Thread: ALTERNATIVE FOR DOCTORS/MEDICS NEEDED!!!

I posted this on the main discussion but I wanted to see how the doctors felt about it.

I'm sick and tired of walking into an empty medical center so I'm looking for an alternative. Doctors are sick and tired of not being tipped.

Here is my solution:

Give doctors NPC employees that they can setup in thier place of business to dole out healing when they are not around.

This way a doctor can load medicine into an NPC employee/vendor, setup a fee schedule (IRL it's called FFS or Fee For Service) and you are officially in business. Artisan classes (weaponsmiths, tailors, etc.) do the very same thing. Why can't doctors?

This way we would have doctors setting up medical outposts all over the place in order to earn extra cash and everyone else would have the alternative they are looking for.

Also, it would keep the whole player driven economy thing in tact...

sounds like a good idea to me. How would you determine who could and could not place their NPC employee?

I think it would be a viable option for player run hospitals in player run cities, but I think that is the only place it would work.

yeah, I agree. That is a wonderful idea for player hospitals, but since there won't be that many player hospitals floating around, maybe they could add it into the crafting line, since it is so similar to artisan experiance. Maybe at doc craftiong 2 or 3, they earn the ability to place a "PA" (Physicians Assistant) in either their home, like Merchants do, or in a player hospital, So us masters can have our own place. Maybe set it up like this. The customer uses the interface to select ehat kind of healing they need, damage, wounds, pioson, disease, at even buffs, since only Doc crafting 2/3 would unlock it. They would load the vendor with the appropriate meds, then set a fee that the customer pays, to recieve the service. They select, for example, Health wound healing<--100 credits. the player pays 100 credits, like they are making a normal purchase, only the "PA" uses one use of the Health Wound medpack assigned to that partucular function. This could actually be a really awesome way to make money, only we would be restocking the buffs like every 6 hours or so. This way, we don't have to always run to the SP ro make money, we can just use advertisement like other vendors, and of cource, word of mouth. heh, just my own personal rant on the idea.

I would have said the easiest way for medics and docs to get cash would be to set up mission terminals to give missions to heal so many wounds in a specific Med Center. That way we are less dependant on other classes.

Just like an artisan. In your residence or place of business.

The tipping is bad in this game because face it most people are too cheap. But it's the fault of doctors. Next time you sit in a medical centre, group with all the medics and simply agree that you don't heal anyone who does not tip one of you. And just say it openly to people that if they don't tip then they can forget about healing.

For entertainers it's worse. If they entertain someone who tipped them there will be a bunch of freeloaders exploiting that.

It's just sad that people are so cheap.

BUT organize, medics and entertainers... don't take that BS from people anymore... organize and force them to pay.

How about upgrading the DE surgical droid to handle this instead of a typical artisan type vendor? Would be nice to give the DEs something to do again.

Sounds good to me. Except knowing SOE they will probably make it so that the Surgical droid needs to be 'trained' by a CH. Somehow they always find a way to give it to the CH...

This occurs because for the most part it is a financial disaster to sit in a medical center healing wounds and damage for people. If there was money to be made healing you people, we would be there, but there isn't. The first time I actually made good money was selling buffs. How come when I charge 1 credit per unit enhanced, no one has an issue with this, but when I charge that to heal wounds, people get offended? I actually made as much sitting in the med center enhancing in 15 mins as I did my whole time in hospitals as a medic.

Maybe medics can get the /denyservice as well so we dont forget in the future and heal deadbeats by accident. This would be really nice with the CM AOE stims.

hospitals are comming 1000 credits at the door just to get in! this seems fair to me a hospital is going to cost 80k a week to run as i read in a post about player citys.
