I offered in another thread to provide a snapshot of the sales from my main store to anyone that was interested. My vendors provide just the standard meds there-Stims, States, and Cures and those vendors have done about 85 million credits in business since September 16th of last year (the start point for the download). This period is a representative sales pattern for one of my new stores starting up-I moved my main store operations to Riverlands in July, then rebranded as Definitive when my partners and I joined together to start the new company.
I downloaded the data from Merchant's Friend into an Excel Spreadsheet yesterday and starting work on it. In deference to my customers I have deleted their names from the sheet, but I'll add some trend data for per-customer purchases back into the sheet.
What I'm going to do with the spreadsheet is to break it into the following tabs:
- Summary: This page will have an analysis of sales trends by product line and product
- Overall sales: This will be the raw record of all the sales transactions
- Product tabs: There will be a tab for each of the four major vendor types I run for standard meds: Stims, Woundpacks,
- Cures/Resists, and States.
I'll identify on a timeline any significant events that effected sales so that the data is as meaningful as possible. While this reflects sales prices and trends on Tempest, because of the product line I sell it's a good base to generalize stats such as:
- Ratio of Stim-B to Stim-D to Stim-E
- Ratios of Woundpack sales (primary stats to secondaries, B to C to D to E, etc.)
- Ratios of state pack sales
I'll try to set this up for hosting, but I may start with just sending it by email-although I'm partway through prep and the spreadsheet is already 1.4MB in size.
LOL...edited to add: I forgot to say-if you're interested in this, please let me know. It will help me decide whether to spend more time with the pricing/planning tool or this.

I'm definitely are, and will try something similar after you.. but as I delede merchant friends data every few months. I dont have a large history. just takes ages to load after 1-2 month and 500 customers + and wish I could keep vendors stocked to make it more representetive, half the time the med vendors are empty.. lol,but never the buffs..hehe

OK...I'm pretty busy this weekend, but I've got some initial statistics on Stim sales to share while I'm still getting all the analysis done.
To recap, this is based on sales in one location from September through late January. I have compared the results to my other shops and they match up within a small margin of statistical error, even thoughone location has a far higher percentage of PvP players as residents of the city. The Riverlands location being evaluated is on Corellia, approximately 3300M S/SE of Doaba Guerfel on the Gold Beaches. The location has had historically high retailtraffic because ofthe number of well-know crafters that have or havehad shops there. During thesales period in question, Felton Kel (the WSCorrespondent) and Bastilaa (Master Shipwright) were among the vendors with shops in Riverlands in addition to our company's (Definitive, Inc), three well-known crafters....An'na (buff packs), Amandil (Chef), and myself (standard meds).
Stim sales during the period were 24,298units at a sales price of 25,448,180 credits.
Stim-A
Total sales of 650 units (2.68% of overall units sold) and 78,000 credits (.31% of overall sales in credits). The average sales price for Stim-A during the period was 120 credits.
Stim-B
Total sales of11,902 units (48.98% of overall units sold) and 9,856,400 credits (38.77% of overall sales in credits). Theaverage sales price for Stim-B during the period was830 credits.
Stim-C
Total sales of1,757 units (7.23% of overall units sold) and 1,462,980 credits (5.75% of overall sales in credits) Theaverage sales price for Stim-C during the period was830 credits.
Stim-D
Total sales of7,546 units (31.06% of overall units sold) and 10,062,000 credits (39.54% of overall sales in credits). Theaverage sales price for Stim-D during the period was1,330 credits.
Stim-E
Total sales of2,443 units (10.05% of overall units sold) and 3,979,600 credits (15.64% of overall sales in credits). Theaverage sales price for Stim-D during the period was1,660 credits.
Notes on items effecting these sales numbers:
- Stim-A were not in stock for the last half of the sales period
- Stim-E were not in stock for the whole sales period and in the last 45 days the product line was changed to stock a mix of MU40 and MU45 Stim-E
- Product stocking is split into singles, 5-pack crates, 10-pack crates, 25-pack crates, and 50-pack crates.
- There were price changes on all products during the sales period. Price changes up or down did not effect demand....although pricing even at the high side was still just below market averages.
- Our shops are destination shopping locations, as the shops will have an assortment of key vendors. The Riverlands shop has CM, Composite/Wookie armor, BE products, Smuggler supplies, foods, meds, medical resources, medical components, and DE products.
When the spreadsheet is ready, you'll be able tolook at the raw sales of each item by day for the location, as well as the breakdown of sales by crate pack size. It's probably going to take a few more days to get the sheet ready, since my schedule is still pretty hectic. I am going to have the sheet set up hosted for access by everyone and I'll post the updated version of my planning sheet there as well.

why not just share the merchants friends data ? easy to get and compare. I'll try to get some data out there and put em up here too. Though I cant keep my vendors stocked all the time.

There are a few reasons that I'm not just sharing Merchant's Friend data:
- Not everyone has/usesMerchant's Friend, so the data wouldn't mean as much to them if they were interested-and it would take additional effort for them to get it.
- Merchant's Friend is a great tool, but it doesn't inherently do the analysis I'm going to provide. I thought I knew sales patterns for products well, but I've had a couple of surprises when I dug into the data. Besides, variations in stats and packs water down the value of the analysis MF provides.
- For some reason I can't seem to separate my real-life behaviors from those in game, so I have trouble sharing my customers names with folks I don't know. Yeah...there are no privacy policies for purchases, but the way I look at it I'm not sharing their names without their permission.
For those that use Merchant's Friend I'm willing to share that data, but if I do so I will be dummying the customer's names.

Your sales data points out something I have always noticed - no one really uses Stim C's.
All those with novice medic go for the B's and all the pharm 4's go for D's or med use 40 E's.
When I sold stims I never even made C's - I would constantly have to re-stock them from the vendor storeroom.

The data on the Stimpacks didn't hold any surprises for me...nor will the woundpack data when I post it. The aid for the woundpack data will be the a target percentage of production for B's relative to C's and for primaries versus secondaries.
The real surprises for me were in the state and cure data.

One thing about wound kits that I always wondered is why there are schematics for wound kit E - for a pool like strength for example even a modest B pack can usually heal the whole pool.
