Im at the turning point in SWG where Ive decided I want to be a Doctor, and was wondering if my current race as a Twi'lek is going to have too much downtime to be useful?

I have 1000 mind, 500 focus (max), and 500 willpower (max)- will this be good enough for doctor, or should I delete my character and start again as a zabrak (I dont want to be a mon cal)?

I would only delete my character if you think it's entirely necessary as I have pistoleer, most of medic, and good artisan resourcing tools.

Appreciate your advice,

tael.

I'm a twi'lek Master Doctor as well. Personally it doesn't make any difference. Look at it this way

At first, yes you might suffer from not having enough mind to fully heal people. But as you climb the ranks of doctor, this no longer becomes an issue. How you ask? well simply once you hit Master Doctor, and well even before that, you can cure most wounds in 1 try. Only time i ever run out of mind now is if i'm in a huge hunting group and they are getting pulvorized.

Just a lil off the topic, but since you said what your mind looks like, i might offer this suggestion. Depending on what you choose as a secondary profession, you might wanna rethink your distribution. Like say you will be a marksman/brawler as well, then you might want to add some more action, since most weapon's use action up the most. But then of course if your planning on being a artisan profession, then that really doesn't matter all too much

All in all, there really are no "uber" class for each profession, since all professions can be obtained by any class, just some harder than others. I mean you won't notice much difference in abilities between say 1 master doctor from each race in their abilities to heal.

So welcome to the secret society of twi'lek doctors

Also a Twi'Lek Master Doc. Although I would appreciate some higher secondary stats, I have enjoyed my character a great deal, especially as the good action helps in combat.

However, I can't see recommending you be a Doctor/Rifleman...actually I wouldn't recommend that for any species.

People who know me know I am high on Pistoleer/Doctor for a number of reasons.

The thing with rifles and correct me if I am wrogn here the specials will count against mind. So if you can max out your mind you would be okay as far as only having to focus on ONE pool to max out. With your race though that would be scary, since you are pullign from a LOW starting pool to have two drains on it might be suicide. I am a human doctor and I find that this serves me quite well. I am as I sais a psitoleer which allows me to follow and still ALWAYS be in a disreable range for both attacks and heals. When you are /following your main tank (if this is the system you use and I recomend it personally) you don't want a long rifle up close liek that it suffers a huge penalty to hit.

I like to HEAL damage, but I also like to DO damage.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

I'm a twi'lek master doc as well.. I wish i had higher focus and willpower.. But the other choice would be one of those really ugly races like mon cal.. I wouldn't be caught dead playing one of those hideous things.. So i'll live with my twi'lek.. You can always work around the lower focus willpower.. spice and food/drink can help.

Another Twi'lek Master Doc here.

May not be the "best" race for a Doc but nothing wrong with it.

Plus there's nothing more fun the changing your /language to Lekku and talk about all the rude people in the med center. (well as log as they're nota Twi'lek)

Oh and pistol specicals pull from the mind as well, but hit hardest on the action. The good thing about rifle is that you can one shot kill lots of things when you're high up the tree, (headshot 2 and above)and one hit from the mind pool won't hurt ya too bad. Only really bad thing, IMO, is that they're slow. But can always get a nice spray stick at 2.2 speed or there abouts.

Trandoshians (sp?) have a better group of mind stats than a twi'lek. Take it from a guy who read the description of the twi'leks as an intelligent race and picked them for doctor. BAD choice. The ONLY race that is arguably worse or on par with them is bothan. Bothans have 100 less mind pool, but 50 more willpower. everyone else, including Trandoshians and wookiees are smarter...

I started over as a zabrak (was a toss up between that or mon calamari) and I am SOOOO happy I did it. About to re-Master Doctor and it only took 2 1/2 weeks, but I know what I am doing... (I know could have been done much faster, but I am also play the game... not power leveling)

The ONLY ability that twi'leks have that is special or unique is the silent speech... but any moron can /tell...

Thanks for the encouragement everyone - I’m going to stick with Twi'lek and aim for master doc. I've just come from Rifleman (4-1-1-1) so I’m used to getting mind drain from headshots and mind benders, but I just needed to hear that it would all work out okay.

In Rifle PvP I usually fill my little green head with muon, ormachek, dweezil and bespin port, so Ill just keep up the tradition as a doctor.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it - there's a lot of love on this forum (which is refreshing after coming from the combat forums) so I’m glad to be part of the team.

Regards, tael.

**EDIT - I have 1100 mind (max), 500 focus (max), and 500 willpower (max)

Can I be a useful doc with this low willpower?

*raises hand*

Well, I'm a Twi'lek Master Doctor. Having had a Mon Calamari Medic before this I can tell you, the low Focus and Willpower does kinda blow, but aside from that, I don't see much of a difference.

Is your question "Will a Twi'lek be useless as a Doctor?". If so, definately not! In fact I quite enjoy being different since Twi'leks are one of the lesser-chosen races for Doctor. But if your question is more along the lines of, "Is a Twi'lek the best species for a Doctor?", well no.

IMO, it depends as to how **edit** you are. Some people would rather have the best possible race for whatever class they choose to play. Myself, I just like Twi'lek women.

I agree, twi'lek is a pretty good race for a healer, mine is a 0/4/4/4 doctor and 2/0/3/4 combat medic right now and she's really good especially in a group situation, her heals are very potent so that means pretty much less healing all around. she also has 0/0/1/0 rifleman skill. I heal and shoot at the same time, and use specials often. the drain really isn't that bad, mostly cause in a good group she doesn't get hit anyway. however I admit that the ranged healing from her cm tree helps with this as I can stand back a good distance and throw heals while firing off a spraystick. Overall I think as pertains race, in the low end medic game when you need to use more stims to heal a person's ham, the mind issue can get in the way, but as you reach master doctor or combat medic, I don't think race really comes into play. Like a previous poster said I think the other species are just hideous..I've only played a zabrak/human/twi'lek so far and probably won't bother with any other species. at least not until each race is truly distinct and there are clear advantages to each one depending on the ones you pick..and I mean REAL advantages to each one, not the negligable modifiers to random skills like what exist now for each race.

I'm a Twi'Lek also, about to hit master medic (in 40 apprentice exp), and so far have had no problems at all. I used the stat migration to give 1100 mind, 500 focus and 500 willpower as you did. then put health and action to 775, and the other four stats as low as they can go. Don't really care about regen rates or HA special costs when i can fill up my bars with a stim or 2.

Plus Twi'Lek is the sexiest lookin race in the game
