"Welcome to the Weekly Discussion Thread. This thread is for commenting on general live issues, asking questions and reporting known issues."

...or?

One thing that is getting mentioned more and more is that you want the roundtable to be a more interactive discussion. I think we all want it to be more "back and forth", but the problem is, we would need to have more focus to the discussion, otherwise we end up having 100 different discussions and 100 different points of view.

To have a really challenging roundtable, one think we might do is pick a "topic of the week" and that might bring some more focus to this thread and it seems to be a natural evolution. If we did that, we should probably break it into two different threads. A weekly live issues thread that players post their info and reports on and a weekly roundatble which takes the shape of a more traditional conversation.

What do you think?

Thunderheart, is this to say you'd have one thread that was a completely open-ended discussion, where the players toss in all their ideas etc... And another thread where the Dev's give a focus area to talk about?

If so, I like that, because it'll give us insight into what ideas are most likely to get play soonest.

Sounds like a good idea TH, and welcome back from the holiday!

This sounds good, but I think that you (the Dev team) should pick the topic of the week rather than put it up to popular consesus to avoid havok. The weekly live issues thread should be a free for all to point out any problems or inconsistencies.

how about a discussion about loot this week then TH?

SEA's, loot tables( there was a mention about loot tables adjustments in pub 8.2 if i`m not mistaken), nightsister elders giving less money than meatlumps, stuff like that...

Maybe you could explain why things work like they do now.

Or even tell us if the devs think things are working as entended loot wise (especially with skill tapes that never give you multiple bonuses for instance).

As always, thx for reading our posts

can we finish this topic?

This issue is in regards to walking for very long distances and not running into and random lairs. It seems that Lok was fixed, but Dantooine is a dead planet. I walked for 11,000 meters on Dantooine hoping for something to spawn and only ran into 5 random lairs. Yavin is getting pretty dead too.

It means that there are a lot of people on the planet. The more people there are, the less random spawns there are. These are adjustments the server makes automatically. If you are running shy of random spawns, you should go get a mission. The terminals will spawn additional lairs when this type of loading occurs...

Thunderheart:

I didn't intend for this post to be taken this far, but the obvious problem is that the explanation you provided is flawed and that there is a real problem here.

Could you please have this problem looked into?

THe number of players on any given planet does not seem to be the issue. There is an underlying problem here. Some planets are dead planets. Some areas of dead planets have a "normal" level of creature spawns. But other areas of the same planet are empty, regardless of the number of players.

Dantooine is the biggest problem of all the planets, this is an advanced planet but nothing spawns there. Using mission terminals is fine, but the things I want to hunt are not on the terminals and why would the dev team want me to stick close to terminals to hunt? I mean with 15,000x15,000 meters to explore, you cannot possibly think I won't get bored of running back and forth 1200m from a mission terminal.

The spawn rate needs to be looked at, there is a serious problem with it and your explanation does not cut it. I hate to press on this issue, but its important. I think its more important than a lot of things, no sense in having combat rebalance if there's hardly any PvE combat due to a lack of spawns.

Sincerely,
The Hunters of SWG

TH, any update on the Krayt Skull Quest fixes for those of us who have beenstuck since October 2003?

Summary:

  • I did Borvo's Guards missions.

  • I did Thale Dustrunner's missions.

  • I took "Borvo's Money" to Borvo and gave it to him.

  • Borvo said, "Good."

  • Afterwards, he would only say, "Next."

  • He gave me no missions.

  • He gave me no gun to take to Huff Darklighter.

  • After the "fixes" of last November & December, Borvowould only tell me he didn't know me and to talk to his guards.

  • Borvo'sGuards tell me to get busy on Corellia or if I'm through there to go see Borvo.

  • Thale Dustrunner asks if I'm supposed to be doing something (ie, taking the briefcase to 'CorSec HQ').

  • Huff tells me to see his guards.

  • Huff's Guards tell me to find his gun on Naboo.

I understand it's a real challenge even reading all the posts. I had a hard time even reading *some* of the Jedi testing bugs from one thread over the long weekend.

I never post to these "weekly roundtable discussions" primarily because even though there are good ideas there, the discussion is so far down into the noise, the liklihood of it even being seen is small let alone acted upon.

Most people that post *want* some form of acknowledgement from a developer and/or peers. That's why when the Devs aren't responding to an issue we see the "ATTN: Thunderheart", "petition", or even downright bad behavior in a post to get it attention and a response.

I think it would be a great idea to see one or more focus threads per week, however, I'd also like to see better enforcement in the thread of staying on track (I know, this is another rathole). Even on Test Center bug threads where the initial post clearly states the thread is not for Live bugs/issues, people still post their pet peeves because they assume it will have a better chance of visibility. NOT removing the off topic or inappropriate posts has the effect of telling those posters as well as everyone else seeing it that it's ok to post like that.

ThunderHeart:

I agree that some structure in the interests of having true discussions is a good direction to go with the WRD threads. I may be alone in this, but I hesitate to get involved in the WRD threads due to their chaotic nature. Seperating out the weekly spam of "ongoing issues" that is often seen in these threads into their own location (i.e., being able to justifiably delete these threads from the WRD unless they were actually "on-topic" for that week's discussion) would be very beneficial.

My only concern is that there are enough resources and time for the SWG staff (read: you) to be able to carry on a viable discussion with the community and still follow whatever thread is created for In Live issues. If, however, the intention is for the Community to use the reformated WRD threads to discuss a topic amongst ourselves, then I would only be concerned with you having two different pages to check up on, as it seems that you like to have things consolidated into one place for convenient browsing.

Perhaps a good way to go about the implementation of this idea would be to use whatever new thread is created for In Live issues as an aid in deciding what topics would benefit most from discussion. For example: Everyone on the new "In Live Issues" thread is in an uproar over issue-x. As soon as possible, issue-x is made the weekly topic of conversation in the WRD thread. I'm not saying that the new thread should be a voting mechanism for discussion topics, per se, but that it should simply be used as a tool for getting ideas on potential discussion topics.
