Yes, I tend not to buff overts because after I buff an overt (and watch them run off to grind out their millions) you often seeyourself getting whacked by an overt rebel and you're probably not expecting it, nor will you have yourself buffed if you have a buff line. It's just safer not to buff overts, I do however buff overts on the condition they stay and protect me till my tef wears off.
Look for potential energy on the resources, ALWAYS use advanced parts when you can.
No dont bother buffing as a novice, one day back in the day I was a novice, crafting my own buffs, running around buffing people for the hell of it, I quickly got flamed and was told that I would be reported for buffing them when they did not want it (go figure a guy tries to help you out and you get shot down)

I doubt weak buffs would still bother people (for free), since you can buff over weaker buffs. My master doctor (another character) is neutral, so CAN'T buff overts. I suspect the real problem could be somebody coming in with a TEF...

Surely you can buff people, and charge money for it as a novice doctor ... only dont expect alot of customers.. its maybe best do give some buffs to new players, and show them that its really usefull to get buffed.
And like the others said buffing/healing an overt, will make you flagged too. And than you can be attacked

I think what annoyed people in the past was that once you had a buff you were stuck with it and so Novice Docs (with the best if intensions) going round buffing people who didn't ask for it with low power buffs really annoyed people.
For example, if you were planning to go hunting and while waiting in (say) Bestine for your friends a passing Doc hit you with a low power buff you were stuffed because you couldn't get a decent buff until the one you had wore off.
Now a higher power buff will overwrite a lower power one so I doubt people will be to annoyed, I still wouldn't class it as polite though.

ill just clarifie it a bit more. if you are an covert rebel doc, and you buff an overt reb, then YOU get a tef, thats the little flag that pops up in your ham bar. This make YOU open to attacks by overt Imps. (and vice versa)
i too agree to it, if the player stays (the 5 minuts or so till it wears off) next to me, to protect me.
usually though, most overt Imps stay away from CNET (and overt rebs from theed) so the danger is not too high.

Btw, it's OQ you should look out for. PE is second in importance. Also, check the DR for the duration.

It doesn't do much harm to "ninja buff" someone after we were granted the ability tobuff over weaker buffs. But noteveryone likes it and it's considered rude. I'd advise against it. Respect other's right not to be buffed regardless of your need for med xp or good intentions.

Try going to Mos Eisley and selling novice buffs for cheap to the newbs. Will help you get experience and a bit of money and help them level better. No idea what price to charge, I have never tried it. But in theory it sounds like a great idea.
I don't buff overts because I cannot. I am neutral. Neutrals and opposites cannot buff overts. Same side can but gains you a TEF (temporary enemy flag) and opens you to an attack by an overt opposite.
Check out the FAQ at the top for any questions about crafting ... they are great explanations and help me out tremendously when I was learning.
Good luck out there.

I buff overts for free, any time any place. As a member of the Galactic Civil War I think of it as my role to keep the troops strong.
Sure I get sent to the cloners often but ahh well, it makes for a much more interesting night.

I used 850 Power buffpacks to buff newbies for free in Mos Eisely, to grind the Wound Treatment Speed line, they really appreciated it.
Good XP, Good deeds, Good fun.

Yes, selling cheap buffs in Mos Eisley is a great way to go. Just remember that they will have little cash, and lots to spend it on. I even went on newbie groups with my doc character, just for fun and for the little experience I got. It sure brought back the old days.
If you're unsure about "ninja buffing," even though there's no real reason to be mad about it (unless you're running a tumbling macro--a totally different issue), I suggest taking out your medical droid and healing wounds in the starport. Most players take a little while to load their character, which gives you enough time to heal those cloning wounds. It's like a MASH unit in the starport. You do have to be careful about overts, though, since they will technically show covert until the player totally logs in. I never died from a TEF from healing wounds this way, though. And what player is going to complain about having their wounds healed for free?

As a Novice doc I actually was able to buff quite a few people for 900 for an hour and a half and make a bit of cash from it. Those buffs are fun, they don't make you invincible to everything but Krayts and NS Elders. I used to buff myself and go do missions with them against stormtroopers and such. Still not overly difficult but fun to actually have to fight a little harder to stay alive.
What Sunakk said about healing wounds in the starport is a great idea. Especially with JTL out, a player who ejects from his ship gets 200 wounds to every stat! The starports are starting to look like war zones, perfect place for doc xp.
