Thread: Traigus or Zarlor, a question for either or both of you

I read the patch notes that the TC correspondent posted and it said something about a buff interface. I found the description kind of lacking. Do either of you have any info about this? It seems to hint this is the override mechanism we've been looking for, but it's pretty vague. Any info is appreciated.

For those who haven;t seen it here is the patch note being referred to:






New Visual Buff system: A new 'buff' system has been put in place to give players a powerful and flexible method for applying and 'debuffing' attribute and skill modifiers with an easy to use graphic interface.






Well I certainly haven't had a chance to check this out at all, but from the tidbits we had gotten from the Devs (that we couldn't post before it hit TC) I believe that what is being talked about there is that we should now see icons associated with what buffs are up. It was primarily implimented with the Chef stuff, but it should include our buffs as well. The "debuff" statement is kind of news to me, though. THe only thing we knew for certain in the way of a debuff was that we were supposed to be getting the ability to overwrite a lower power buff at some point in time.

A couple of notes further down are also relavent, I believe:






Graphic User Interface



  • A new UI is available to display certain attribute and skill modifiers currently applied to the characters. It is disabled by default but can be turned on in the Options screen, under the Interface tab. The UI also appears the very first time you receive one of these modifiers.

  • Added new buff icons.

  • Spice buff duration and information is now displayed on the new buff bar.

Professions: Doctor



  • Fixed some problems with Doctor enhancements being found even though they had expired.

  • Added visual buff icons to Doctor enhancements and performance mind buffs.





The one about expired enhancements might actually be a fix for not being able to rebuff after a logoff (we can only hope!)

I can't chack these until Fri afternoon.. I'm on my way out to teach a night class, and I ahve an 8AM in the morning.

The buff window and icons looks to be nice... the way it is phrased, does seem to indicate a buff removal option. This is the first I've heatrd of it.

It really does seem that that the invisible buffs may be fixed... that one is easy to test though.

Please, if you are on TC, help out testing Chef foods (eat and drink!) Especially ones that affect Doctors medics etc. Run by the Chef forum with comments (food is too weak, too powerful, too filling etc.) This is the best tiem to get the stats tweaked.

I'll be making several TC trips this weekend to try and check this stuff out.

I knew about the buff UI. there was a question if the DOC buffs would be hooked up by this patch. It was possible only Chef stuff would use it.

I didn't kbnow about the possible invisible buff fix.

We were told aboout massive bug fixes. BTW, the list isn't all of them, there are tons of little fixes Correspondents are finding with / commands and oddities.

I'd assume they're talking about icons for some types of stat "debuffs" that currently don't have one. (Like the nightsisters draining your mind).

Yeah, I don't know of any "debuffs" outside of NPC force powers offhand (haven't seen PC forcepowers firsthand).
