Right now im trying to choose between two other professions.
Teras kasi and combat medic

reasons for combat medic, it's similar to doctor and kind of "ying and yang" i've also heard that some doctor skills are good for making some of the combat medic stuff.
Reasons for choosing teras kasi, i like teras kasi aswell, and I'm soon unarmed IV.
Also having a fighting profession would help.
Going with combat medic I can also have room for carabine/rifle/pistol IV in the marksman tree.
So what do you guys think=

I've thought about that too sincei have the same problem here is what i concluded:

to be efective in groups go CM /carbine or pistol (most prefare pistol) but you'd be fairly limited to grouping.

advantages:

- range stims/area stims i've tried being a combat doctor and that simply doesn't work in large groups

-supression fire/warning shot/threaten shot - keeps extra mobs in line - i grouped with a comando and used threaten and that helped quiet a bit.

- you get poisons

disadvantages:

- you probobly won't have points for artisan and scout so getting resources by yourself would be real hard.

- you would need many types of resource to craft

for solo/ group creature handler is probobly best.

advantages:

- big creatures that fight for you and you can buff

- you have decent harvesting

- if you master ch and doctor you'll have enough points for artisan

-you don't only heal the tankyou can control it

- you can solo missions

-don't forget it's easier to tame and survive and extra cash from selling tamed creatures.

- ultimate for survaying/mining/harvesting

disadvantages:

- gotta feed the creature

- you probobly won't be able to use any weapons other than cdf , staff, survival knife, heavy axe.

- your defensive skills would stink

solo

Melee class is probobly a waste of time but it's viable. in a group it won't be wise for you to engage the enemy.

i went this and it works good cause i can hunt my own animals and not die.

Doc 4-4-4-4
Pistoleer 0-0-4-0
CH 1-1-0-0
scout 4-0-4-0

with this you are able to harvest good ammounts from creatures, negaotiate terrain well, and use a greater sludge panther as a tank. And also do some pretty heavy pistol damage.

here's my template:

master doc

master CM

novice artisan OR scout depending on if i'm hunting or resource harvesting. it only costs 100 to train the novice skill

pistol marksmanship 1 for general amusement. i prefer entering pvp battles with 3000H/A with 2500 secondaries, 2000 mind, and 1100 focus after buffs and food... its amusing to watch people say i'm cheating when i poison them and begin cackling

They are all viable... depends on what you enjoy. Personally I went CH/Pistoleer because a) I get Explore IV so I can run around faster, b) I get a creature to tank for me, c) Pistoleer bleeds health which works well with pets.

And I still have enough skill creds to keep Artisan and basic surveying (although I thinking of dropping Artisan to further improve my CH skills)

I'll give you an example, and you decide the outcome of it..... I choose Master Doc / Combo with my Master Tera-kasi for this reason......

Pvp Side.

Theed home of the Imperials, territory of the massacres between Imps and rebels. I finally master tera-kasi, God no more Baz nitches.. Anyways I decided what I can do the combo of master doc/master tk in pvp. Landed in Theed , didnt even bother to clone myself ( master meditate = no more cloning Heals all wound ) called my crafter medical droid and started buffing myself 720 Base Enchance on all HaM and 2ndary stats. Had my Muon Gold ready at Hotkey F-12 key... + 500 mind, willpower, and focus...hence you can SPAM all your Specials..and you wont even see your Mind go down.... and commence massacre vs imps.. outcome, killed + 50 imperials , Magmarok died 4 times. I respect Combat Medic cause of there **edit** poisons vs minds... duh...didnt made any cure for poisons (..

Pve Side.

Decided what's my max potential ...so i went to LoK...and started Looking for Kimo's ... Tank 3 of them... ofcourse the compliment buff on my doctor side and Muon Gold...and killed all 3. ....

I say master tk/master doc is an awesome combo....

Ahh... I can Vouche for the Master Doctor / Master - Tera kasi Combo....

as magmarok said...you can toe toe with 3-4 Kimozila and will stuff have half of life...and as for pvp...i fell in love more to this combo. cause we do rock in pvp. our weakness on this combo..is MIND....but then that's why i carry 5 crates of MUON GOLD.

A couple of currections on your post....

This line "if you master ch and doctor you'll have enough points for artisan" is false. You CANNOT Master CH and Doc and still have novice artisan. Master CH & Doc takes 246 points.

"you probobly won't be able to use any weapons other than cdf , staff, survival knife, heavy axe."

Sorry but you are wrong again. With Master CH /Master Doc you will have NO weapon skills (because with only 4 pts left you can't get novice marksman or brawler either to get any weapon skills).

Now yes a Master CH /Master Doc can be a very powerful PvE class. With your heals and being able to Buff your pets (when they are young), and if you wanted to you could buff them for an additional 1-2K when they were full grown (not realyl needed to buff a 10K Ham pet tho), you can do missions pretty easily. The major drawbacks are...

1) No weapon skills at all (of any type). If your pet does not hold ALL of the aggro (especially managing to get the attention to any adds) then you are pretty much getting a quick trip back to the reclaim terminal. As you have no way to deal any kind of damage to protect yourself.

2) You will be buying ALL of your resources (unless you have friends/PA members to get them for you or to help you place your harvesters on all the "resource shifts").

Need an edit button.

After re-reading my post I was wrong about 1 thing. I said you could NOT use ANY weapons with the Master CH/Master Doc template. Well that was wrong you can use a regular plain survival knife (from your Scout skills). However I don't see thsi being any help at all if you happen to get mob aggro.

Combat Medic or Pistoleer.

Do not pick rifleman, that is the worst combo for a doctor.

As a doc, you'll usually be right at the fight healing whatever is tanking. That means you'll have lousy accuracy with a rifle. Also, rifles use mind pool and so do heals, so you're double-dipping into an unhealable pool. Also, rifles have the longest firing delays, and firing delay = healing delay.

You need a fast weapon that works well from short range.

I suggest pistoleer over TKA because I think it's in your best interest to stay out of melee range, unless you plan on soloing all the time.
