Thread: Why The Agro
It's not insurmountable though, I'm actually starting to worry that if they calm the aggro down it'll be too easy.....
I'll get me coat...

The problem doesn't really lie with the 2v1 fight.....the problem is when you have more then 1 creature attack....say 3 level 80's....attacking one person with a group of 7 attacking that one mob, you heal and now you take agro for the 2 undamged mobs.
Or worse (and I've seen it) 10 level 80's with a group of 8....all attacking one mob, and you heal...now you just topped the Hate list for 9 of those mobs. And trust me....that sucks, and I learned my leason from that....Generally speaking, if my group pulls more then 2-3 mobs, I run away. I can revive, so honestly I don't care if people die. But when I go down, I am forced to clone, because I'm usually the only Doctor in my groups.
Hey I know what you mean I've been doing the (busted
) ph 4 healing quest & aggro'ing the whole damn village on top of me at times, what I meant was that if this didn't happen then I could easily keep my group alive up thereall day with no real thought or tactics.
IDO think the aggro needs tweaking but I also think that high-end mobs should be taking down the doctor (particularly npc's who could be expected to use such tactics, it brasses me off when a mob of pickets identifies the doc as a target ahead of the bloke hitting em with an axe, can't see hat happening in RL).
With a decent group drawing the aggro off of you it's possible to stay alive, sometimes you have to run, sometimes you have to trust your group to outdamage your heals so you can recover, I think we'll get the hang of it sooner rather than later, we've just been thrown in at the deep end with all the changes.
Try getting a decent group for starters.
Learn that it isn't a set of solo artists firing willy-nilly at anything they like. Get a Tank... Let them Tank. that means THEY choose the target, and NO ONE fires at anything but that target. Give the tank a chance to get off a Taunt. Heal as much as possible with Bacta Infusion line.A Heal over Time doesn't draw the aggro a single large hit provides, and Infusion heals just as much if not more, while the large heals build you a rep with the mobs as someone who is doing as much damage to them as you are providing in heals. So....
Healing one Tank with Infusion line yields ~200 per tick regeneration. Nothing compared to the damage actually dealt, so you're name never makes the top of the 'Hate List'
Heal 5 people in rotation with Jab or Shot for ~600, each with a different target... Unless they are doing more than your~600, your name just went straight to the top of the list.
And anyone who won't assist the Tank, and insists on pulling their stunt of firing at whatever they like? One warning, then kick them out and let them suffer. Groups are like military squads. To think ANY other way is mass suicide. You must concentrate destructive power on one enemy at a time. Any other 'tactic' will just get a whole bunch of trips to the cloner

If the whole group focuses on one target out of severaland you heal, even if you heal for only10 points, you will get aggro from all the other targets that haven't been hit by anyone. So obviously this is not a good tactic unless you are a TKM as well as a doc (which I am, by the way). Meaning this is a BAD suggestion if the aim is to keep the doc alive. What should be done is that tanks should focus on all targets except the one the group is killing. We have tried this many times against GDKs and it works nicely. When we get noticed by more than one GDK at one time, I as a tank aggro the other GDKs than the one the group is killing. This way the group kills that one fast and then can help me out with the others.
A small example of what is borked with healing, this happened last weekend:
Recently I did nk-necrosis with my doctor / combat medic. We cleaned out his helpers and started attacking him. I stood at a safe distance watching my friends fighting. We had a jedi tank who didn't need much attention but suddenly, abit into the fight, a swordman started to take damage. Naturally I sprung into action. Idid bacta toss on him, healing for 1200 or so, he was pretty safe. Now after just this single bacta toss NK-necrosis goes out of his way to me and attacks me. I hadn't done anything but throw this single bacta toss and for some reason it was enough to give me aggro even though my friends had surely had enough time to do several times that in damage. Necrosis killed me instantly.
Lying on the floor, 20s or so pass I decide that I should use my self-rez ring because I didn't know if I get loot if I'm dead. So I use it. Thesecond I'm alive necrosis goes out of his way and smacks me down again. So, for some reason I was still at the top of his threat table even though he was down to 10% of his health and I hadonly used a single heal.
