Thread: recent revive side effects making cloning more appealing to patients!!
Recently when i revive people in my group they tell me that thier secondary stats get significantly reduced. I told them to wait a bit it should wear off in a while, but 30 mins went by till that happend and people started saying " dont revive me, itll beeasier to clone". heck the could run back and have me heal their wounds in less time then it would to wait for the revive to wear off.
I feel these side effects are ok if they lasted, say 2- 5 mins but not a half hour. they take away most of the luster revive has.
IS this a temperary thing? and has andbody else noticed it?
I've noticed it and it's a pain. I've heard that eating helps. I'm not sure if it's a particular food only or any food.
Revive is pointless and thus can be considered to be effectivly broken... how awesome is that. What's the point of me using Revive [which I haven't yet played with] if they incure stat penalties? I've never been *that* far away from the "nearest cloning facility"...
Maybe if you go a battlefield 3000m outside the closest town it makes sense, but even then the run doesn't take 30min...
It's a well known, very old, and very persistent bug called, alternately, the stat-stick or stat-loss bug most often.
Res sickness is supposed to last 60 seconds only. However, as you've found out, it sticks. (There are actually a LOT of messages on this forum dicussing this, BTW.) This is actually not just a Res only problem, there are many otehr times when this will occur, even when cloning, just usually to a lesser extent and most folks just don't even notice it's happened.
THe answer is usually just eating anything. If that does not seem to fix it (it normally will) and it only unsticks the stats that the food or drink used normally boosts, try getting some aircake. Usually aircake will have a small buff to all stats, so air cake is the always gonna be your best bet to make certain you get those stats unstuck. Overall a pretty easy fix, really, and a heck of a lot cheaper and less time consuming than cloning would be. ![]()
I now carry aircake with me on hunting trips. Rez, give them an air-cake, move on. Much faster then them cloning and us camping at their death spot until they get back...
And trust me...once the 'free death' is gone, people will LOVE being Rezzed instead of cloning even more.

This wouldn't be a bad option for me if SWG's trade system wasn't such a royal pain in the ass.
1) Tell player A you are TRADING WITH HIM In CAPS in the (usually) forlorn hope that he will realize ou're trying to trade with him.
2) Drag aircake onto Player A.
3) Wait.
4) Yell at Player A YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO TRADE WITH HIM.
5) Drag aircake onto Player A.
6) Wait
7) Click 'accept' on trade Screen.
8) Click 'OK" on the 'Trade session is cancelled' box.
9)Drag aircake onto Player A.
10) Wait
11)click 'accept' on trade screen.
12) Wait
13) click 'accept' on trade screen
14) Explain to player A how to 'eat' food.
15) Explain to player A why he should eat the food.
As it is, I've found laying a stamina or constitution buff on them seems to correct the bug a lot of times.
I have in no way earned any respect to be putting in my 2 cents here (I am pursuing CM and Doctor atm) but in all honesty I almost LIKE the idea of side effects like this happening, even if unintentional. Why? Simply for a little more realism to our profession. Our buffs have no side effects. Spice does. Ok... I like that as Doctor's only give you safe meds right???? HA.
Revive (bringing back from the dead, esentially) SHOULD have the possibility of negative side effects. After a reveive, here, take 2 of these and call me in the morning (eat some Aricake or food) SWEET! I know in the chaos this can be a pain, but honestly, the person revived should be grateful and if it is as simple as eating some frickin' aircake, for God's sake, find a safe spot and go wait till the Doc can give you some TLC...
I will probably be alone on this as I seem to find some sort of good in a lot of the chaos this game has given us....![]()
Popping an Enhance someon only works if they aren't already buffed. Often for my groups the folks will already have an enhancement from me, so they need some other method, such as eating or spice, to do it for them.
The simple concept is that SOME stat needs to get a boost and that will, more often then not, unstik the res of the stats. Tea is certainly great and easy to get, making it the most convenient solution, but not necessarily the BEST solution, simply because it does not always work. Most of the time it will, as will any solution that affects some number of stats. The BEST solution really is Aircake because a decent Aircake will provide a small buff to EVERY stat across the board, and is thus a guarantee that you will unstick all of them on those very rare instances where buffing only 1 or 2 stats just wasn't enough to unlock them all.
