Thread: Correspondent Top 5 Lists: Where we are and where we're going.

I have played a number of MMORPG's and from what I have seen SWG seems to be lacking content when compared to any other MMORPG. Everyone is trying to unlock to become jedi, I see this as a double edged sword. Jedi is a very tough and tedious profession to level, it is also very difficult to attain, at the same time the only other things left to do in the game are pvp. With talk underway for revamping the fighting system included PVE and PVP, i'm shaking in my boots.
I feel that SWG needs content. It needs big bad and nasty things to kill other than Krayts and the NS Leader woman. Once you've killed these, what else are you supposed to do...? I feel lost and bored in a game where i've already done it all.
I would like loot and nasty monsters to kill. Isn't it possible to make some caves on dathomir, MORE CAVES rather
I see that this could be a better game... but it's not. I'm an avid gamer and I feel that there really isn't enough content for such gamers as myself. Being a swg fan i refuse to give up so soon. I think of the space expansion set... and can't even begin to conceive as to how that will fit in with the rest of the game...
I know that the DEV's have a very tough job ahead of them but have done a great job with what theyve done so far. I just want more out of this game, and when i go looking for it, i keep turning up empty.

My question is that if defense mods will no longer stack, what's the point in hybrid templates? From what I gather it will work something like while you are holding a pistol, you getonly the pistoleer def mods you currently have, but when you switch weapons to say a blade, you get only fencer def mods. So I'm guessing there will be BHs, and 1 range / 1 melee hybrids. Kind of takes the fun out of working several professions for a well rounded character.
Now I do believe that the uber melee/ranged def mod stacking is out of hand. This could be way better remedied by distributing def mods throughout the profession blocks, a la CH. I don't want to see only rifleman/fencer combos or carbineer/TKM.Think it through better as to not force PvPers into a few professions, as it is right now.
I dont see the addition of Wookiee armor concerns.
I'm beginning to think about re-rolling another species that can actually stand to be hit once or twice since theycan actually wear armor. I see Wookiee's becoming even more rare than Jedi if this isnt addressed soon.

It was very brave of you to point out how AT-STs are supposed to give Imps an advantage over you, a rebel, when you have already admitted to being a Commando, the one class which has no problem taking out an AT-ST.
Right, you're a real fan of unbalance. You're also a boldfaced liar.
My suggestions.......
- Fix, change, or add profession specials: Gotta do somethign about this...Do somethingso people can actually use what they earned.Add some extra weapon forALL professions. Its does not look well that you have a game where some of the most important features broken
Example: Pistoleer disarming shot - does nothing, ok instead change the name, come up with something different a different ability.
This IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT. Every profession has some ability broken, it would not be that big if these abilities were not there, but they are and people want them. FIX EM.
2. Profession Templates - This is a tricky one. But easy to resolve....Put a cap on certain stats. Easy as pie. Let people dabble, just dont come out and totaly shoot everyone down.
3. WHY WHY WHY...I really wish i knew what is said behind the scenes....there are so many broken features, broke, quests or quest that are worthless. Professions that need a buffing, skill trees that are HORRIBLE. WHAT DO WE GET........CHANGE THE COLOR OF OUR BIKES?????
Bikes in my opinion = BEST UPDATE EVER.....come on you MUST FIX ALL THESE PROFESSIONS FIRST. This game is all based on professions if the foundation is cracked it will eventually cause a big problem.
FIXING PROFESSIONS FIRST = SHOWS YOU CARE ABOUT ALL PLAYERS!!!!!
This is my first time visiting the swg forums...and not sure if this is the best thread to post a suggestion, but have seen no feature in game to do so.
I bore of hearing people complian about what dev's are NOT doing....I think it might not be realized by players the extent of work and research that goes into creating/maintaining a game such as this. As a past player of Everquest..I understand that it takes a long time to get many bugs worked out, and can only really be done by trial and error when patches go live....
To my reason for this post:
Something that was done in EQ was polls at log in relating to game play, and what was wanted/needed by players. It seems a very narrow line of feedback for developers to only look at what is posted on the forums...ALL players could be reached via polls...with the posted poll..all players could respond with thier best closest answer, or answer no comment/opinion. By doing this everyone would have a chance to communicate thier wants/needs as a paying customer to SOE, and not have to spend hours looking thru posts that have no real data as to thier concerns..ALSO as a business point on SOE's part, polls would help the players on a large scale feel like their opinions mattered, and thier feedback on the polls would be used to further develop the game according to what they have experienced to work or not work.
As I mentioned above, I do not visit the forums, nor have an interest to continue to do so. I will be looking forward to feedback on this particular post tho....since I would like a response to the suggestion, and to know if it has been consitered, or found to be not viable by the development team.

I think that a soft cap as opposed to a hard cap or the old system would be a better fit. Allow things to stack, but implement a system with diminishing returns. This would allow the min/max'rs to do what they do and still alloweveryone the ability to be viable.
eg.
The first +50 to Blind, Dizzy etc... is normal, every point over 50 is of a half value. Do the same to Melee/ranged def mods..... (possibly hardcapbonuses at 90 effectiveness=130 total)
This would mean those poinys still have a value, just not as much as the current system.
The other problem has been stated here:
ARMOR is way our of whack. There should be more endgame viability in other armors. It is awfull that Composite armor is the end-all of armor. (excluding RIS) Why should it be that its resists should be so high and that the others are worthless at higher levels. There should be 4-5 types of armors at end-game that are viable for different reasons, but equally effective given certain circumstances. I think that almost the entire player-base wants as much freedom as possible with aesthetics/resists/encumberances. The current system feels a little silly. Bring other armor's up and composite down. I also feel that maybe at mastery levels a player can choose a new armor specific to that class that has some uniqueness, but is still within balance boundaries. aka, theif Vs Knight armor with bonuses/cost's to Def mods. This idea would work well I believe.... If done correctly....
ps. btw Dizzy is part of the problem as well.....reduce timer or eliminate...
