should try using Enhance D packs instead of trying to pawn off C's on us and saying, "It happens sometimes, sorry." That's even IF you try to apologize. I've gotten better care from my HMO.
