ok guys
i have 2 characters, the one, obviously, a master doctor, and a 4212 rifleman with some scout and artisan in there.
my other character is master merchant, swordsman 0412, medic 2100, and novice scout
my original plan was to go MD / Master Rifleman with my one character, and have my other character be his accomplis for getting meat and doing the vendor thing
however recently i've been having a change of heart...
Requirements:
hexen is a master doc,
seithe can treat bleeding and use stim c's
seithe is a master swordsman
someone needs to have combat skills and scout skills
someone has to have merchant 3-0-0-4 or better
i'd like to start getting into some PVP for fun, maybe jedi someday, gonna do the badge collecting thing and get the FS in my spare time.
option 1
===========
hexen: mdoc/mrifles/ switch between artisan and scout for survey or hunt
seithe: mswords/mbrawler/merch 3-0-0-4/medic 2-2-3-0/novice scout
option 2
===========
hexen: mdoc/mrifles/ switch between artisan and scout for survey or hunt
seithe: mswords/merch 3-0-0-4/novice scout/medic 4-3-3-0/pikeman 0-0-4-0 or fencer 4-0-0-0
option 3
===========
hexen: mdoc/merch 3-0-0-4/rifles 0-0-0-4 (or 1 column of rifles for PVE defense and combat assistance when grouped)
seithe: mswords/mbrawler/medic 2-2-3-0/novice scout/pikeman 0-0-4-0/fencer 4-0-0-0/tka 0-0-0-4
if i go FS or jedi it'll be for combat, not crafting, so it will be done with seithe more than likely. i'm thinking option 3 at this point, but it requires the most work but will ultimately give me uber melee character with crazy defense (melee 171 and ranged 144 which i'm sure i am breaking the cap) and the highest defenses possible for dizzy/knockdown etc with a brawler character.
just looking for some guidance and support here, haven't made up my mind yet, and am not limited to these options, just what I came up with

why u need so high in merchant. all u need is 0001 for having 3 venders. what you need more for? also i assume you want the 3xxx for the world map option. well i am not si sure how worth it it is. in any case, get no higher than merch 3001. and spend the other points in geting higher scout.
seems to me, option 2 is best BUT: get only novice merchant or 0001, drop medic to 0040 and THOSE points spend in more fencer (the other def line) . after that, get more scout. need to use a calc to see ig you got engopuih points. DOC/RM is by itelf already good for PVP. this way you can PVP with both and scout with both. running two cahrs at once. is lag central. i rarlely do it. i even pay to get buffed now on my shipwrite alt, when doing some minor combat...

I say take your Doc with merchant. Boost up the artisan survey to lvl 4, and totally take away all combat on this character, excpet for pistols for maybe minor nest clearing for harvestors Pistols 4 with a good krayt scout blaster and you should be pretty safe, especially being a doc. Leave scout totally off of it. Play with the character builders to see what points you need in merchant, to see what you have left.
Your second account, have this be your hunter. If you are not making outrageous amounts of medical needs, then you do not need more than novice scout. I have a MD/TKM with 1000 scout and can harvest 10k herb off Yavin in a couple hours without realy trying (20-40 per harvest/kill). Mix up your brawler skills as you like. If you are making mad amounts of medz, hire rangers. You should be able to make plenty of money selling buffs/stims to contract out rangers to get the meats you need on top of what you can harvest.
Its tough. THere are so many fun templates and combo's, it is hard to settle on one. I run 2 accounts, with 3 chars, and not a day goes by where I want to change it up...I want to drop master doc, simply because it is so SP intensive...but then I realize why I am a doc...because is is awesome..lol. I choose TKM simply because of 2 reasons: 1: Meditation--yeah..im a doc, i can heal my wounds with packs, but damn..thats another 6 items to carry around...and 2: VK's are the only weapon I need (well, only weapon I can have..lol). Inventory is a major pain for a doc, and TKM is the least burden. Rifleman have 3 main guns to carry, double that for PvP, toss in assorted DOT guns.../groan....just too much. lol
Good luck in your template hunt..that was my 2 cents...sorry it turned into 4 dollars.

