Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 4-12-04)
The only issue I have is when a BH accepts a mission to kill a PC Jedi. The Bh tracks the target through the galaxy and finds him. Great! However Bh is unable to attack the Jedi unless the Saber is equipped. This sorta bites as the Jedi may see a target coming and unequip the Saber causing hisself not to be attackable. Now the Jedi has the opportunity to judge the skill level of the BH by examining his/her HAM bar, armor, and even the bio of mastered areas. For those of us that BH is the only Profession we choose our mastered list is very short (Scout, Marksman, and if your one of the Few Master BH).
In closing I want the Jedi to be attackable by the BH or BH'sfrom the point of mission acceptance so as to allow for a "surpriseattack" BH's after all work on an element of surprise.

A way to access in-game mail via a portal website.
Good point! I would take that idea and push it one step further up the road. I remember another MMORPG (I think it was "Anarchy Online", but I'm not sure about that) offered access to the in-game chat channels from outside the game through a web-based client. That wouldimprove communication within guilds and with our customers.
Well, my boss would not really behappy about this, but... who cares anyway! ![]()
Thanks!
How about a search function like that of EQ, (and other games non soe) so that we can look up for those who are LFG?
and so that we can search for specific classes, such as if we need a ranger or a doctor we can flag ourselves as a group needing these types. I think this would help alot in getitng groups formed to just hunt.

How about updating the mission system to make it more player friendly? Almost everyone who is taking missions knows the type of missions they are looking for, why not just skip the constant refreshing of missions on the terminals and allow them to pick missions within a certain difficulty, payout, or even direction?
This was also my first question.
2)Since the combat revamp has being pushed back, can we see some minor balance fixes ie. CM Poison and Disease ignoring armor and PvP damage reduction
3) It seems to me that the Jedi revamp is a higher priority than a Combat revamp for the less fortunate players. Why is this?
Are there "newbie" dungeons in SWG? I have been playing for close to three months now and am Swordsman 1/1/1/1. I still find dungeons such as the Genosian labs too difficult on my own. I understand that part of the idea for SWG is to get players together to achieve a goal. But what about those that enjoy the contact that a guild provides but would rather adventure on their own? I have read that the high end players I.e. Jedi's are getting revamped and rehashed but what about us newbie low levelers? I do not just want to receive NPC missions i.e. "fetch this" "carry that" but want to fulfill several quests to attain goods which would help me to achieve the higher end gaming. It can get boring just grinding your way through levels in order to reach the lofty heights of master commando or master smuggler to be able to consider entering these dungeons. Please Please Please remember us low level newbie's we too enjoy questing, we too enjoy the thrill of completing a dungeon and some of us prefer to do this alone....it gives us a sense of achievement without having to rely on the strength and abilities of the higher level players. Give us the choice to play seperately or in groups.
Sorry for the long post. Hope it's in the right thread...
Okay, I'm a relative newb (can't get too technical here) who finally had to quit the game back in December, because the grinding was taking too much time away from my "real life." But, I'm back and I've already experienced a couple of new and good things that may be helpful. I'll just share a quick one.
Yesterday, my low level faction mission spawned right next to another player's high level spawn, and luckily there happened to be a patrol of Storm Troopers, courtesy of the Imperial Crackdown, wandering through the desert in the area. The two of us joined forces on the spur of the moment, and the ST's jumped in and helped us both. It was the most fun I've ever had in this game! I earned exp., fought in a way that felt like I was really in the Star Wars Universe, and none of it felt like "grinding." It was just fun. I mean, I had an npc st healing me during the battle! Plus, I'm still1000's of exp away fromApprentice Gunfighter, so it was a fight I was able to join when I normally would have been sent straight back to the cloning center.
The only problem is, it was all a random occurrence. So I have one suggestion but have no idea of how it might be realized. Here it is:
* Recently, I played a really simple and fun web based MMOG which allows officers in PA's to hire temporary jobbers/ fighters for one time group missions. Say, for example, if you're an officerin a PA and on-line, but only a few other people from your PA are on-line too, then you can post a notice that your hiring temps for a specific mission, battle, quest, or whatever. When your job roster fills you head for the waypoint,on the edge of a GCW battlefield perhaps? If someone aggravates you, you send him or her on their way. You know, "You're fired." If you like them, after a while, you sponsor them to join your PA. I don't know. Just an idea. The "notice board" could be a new kind of mission terminal, or better yet, an NPC sitting in the darkcorner of some cantina. Also, maybe Squad Leaders could bea professiongiven the abilityto post temporary fighting gigs? LikeI said, just an idea.
~ Thanks

Last I checked, you could do this with /who or the Ctrl-P screen.
"Are there 'newbie' dungeons in SWG?"
Indeed there are. I'm Rifleman 0000, Scout 4443, and Medic 0011. Two of my favorite dungeons are the Giant Flynock Cave and the Giant Beetle Cave, both on Talus. They are both able to be done at my level if I am prepared and careful. I also hear the Borgle Bat cave is pretty easy, but always busy. One of the great things about many dungeons is that you can do parts of them without having to do the last part. I leveled in the Flynock Cave, just avoiding the red cons until I was stronger. I still found some neat things in magseals, and got decent xp from the stuff I could kill. My only complaint about the dungeons is the inability to trap or harvest in them.

/agree ... would have posted the same because its very necessary
- throwing something is a ranged attack . let ranged defence affect the posibily of hiting a player or not then comes defence vs poison and desease into the game the seconddefence against this. its insane that u can dodge a laserbold but unable to avoid a thrown phiole . this is really important ´and better then nerfing Cm's.
- cloning penalty ..... make it 5 mins not able to fight after cloning so that these clonewars would be reduced to a minimum . like the 1 min after rezzing .
- please stop this 'eat or die ' information policy ... if something is planned that will affect the the usability of skills of an char so please inform us early about it so that we can take care that our template makes sense after the changes.
- as the GCW is now its definitly too long to wait for the combat rebalance . changes that the gcw will become a gunfight like in starwars again must be done very quickly . not in 2 or 3 publishes .
- please take care of player concerns and the things thats pissing people off by taking a look at the gcw forum and the mayorproblems people havewith the actual gcw. theseproblems are mostly identical and should be put on nr1 on the to do list . for the mayor problems waiting for the rebalace is way to long because its affecting gameplay every day .
