Thread: Doc/CH
I used to think doc/ch was a good combo. I just dropped master ch last night. Here are the problems:
You are a completely supporting character. Soloing anything takes forever.
Faction pts are almost impossible to come by. You get zero pts for anything you pet kills.
With the new patch coming out missions will correctly correspond to your weapon ability. Pets do not figure into the equation. No more ability to make decent money on high level planets.
So, with those 3 things I'm going back to a combat class to compliment being a master doc.

I got a second account with the intent to be a master doc/cm. However it turns out it doesnt seem that fun. Do you guys think a master doc/ master CH would be effective. Also you can still use a CDEF gun
As you said, this is your SECOND account.
Master Doc/Master CH is the best thing you can possibly do.
Assuming your first account is master BH/pistoleer.
With master doctor buff on your BH, LLC blazing, using your 50 pet as tank. You will NOT regret it.
Buff and Send out your pet, have him attack lair, wait about 30sec - 1 min depend on your pet and call him back to you. there will be about 5 - 10 mob attached to it like flies.
Let loose with LLC. you will kill all 10 in 20 sec. without getting a single hurt.
You canfarm about 5k Avian meat in 2 hr and I was being lazy.
Oh yhea, you get mission money too, but credit is irrelevant. Avian meat and Herbavor meat is the real gold in this game.
Oh LORD will you love it.
Sure, Doc/CH are good for SOME mobs, but in many cases that is just simple overkill. My Doc/Merchant can take out a whole nest of kreetles without getting incapped once. ![]()
How do you manage to be Master CH + Master Doc + BH?
If you're talking having 2 characters out at the same time on the same server, I think that's silly, and I hope that's not what someone means when they say they have a 2nd account.
I took it to mean that this person was going to try out a different combo of professions on another server, or one on the same server, but not grouping with themselves at the same time.
In any case, Master Doctor + Master CH means you have 4 sp left over for...nothing really. In order to have some weapon-power, you will probably have to dumb down one or the other. It's what I did, and I managed to get 0042 pistoleer with Stopping/Fan shot for decent damage capacity. Only thing I kept from Doc was ability to res.

I just assumed he meant that he had second account and is playing them both on same server at same time. I found out there are tons of people who do this. MUCH more than I expected at start. I think there are more people with multi-account than there are number of people who actively engaged in GCW.
Why would that be silly tho?
Just because they firmly intended most of this game to be about grouping with other players, social interaction, and cooperation. The first M in MMORPG is Multiplayer...
I don't mean to diss anyone who does this, I just think it's so much more fun and better to find a BH to go with you and enjoy the benefits, or to find a Doc/CH to go with you if you're playing your BH character. I can understand having 2 characters/accounts on the same server, but not playing them at the same time in the same group. If one is a crafter and is running harvesters and crafting, and the other is adventuring, THEN I can see it even...
Just MHO, I didn't mean to offend.

Didn't offend me.
I don't group with both char when I am joining a big group. Can you imagine being the primary healer with doctor while playing BH? that is just .. as you said "silly" not to mention rude. (Some can do well I am sure, but I prefer not to. Heck whyshould Irun aroundlike creazy chicken to do two job?)
I do make him do the harvester run, since checking up on harvester is a full time job, as well as load up the factories. And when that is all done, I sometimes park him near the big group in case our Rezzer bit the big one (don't usually happen, but things sometimes go wrong as they should. otherwise where is the fun?) and having a semi-perm camp near where we are fighting is always a big plus for wound healing and calling out pets.
I "duo" play to farm avian meat, herbavor meat and very rarely destroy mission farming for credit (although farming mission give good credit anyhow) and rarely I will take along one or two extra person who is looking for a group to raise their scout exp but I tell them flat out what is what. And on these farming mission there is ZERO danger since only once in blue moon anyone actually get hit let along die.
Although it sound contradictory, for CASUAL players, multi-account just make sense.
As for being entirely in the support role - well, not really. My pets might not be a bounty hunter or commando in terms of damage but they are not useless. Also being a wookie, I have the option of using the bowcaster when soloing (slower so not good in normal battles where I need to heal), so I'd still do decent damage despite lack of marksman skills.
Besides, this is a MMORPG after all, and I have a sizable group of friends that consists of commandos, smugglers/pistoleers, CH/pistoleers etc, so I'd hardly have a problem finding juse one other person that I could group with to significantly speed up hunting.
As for mission terminals giving out lame missions, yes that is a problem. However even when I was the best, I still only got level 10 missions, which STILL would be "a few shots to kill" type missions, despite having just level 2 pistol and a scout blaster.
The whole mission level system needs to either be completely rewamped (take in account the current group for example), or scrapped (let me choose my own darn levels, with reasonable defaults). That's another issue though.
First, the first M in MMORPG is for massively, not multiplayer, but point taken.
Second, I am a 2221 Doc, a 2200 CH, and have expert pistol and I have found a pet to be indespensible. Being a twi'lek I have a pretty low Health pool and as such am incapped quite easily by the larger mobs. since I haven't advanced along doc enough to have good enhance packs I can't buff these stats yet. Using my pet to take the hits for me I am able to survive on the more hostile planets. running around in a small group healing is fine until that agro that I got too close to in order to heal a melee runs after me and incaps me in 2 hits. Having my pet around set to guard allows me to run around with impunity since as soon as an agro targets me, my pet is all over him keeping him away from me.
I'm not interested in taming creatures, or even training them. I'm just looking to have a nice strong pet to take the blows for me while i run around and heal. Perhaps when I have the ability to buff my health pool by 1500+ i will get rid of CH, but for as long as I am still leveling doc, i'm keeping it.

I was going along these routes as well, but I think your better served doing CH 3/2/0/0 get a trained GM and nov pistoleer. The creature just dont do enough damage to make it worth wild to give up those weapons skills. as a pistoleer your combat queue clears fast.
Now if you are always grouping and want to be Doctor, a Mdoc/MCH is a great build. let you creature tank and run around healing. Dont worry about weapons
I am a master doctor, and I attempted the master creature handler (got to 3/3/2/3) before I realized that it wasn't going to work. I had advanced pistol in the marksman line, but got my ass kicked on a regular basis when I was on my own. Sure, most of the time I could find friends to group with, but to make the multiple harvester runs, it wasn't fair for me to bug them. Having two pets out was nice, but when they hung up every 500m or so, took forever to eliminate a couple of enemies, and couldn't attack more than two targets at a time (i.e. a Tusken chief -led group on Tatooine), I decided creatures just weren't my cup of tea. Having to mash my follow macro and hope they'd catch up, or having to store and make the four or five attempts to call them out of my datapad wasn't worth it. Now I'm closing in on Master Pistoleer, which is not only much more enjoyable (albeit a typical master doctor combat profession), I am actually potent in PvP and PvE. Creature handlers are better as a support role for another combat class, from my experience.

I think Doctors, or even medic make best Harvester Runner.
CH are little better on ADvanced Planet Harvester running in my exp.
First thing I do is make sure my weapons are not equiped.
Then the second I get agroed, I hit run and wait until it kicks in. then I use stimps.
When there are lot of agro near my harvester, I drop a camp, call out the biggest DISPOSABLE pet I got (thats 50 Gurreck) then I face and alter tab and send it out to the closes mob to my harvester.
Then as soon as it is engaged, I send it out to farthest mob from my harvester.
I run in, do my harvester thing. then inch toward my pet spamming follow
the secondmy petturn toward me and start to run toward me, I burst run out of there.
I only lost my pet once using that method and never got hurt.
