Although i don't agree with the wording in that last post, i do agree with the point being made.A combat medic should be able to use 'ok' level stims, B medpacks and maybe state stims. That's about all the field work a medic should be able to do.

Plus, the combat medic trees shouldn't include any healing skills. It should all be attack medication. Combat medics should have the same healing powers that a master medic, no more.

A Medic should be able to use basic medication

A Doctir should be able to use advanced medication

A Combat medic should be able to use advanced poisons.

... and that's exactly how it is.

haha, i'm not sure if you were referring to "a gold star" meaning 1 gold star or -1 star. but i wasn't 1-starred so that's probably not the case

Actually I was trying to be a little sarcastic. I think ya need to back off a little. The swearwords and the speculation on people's education just isn't my style, I guess.

ok, some docs are battle ready, i do all the time...

docs are not just about buffs, i heal wounds, poison, disease, ressurect when needed and i would rather be out fighting than sitting in a med center, i would probly give up the profession but its very nice to have, it makes me pretty much self-contained solo warrior/healer

"In combat" is the only time anyone needs to heal. Nobody would leave town without a combat medic in tow. It would become little processions of people crossing the desert, everyone AFK doing /follow on the CM, Combat Medics like illegal immigrant drivers charging 10K/km escorted. Combat Medics sitting in front of Fort Tusken, selling their services to the highest bidder. Or, the more likely scenario, instead of having 250 skill points to spend on the profession(s) of your choice, everyone would only have 81 points, the rest being taken up by the mandatory CM skills.

However, you don't need my comments by now to realize the repercussions of such a change. I'm a combat doc, according to you I don't exist.

The SWG Forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of
catassery and buttmonkeyism. We must be cautious.

pahdbacca original statement:
The devs had to make stim Bs usable at novice for a quick fix. They later got rid of the 'lose the lower stim schematic' rule, but never switched stim Bs back to requiring Pharm I.

me making fun of the devs:
they (the dev's) left and forgot a lot of things that they were 'supposed to' or 'going to' do. so making reference to them isn't really the best thing to do.

original post:
ive been thinking latly about what the definition of a docter and a combat medic is, and i propose this idea.

What if combat medics were the only class to be able to healin combat, after all they are called combat medics, so they should be able to heal. HOwever, docters, you never hear of a docter on the battlefiels (in RL) they are usially the people back at the medical centers healing the wounded. Docters would not be allowed to heal in combat, meaning they would be able to buff still ( i like buffs) but their heals were tuned up to make it so people would want to get healted by a docter, so they woudl want to come out of a fight for a minute to get healed by a docter, while Combat Medics would heal long distance regular stims to heal light to moderate heals...

Also, what if mind poisons were tuned down to be proportinal with the mind HAM bar. Health and action acn be buffed very greatly and can be immine to poison sometimes, so maybe mind was turned down so that CMs would rethink hitting the mind, and be encouraged to hit other HAm parts..

just my 2 cents, i would like to hear constructive critisism....

me flaming the poster:
first off, don't come pokin around the doctor forum with nonsense unthought of bullsh!t if you don't have at least a 6th grade education. its DOCTOR... IT SAYS IT AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE.

me making a valid argument vs the actual idea of the post:
you also effectively remove a tree from the doctor column, and add a 5th to the CM one. Docs can hardly craft at this point, all they have left is MAKING/SELLING/USING buffpacks.

brainplay:
Actually if you had bothered to read up on what Pad was posting about you'd realize that he wasn't advocating anything you were flaming. In fact you flamed a completely different subject (we were talking stimB's). I suggest you try reading the posts you are going to flame and get the names right in the future.

my response:
i was talking about stimB's too, i wasn't saying that pahdbacca was wrong I was poking at the dev's mentality. i have read the post, the problem that i have is the lack of thought that went into the original idea combined with the grammatical carelessness that followed through it. i'm not saying there isn't room for improvement between the 2 professions, but this is not the way to go about discussing it.

Second of all people were becoming Combat Medics solely because of the poisons and diseases since healing has become a joke. Area stimpacks were an expensive way for a combat medic to make it convinient for the rest of the group not using their SMALL STIMPACK B's.

Unless theirs Jedi with double bladed lightsabers I'll be blackbarring myself till I incap using /healmind more often than I'll toss a stim. Stabilize patients my right buttock! Even with more skill points being used we still can't rival doctor abilities. The original poster was trying to come up with a way to balance out the two professions although not even combat medics will agree with him to that extreme in most cases.