Maybe I am a freak and I solved this by running 4 toons.
1) Master Doc / Combat Medic 2044 / Pistols 0022
2) Mater Artisan / Merchant3004 / Marksman 0044 / Pistols 0022 / (Mater Chef in future)
3) Master Entertainer / Master Dancer / Master Musician / Novice ID
4) Master Marksman /Scout 4000 /BH 0440 / Pistols 3044 / Carbines 3044 /Medic 2000/Force Sensitive going for Jedi. (Still make good money hunting good creature spawns)
This way I can have 40 lots to work with so my Artisan / Surveyor can get the resources we need for chef and doctor. Both the doc and the artisan can survive in the wild because of the pistol skills. The entertainer is a total buff bot that provides for 10 fixed lots out of the 40. The combatant is going for Jedi.
My answer is to get another account so that you can have one toon dedicated to combat.

I am a huge fan of master merchant for any crafting characters you have. If plan on having a doc business id say MDoc/MMerchant on one toon with the survey tree for atrisan.
I'm also a huge fan of master doc on all my combat characters so I dont have to dual instance or look for buffs.
These are my characters.
Nimhnoid - MDoc, Mswords, some FS trees
St-Anger - MDoc, MMerchant, survey tree on artisan
Chidro - MWeapon smith, MMerchant, MArtisan, some tailor.
Geen - MCarbineer, 4440 Doc, 4010 scout
Ssjbob - MBrawler, TKM, 0440 Doc

I play two characters, the primary of which isa Master Doc/Master Rifleman. Prior to pursuing FS, that character also had Novice Scout. Unless you are planning on mass producing buff packs in large quantities, the amount you're able to harvest with a harvesting droid should be more than enough to keep you in supply of herbivore and avian meat. In your situation, I would use the second character to take care of any needs in Merchant you may have.
Also, to save you some time figuring it out, Master Medic/Master Doc take up a combined 140 points - 77 for Medic, 63 for Doc. The Doc/Rifle combo is great for pvp, and I've had great fun whenever i've participated in raids or pvp in general. You can either take up a support role and assist in healing companions, or join in the fray, all depends on your preference.

You counted your skill points wrong (if this is ONE toon you are talking about). Master Doc and Master TK will leave you with 18 skill points, enough to learn one other starter proff (scout/ent/mark/art) with one block in ONE tree. You can 0001 or 0100..however you see fit.
Master doc will go with any ONE single advance combat proff that does not requre a mastery as a prerequiste (no BH, no Commando).

i am starting to recognize the importance of having a doc/rifleman, and will probably stick with that, and leave my other character for other things. i've been doing quite a bit of group hunting with my doc, and his ranged has come in quite handy, as mediocre as it is. i'll let ya know what i come up with today.

ok ok i've come up with what i'm going to do, at least for now... it's not gonna be easy but its what has to be done
hexen
master doc, merch 3004, rifles 0004, enough rifles to support in a PVE situation
seithe
master swords/master brawler/fencer 4040/pikeman 0040/medic 2330/scout 0010
why? those combined totals (for combat) yield a +85 block/ +80 def vs dizzy/ +45 def vs knockdown/ +70 def vs stun/ +111 melee defense/ +99 ranged defense in addition to the abilities of a master swordsman for PVP
idk about you but that sounds pretty good to me. i can't justify messing around the "crafting points" with 2 characters if i want to have a dominating pvp character, granted its for fun, but ifi'm gonna do it I want to play serious.

With 2 characters, I am a big fan of the following:
1) Master CM/Master Doc - this is the crafter as well as the PvP and specialized (Corvette/DWB) group PvE character
2) Merchant/TKA4000/Medic0030 + whatever (more TKA,Fencer, Swords, Rifle, etc) - this is the solo PvE character that picks up the merchant needs. It's not optimized for PvP at all, but it is highly self-sufficient for solo PvE (TKA meditate is a huge help here for mind wound healing and powerboost buffing) and can even go around unarmored and unbuffed pretty successfully.

blah i hate TKA, unarmed blows IMO, it's just boring.
good advice Marrow, i might go that route, especially seeing as I can make Stim E's with no problem, i need at least 2xxx to get first aid, but other than that i can do just about anything... and getting med xp will be no problem, and its low enough level that i can tweak it as needed.
