Hey there I am currently a tkm/doc but now that I have been a doc for a while I realize that there is not much the tka meditate line does that I cannot do....short of mind wounds, powerboost (which isnt really that amazing), and force of will (nice, but does not always work). Basically I want strong PvE with some flexibility in PvP. TKM is great, but im tempted to do something that would benefit from doc even more. Fencer has excellent defense but I found it's offence to be a tad lacking against higher mobs. Swordsman has some great damage weapons as well as med armor piercing, but are they good with doc? Lastly, I do not know too much about pikeman, but it seems that it can be pretty good in the hands of the right person, having decent armor pierce as well and they only electric based weapon in the game other than the lightning cannon (good for the droids in the corvette and bunker). Any opinions would be great
Basically I just am trying to decide if I can be better than I am if I change to another melee prof. Oh and I am trandoshan, which is one of the reasons I am TKM....but I have heard their bonus to unarmed is trivial at best. Thanks!

For PvP I recommend Doctor/Rifleman, its very strong. PvE Swordsman will probably be your best choice, although any combat prof combined with Doc is good.
Best of luck with your choice.

I'm a proponent of the doc/carb template...I think this is the best support combo around. You don't get too close to the action in team PvE or PvP, which allows you to run around healing/rezzing when necessary. Plus being a carb is rewarding because it is a very balanced prof (there are some great specials, good weapons, but it is not invincible because of the HAM costs). Check out this post for some guidance: Doc/Carb template

If you want to go off the beaten path, go with pikeman or carbineer. Both are fine professions with some interesting attacks. The big downside to both is the HAM cost of specials, but that is where the doctor comes in. Pike is actually pretty easy to level as a doctor - get some accuracy food (accuracy is awful pre-master), buff yourself, spin attack lairs and watch the bodies pile up all around you (literally watch it as the area attack goes away if there are too many corpses in the area).
You would still probably be more powerful as a TKM (highest melee toughness = great tanking ability) or heavy swordsman (great damage output without the TKM kinetic-only restriction).

ive done all 3 of these combos ( currently doc/tkm)
swordsman - pve kill anything
- pvpweak defence, not very accurate.
fencer- pve useless
- pvp awesome for group fights if you want to heal, great against people who arent prepared with adequate stun defence,1on1 vs serious pvper's u would want to get some dot weapons
tkm - pve only one type of dmg, but can be pretty good
- pvp best offensively out of the 3, good defensively if yo know what your doing
ive found tkm to be the best balanced

I'm currently trying an experiment -- Doc/CH.
I should say at the outset I'm not really into PvP. But for PvE it is working great so far. I'm weaning myself of my weapon skills as I skill up in CH. Fights tend to be on the long side, but I've been avoiding using specials to try to gauge if my target of Master CH with no weapon skills whatsoever will end up working.
I buff myself with action, health, constitution and stamina, and my pet with constitution and stamina. When I first started I had to tank for my pets, but now they are tanking for me.
The nice thing is that with the Scout req for CH, I have been harvesting my own herbivore & avian meat. The biggest downside I have seen so far is that occasionally my pet will disappear back into the data pad without a command given. This can be...uncomfortable...when it happens in the middle of a fight.

I am working on mine now and I am thoroughly enjoying Rifleman/Doc. I have been having a blast with some one hit kills and the damage it can do on overcharge is amazing.

rifleman is the best, especially if you decide to hunt big things, like krayts. you will take a little more damage, but dishing out 2 times as much damage as a master swordsman is worth it. i'm master doc/master rifleman, and out of 100's of krayts, i have only lost the rights to one because of ks'ers. Rifleman also owns pvp currently. just make sure if you get rifleman get +7 in rifle speed tapes, because at +97 rifle speed (90 at master) you can shoot one shot per second with any shot and any rifle. with +97 i shoot strafe shot 2(biggest damage shot, used to get looting rights on big things) 3 times faster than +90

I'm swords/doc and I absolutely love it. Even though I'm not Master yet, I come across some pretty big
things and can hold my own rather easily.
