Thread: Changes on vendors(merchant skill change)..Please read

Some time ago Thunderheart answered in a "19 Answers" thread(I'll try to find it) that merchant is being fixed so that only those who have the skill can actually have a vendor. The way it is now you can for example get novice merchant, place 2 vendors and drop the profession again without any vories. But as Thunderheart stated this will be fixed and when SOE do that, they will ruin the game for a lot of Docs and CMs that produce medical stuff for sale, and most of all this will make it harder to get medical supplies for the non-docs and the prices will be higher.

Let me explain; As Master Doc you can only have one more mastered skill, lets say you have TKM(so that you can hunt)as your other mastered skill, at that point you will only have 18 skill points left, and I guess most docs would have novice scout so that they canharvestmeat from the things they killon their own aswell as buying it. But with the changes in the vendor system all master docs and CMs that sell medical supplies have to drop their other mastered skill to be able to have vendors at all, so the Doc has to drop almost all their fighting skills and they have to buy more supplies from other players. This will result in higher price on stim packs and buff packs, and it will also be less tempting for other people to come into this business, and that again will give the result that the docs wont be able to meet the demands, which again will make the price even higher.


This is just speculations but I have a feeling they're pretty good speculations. How this problem should be dealt with I have know idea, but adding merchant skill to the Doctor/CM crafting tree could be a solution, but I doubt that will ever happen.

But Agent then you wont be able to have another mastered advanced profession

nope, not mastered


thats the point of having a skills based system, it lets you mix and match differnt parts of different proffessions to get what you want. But you stillhave to make compromises. You cant have everything.

The biggest problem is that this will discourage other players to start into the medical suply business

I think Master Doctors (only masters) and Master CMs should get one vendor, with, say, 36 items that can be put up, so 2 sets of crates and 4 sets of individuals. also the posting price should be much higher then for the prof that spesilizes in vendors and sales. both the mant to keep the vendor and the listing price. I think that makes sence.

I think agent is 100% right.


The way it is now is a joke in the face of the merchant profession.


What if you could master TKM, then drop TKM and keep the skills?


Merchant is the only profession that you can drop it and keep the skills.


There are two options: do what Agent said, or buy a second account (like I did) and master merchant with him.

Why not actually use the merchant profession? I.e., hire one.


They do exist... That's how I run my business... I pay a merchant a percentage of my revenue to own and operate a vendor for me. It isn't the easiest thing in the world to work out, but it can be done...


Plus, he advertises for me from time to time... Which is priceless.

I think a master doctor shouldnt have to have merchant skills to sell his products.


In my eyes merchant is a freaking joke anyways,you are going to waist all them skill points just to have 10 vendors or whatever.


All i know is if this change comes to be , i will be out of buisness,i am not dropping all my fighting skills or most just for merchant i am sorry.


I am not going to buy a 2nd account either just to be able to sell my doctors products.

Well all i can see if this does come to pass ,all my friends are going to be rich ,cause i wont have anything keeping me in this game.

Oh and that not just doctor there are weaponsmiths,armorsmiths,chefs etc etc , that even now cant even kill a nuna because of merchant.


You should be able to buy a vendor from an artisan and be done with it.


I will not give up my right to kill $hit,if i am forced i will do what i did with asherons call 2 , drop it like a bad habit.

Well good, no reason why you should be able to master another elite profession and have a vendor. Let the true merchants do their job.
