Thread: What was the reason mind healing was removed?
I searched, but could not findthe info. What was thestated reason forthe removing of mind healin the beta? Was it to stop non-combat exploits? combat exploits? Both? If it was to also stop combat exploits, i would think that it would have beencaught/fixedsooner in the beta instead of near the end.

Like having 1 guy shooting and one doc using full heal packs over and over
well that and to give the entertainers some reason for their existance ![]()
Well, I can see that high level mind heals woudl be tough to overcome. But without enhance packs for mind, the exact opposite is what we have. Mind bleed poison, head shot rifles, etc.... Mind has become the single most used PVP target since there is little or no way to buff or heal it. So maybe a happy medium is to let doctors make Mind Enhance packs like we can for the other stats, but still have to rely on dancers and entertainers to increase that healing at all.
And chefs can make mind buffs cant they?
and smuggles with spices if im not mistaken.
Either way something should be done about it..
what im not sure off

probably just so that doctors can't be indestructable kind of.

That is what I had been assuming. BUT, when I think back to some post I saw a LONG time ago, i keep thinking thatit stated thereason they removed it was mostly non-combat related (Do something which uses action, stim action/mind/health, repeat).
They are adding mind healing back, and it seems from the brief mentions that pop up about it to be mostly because of combat. So what about makinga person indestructable? If they removed it for combat reason, why are they putting it back in?
If the mainreasons for removingare NON-Combat ANDifthey are bring it back mainly for combat, I had an idea on how to fix it. Stims work on mind ONLY when the target is in combat. It seem simple enough IF the reason they removed mind healing is non-combat related.

One reason it was taken out, was the xp exploit of people tumbling/rolling/burstrunning(before the timer) and then another person healing them. And then that person in turn would tumble/roll/burstrun and be healed. It was an infinite xp loop since you never ran out of mind due to the stim heals.
Then there is the already stated fact that we(docs/cms/medics) would become invincible in Battle, both PvP and PvE.
Battle would be determined by who could deal out the most damage in the time between stims. We'd end up with everyone and their AT-STs, Wrixes, Archane Webmesters and Commando Buddies all firing/attacking the doctor in hopes of getting enough damage done in one volley to take the doctor out. And they'd have mere seconds to do it in since, with a single E-Stim(assuming the mind damage healing were the same as the Health/Action) we would be back at 300% HAM(Having already D Level Buffed ourselves).
If there were two docs in the group? Or a Doc and a Combat Medic? On Both Sides? Then the battle would never end...
Best way to reimplement the mind damage healing, in my opinion, is simply remove any xp gain from mind damage healing(thus removing the xp exploit) and remove self healing of mind for anyone with a med use of 20+(thus no indestructible docs/cms/medics)
Jedi are able to heal mind on themselves and others, according to info on the Jedi skill tree that surfaced recently. High-level Jedi also get commands that heal all three HAM bars at once.

There will never be enough Jedi to make this widely available, however.

We had mind healing in Beta. Why? Because each HAM pool is targetable, it should also be healable(damage-wise).

Ok, I think i saw the post where it mentioned the first example (or simliar) as a reason why mind heal was removed. But about doctors becomeing invincible, I've been assuming this was also a reason, but does anyone know the post that speciifcly says so? Or is everyone else also assuming it?
One reason I'm asking is mind heal is being added back, and if they are stim like (instead of a Squad leader abilty for example,), how does that stop the invincible build? I've been thinking that there are ways to stop healings using knockdown, dizzy with posture change (Is the standing up that you visually do when you take a med counted as a posture change? If so, you can dizzy and lower posture on a person and he can't heal anymore.) andattack the mind pool (With no doctors buffs,it is still weaker than the others). This is why I was looking for the specific Dev post stating why beta mind heal was removed.

You won't find such a post. No such statements from these forums were ever made by a Dev. They probably were stated on the old Beta forum, but those have long since been wiped. So you won't find such a post. Sorry.
Although, comparing it to now, the Devs were downright chatty back in beta.
