I just recently reactivated my account and and I am a Dr. That bieng said i know what i am about to purpose could take money out of our pockets.
I would realy realy like to see Buffs last for thier duration if you log in or out of the game. One of the reasons i hd stopped playing is because i donthave large amounts of time to spend playing anymore. The time i do have i would spend trying to recoup the cost of buffs while hunting etc. To avoid this problem and make the game feel a bit better I say:why cant it be if i have a 3 hour buff and i play one hour online and have to log, when i log back on i should have two hours left on my buff. This small change would make the biggest world of difference IMHO.
ANy thoughts?

I would actually be for this if we can also get it so pets can keep their buffs when stored. This would open a whole new market to us to for buff pets.

I'm all for it, and I really don't think it'll take money out of our pockets. There's a few problems with it, though, that SWG might not be able to cope with.
One, the buff lasts for the 3 minutes or so after you log out, which is the duration that your character remains "logged" by the server. To change that, they'd have to change the login/out refresh rate for the server, keeping you logged in for a longer period of time. To do this for an indefinite period would bea trick, to say the least. I'm sure it could be done, but I don't think the benefits are really worth the hassle of 6 months of testing, retesting, complaining about dying after logging out, etc etc.
Besides, recouping the cost of a buff is about two missions, anyway, so the cost isn't a huge deal.

Yeah i agree its not a big deal but it would be nice.Say i only have an hour or half an hourtoplay and i want to run some missions, If i run those two missionto recoup the cost of thebuff i dont have much time leftto do something constuctive and feel like i acomplished something.I dont think it would be hard to acomplish this although i am not a Dev so i couldnt know. I would think it has nothing to do with how long your Char is logged on or not. They could just have a few rewritablebits of data be saved to your computer ina character profilewith the information on what states your character/pet etc had and the durations etclast time you logged out. As i said it would make the game alot more enjoyable for casual gamers or busy people.

Well your not paying for the duration or strength, your paying for the resources and Doctors time.
I have mixed feeling about this idea. It's nice, but....doesn't seem to fit the game currently.

I understand your situtaion and I see your problem. But if I where you then I would do something where you would not have to worry about recouping the cash for the buff everytime. For instance you have lots plant some harvesters get some resources and make some cash. Once you do that you will be technically makeing money while not logged in. There are manymany ways to make moeny in this game other then running missions. All you need is the direction, modivation, and determination

This is the reason this idea will have high resistance. It would be an unneeded change, especially with faster buff times just put on live yesterday. Most would rather have the dev time spent on more fixes/improvements like we've seen recently.
Personally I hope to see the gameplay necessity for buffs diminish with the Combat Upgrade. Requiring buffs just to go have fun was certainly not designed, and takes away from short-term play. It will be nice to see a combat system that makes buffs an advantage, but not essential to fight (and be successful).

Sunnak your right. That would be the ultimate fix involving buffs. I hope that they will no longer be required also. That bieng said i guess i cant get all my money from selling buffs anymore
but that ok with me if they fix combat yadda yadda yadda

There's no way they would do that. If your characters stats were saved on the client, then they would be hackable.

nice idea. i play for about an hour a day on weekends, so that would be great to me.
as for business, well theres enough already players needing the starting 3 hours, and all of us should have enough $$ to live off

I highly disagree, especially now that shuttles are 1 minute timer, and that buffing takes approx 30 seconds per person. The time sinks associated with buffs have dropped drastically, and finding a quick buff should no longer be a problem.

If I'm understanding what you're saying correctly, I disagree. It'll never happenbecause you'll have entire groups of people who will camp high level mobs fully buffed. They'll buff up, head down to the Geo cave, and kill the Acklay. Then they'll log off, wait two hours (go watch TV or play another character or something), and log back in fully buffed. Then they'll kill the Acklay again, log off, wait two hours, log back in fully buffed, etc. etc. ad infinitum.
There are characters who already do this in some form (relying on spice/food/drinks for "self buffs"). The two hour respawn on the Acklay makes it hard to time right in order to kill her twice in one buff session (and impossible to kill twice in one mind buff session). If the countdown timer on buffs stopped when players logged off, however, fighting the Acklay fully buffed four times in a row would be pretty easy to pull off.
Besides, I'm a doctor and I make $$$ buffing. Why would I want them to last longer? That's just less business for me.
