Thread: Stopping the Tumble Monkeys

I hate grinding. I hate that the game makes us grind, but I hate grinders even more. I really dislike people setting their computer up with a heal macro, and walking away from it to have a new profession the next morning.

So. What to do? Macros are too useful to get rid of. (I used a macro for getting my crafting XP; it cut down on the clicking I had to do.. I wish that it hadn't been neccessary, but I think XP comes too slowly to some skills.)

My thought: can we simply change the game so that macros stop working once the player auto-afks? If the player types nothing new or doesn't use the mouse for, say, 20 minutes, the client just does a /dump.

I like playing the game. I want everyone to play it, not just let it play itself so they can have their uberCharacter (tm).

I would guess, that once the HAM changes go in, tumbling won't cost HAM. At least not in the sence that it will be healable. I never got onto TC to check out the way the HAM changes were going to work, but I get the impression that the actual bar drops, making it unhealable, and it will only regen naturally. Since the /tumble moves are in the combat part of the ctrl + A menu, I'd assume they'll be included in the change.

Good Idea, but dunno if that would be a good one. As much as I dislike AFK Macro's they serve a purpose...and if for nothing else...entertainers would get the tail end of the deal. Again I really dislike AFKers, but Sometimes you just can't get Entertainer thats not AFK. If the game did a /dump guess what. Now a lot of people that have mind wounds are totally worthless. I firmly believe that AFKers suck, but I was an entertainer once. And sometimes AFK Macros is the only way you can get XP. Good Idea though, but as someone said yesturday....for the time being just buff their stamina. lol.

Works great and I pissed a lot of people off yesturday for doing that. But I also got a lot more cheers. hahaha

I have been my guild's tumble monkey but it was only for them and it was never in a crowded med center, mostly because people tended to jump in on it and then demand to be tipped for it.,and because it is rude for two afkers to take up space that active players need.Just my two cents.

Has anyone really thought about how the the new combat system will effect the medical professions as a whole? Currently the ways of getting reasonable amounts of exp. constantly are:

  1. Tumble monkey -gone with new HAM system

  2. Heal entertainers -gone with new HAM system

  3. Heal wounds - should be unchanged, but highly irregular on how many wounds people have

  4. Heal wounded pets - probably will get changed once the HAM system makes this the new method for fast exp.

  5. Appling buffs - doctor only and requires wound treatment 2, I find it highly strange how hard it is to give away buffs

  6. Rezzing - doctor only and requires wound treatment 4

  7. Heal people in combat - I have never gotten good exp doing this and it will lessen with new HAM system

As you can see, with the upcoming change to the combat system, the ability to get exp. in a reasonable manner will be drastically reduced. A group full of highly armored special spammers used to be a medical professionals dream come true. This may change once the combat revision takes place.

Less healing means less stims which means less money.

The combat pass will take a look at the uberness of combat players.

I'd expect more people being hurt in combat, both wounds and damage.

He makes a good point though. How does the new system work? Is there a way you can find out? Maybe we can post a thread on the TC? I'm personally not worried about it, but how will it effect those people that are getting XP. Because from what I read about so far is the your entire HAM will decrease when you use the a special. So in reality how will this effect Up and comers?

New system isn't on TC yet.

Not sure what publish it is slated for (or if new HAM is part of the same publish as combat pass.. but I think it probably has to be).

The thing that hit TC was hacked in without any interface support. What I got on the TC test threads, was that the new HAM system was going to have specials based off a separtate pool linked to HAM.

(if you have 950 Action, you also have 950 special Action).

Action (ther one we have now) is reduced by damage and wounds... And regens based on secondary stats.

Special action is reduced by specials/ actions in game with a action cost and wounds (since it is based off of te other action score). Regen is unclear (the TC test weas fixed rate). Cost of specials is still based on secondary stats. Doing specials woudl cause no damage (tumble is a special for reference).

---------------------------

How buffs would work is unknown.

Action buffed to 3000 may be 3000, but specials may stay 950.

Nobody ever said.

When it hits TC expect a lot of people to test the hell out of it.

What we saw before was a very crude early test.

The only thing I can say for certain, is that the intent seems to be to keep specials for causing healable damage (for vatrious reasons).

Well even if the tumbling stops, if you will be able to add/remove buffs I can easily foresee what will happen after you get to 0-2-4-0 doctor. Buff on, Buff off, Buff on, Buff off....

If it isn't tumbling there will be something else to get you up to that level like healing damage on someone mining radioactives.

No matter what you do, if there is some way to get xp there will be a way to get in faster by repeating a process over and over.

End of the day who really cares?? if these people wanna macro there way up there, they'll have less to show for it then you did using perservernce and finger clicking. pfft there not getting any satisfaction from it at all i think hehe but you can go away with the good feeling you worked for it

this games more than easy enough to make money in, even the novice brwalers can make a few hundred and grow, and grow so i say let em do what they like. and hopefully a month after macroing there way up to master doc, they'll piss off and those of us who worked hard to get where we are we'll still be here enjoying that title

Novice Brawler, Master TKA
Profesions given up:
Creature Handler ( ok they nerfed me Graul Maulers so yes im a wuss )
Bounty Hunter (most fun prof in this game and i'll probably go back to it! )
Doctor ( Was a nightmare, no please or thankyous most of the time for free wound heals!)
Commando (was fun, but then got boring hehe)
