Thread: On Mandalorian Armor

During our recent Dev Chat, we hinted at the fact that Mandalorian Armor will be added to the game via a new dungeon we're working on now. This caused some confusion among some players who thought that Mandalorian Armor was already in the game... Let me clear that up.

Short Answer: Mandalorian Armor has existed since launch, but we haven't given you a way to find it/make it/buy it...

The Long Answer: We've had the Mandalorian Armor assets for some time (since well before launch), but we've always struggled to find a good way to integratethe armorinto the game. Like Jedi, we didn't want Mandalorian Armor to become commonplace - it's supposed to be rare armor worn by an elite crew of mercenaries (who, by this point in the timeline, have been all but wiped out). We knew that bounty hunters would coveta suit of "Boba Fett's armor," andwould feel "cheated" if just anyone could make, buy, or recover Mandalorian armor. So, there was some back and forth before launch about how to best implement the armor, and thebest choice seemed to beby folding it into some kind of dungeon or quest progression. As many of you also know, however, we're sensitive to cutting crafters out of the economy - we didn't want there to be an over-abundance of "uber-loot" itemsthat removethe combatprofessions' dependency on crafters (as the gamehas evolved, we've becomemore open-minded about the types of loot we can drop, but we're still cognizant of the crafters' needs).During the race towards launch and in the weeks that followed, wejust didn't have time to devise a dungeonor series of queststhatcould provide Mandalorian armor in acompelling manner (with a good backstory, which is really important to me, especiallyin this case)*and* remain true to our design goals regarding crafters.

A few months ago,a LucasArts employee who plays the game religiously started a grass-rootscrusade toget Mandalorian armor into the game.I was sympathetic, but we had so much on our plates already. Fortunately, during a review of the dungeon assets in development, we discovered a rundown mine that nobody was sure how to populate. To me, it seemed like the perfect hideout for a gang of mercenaries - and thus, we decided that it would become the lair of the Death Watch, an offshoot of the Mandalorians.I'm not going to give away too many details, butI'm reallyexcited about the directionfor the dungeon and I think it's going to make bothpowerful combat characters and skilled crafters happy...

Stayed tuned in the coming weeks. Before you know it,you'll bebattling your way throughDeath Watch assassins and soldiers in search of one of the most iconic outfits in the Star Wars lore.Just make sure you know a good Armorsmith...

Also Shung S E R I O U S L Y, this going out of the way to get armor smiths to craft stuff is getting out of hands. They are already billionares . Adding a F E W uber weapons/armor to the game would be FINE

I serisouly do not think rewarding us with a schem for armorsmiths to make us MANDALORIAN armor,a way to make this story of getting this armor well decent.

Id rather see long multi tiered hard quests that reward you handsomly with a full DECENT suit...and not just some schem its just plain blah to be rewarded by these people with ANOTHER schem

Last time I checked anything good in this game is made, you dont find uber weapons/armor you gotta find parts and then craft it.

Rewarding us with a suit for LONG LONG LONG HARD WORK is not going to kill the community

sounds decent.

but imho do not make it a dropped schematic for the ASs, perhaps dropped pieces of armour that need an AS to work on it to 'repair it(not repairing like as in the game atm, a more crafting type repair).'

personally i think the drop should be a complete set of armour, else you'll just see rediculous auctions going on, as ppl try to get rid of duplicated pieces etc. naturally auctions wil always go on no matter what.

i am not a BH, but i think this armour should only be wearable by BHs, if i saw say a fencer/pistoleer/cm/etc wearing this it would really spoil the starwars feel of this game for me. perhaps only MBH, they should afterall have such a benefit for being a MBH over the dabblers.

When it gets put in, can we please have a way to actually have it in the game? Take RIS armor for example. Sure, we can make it, but to get the ingredients to do so is laughable. Especially the woolmander stuff. I have yet to see someone wear a set of RIS armor, let alone even sell it.

also as someone else mentioned, there does seem an OTT drive by the devs to include loot drops that are schematcis etc. personally i think a schematic for thi is just stupid.

this is supposed to be uber rare stuff, thus how this could impact the ASs sales of regular armour is beyond me, unless u are unable to make it a rare loot? which in that case would spoil the whole point of having mando armour in the game.

As some1 said, ASs, especially the ones who you would take something like this to, are already mega rich. mando armour will not decrease sales, there are not many ppl(maybe)who are stupid enough to grind/pve in a set of mando over a set of comp/ubese.

Having armor like this should be "laughable". I just hope that only a select few have it

Maybe make it wearable by MBH's only? Reward them for their hard work?

Thanks for the info - Only Problem is that People charge a Arm and a Leg for the Schematcis and the New armoursmiths will not have a chance if it droped by monsters and not quested.. I just started AC soImay work on this new stuff "Wookie, Mand". Sadly, I'm prolly gonna Drop it cuz there is none, to slight chance ill get an Schematic to make them. Anyways, thanks for the info and keep up the good work.
